Chapter 143: She Lied

Chapter 143: She Lied

Bernard

To say I was angry would have been an understatement, I was livid. This woman had tricked me, not only myself but my mate and my friends saying that she was carrying my child. The devastation and fear I had felt over losing my mate crippled me, I felt so empty and defeated. It seemed like no matter what, fate just didn't want to see us happy and in love.

Our engagement party was meant to be tonight but we canceled it and said it was because Elena was unwell. I know that the news about Helen returning to the Pack had already traveled far and wide. Now, I am hearing that she had planned it out and had wanted to deceive me. I wanted to wring her neck but even more so, I wanted to make her father pay. Not only did he side with Richard but he had the audacity to slander my name saying I dishonored his daughter.

"Breathe, brother," Liam came up behind me and placed his hand on my shoulder.

We were in my study room and the thirst I had was not for liquor but for blood, especially Ronald Elison's blood.

"So, what is the plan now?"

Drive them off my land, I wanted to say it but I couldn't. Ronald is an Alpha and attacking him and his only heir would bring about a lot of chaos that I didn't need in my life. I just wanted peace and no trouble.

"Remember, we need to think about the child, the mother may not be from this Pack but the father is thereby making that child a part of our Pack too. We need to protect and try to keep Helen from doing something stupid."

"Is she not too far away from terminating the pregnancy?" He shook his head.

"It would be a risky procedure to try and terminate now but it is not unheard of. If we kick her out, she will most likely do something drastic knowing who she is."

I looked over my shoulder to where Jones was sitting, after he had told me everything that happened between him and Helen, he hadn't said another word. He only sips his drink quietly while listening to us. I knew he was battling with the idea of us kicking Helen out of the Pack, he wasn't sad about Helen leaving but rather his child whom she is carrying. I could only imagine the kind of hurt and pain he was facing.

"I will handle it." I turned and walked to the coffee table.

"Jones, I need to ask a question. Are you in love with Helen?"

"No, Alpha." His answer was instant.

"But even though I have not met nor seen it, I do love my pup." I thought as much.

"I don't want to harm your child, Jones. The pup is as much a victim as all of us here. I needed to know your feelings towards Helen before I decided what I wanted to do with her." They all remained silent.

"Helen can never be a part of this Pack, she has proven that she is a risk to the Pack but we cannot ignore the fact that she carries one of my own inside her so she cannot be killed. For that reason, she returns to her Pack but you may leave with them, Jones. I will put an Alpha protection order so that you are kept safe from any harm that they could try to inflict upon you." They were quiet.

"Are you okay to leave so you can ensure the safe delivery of your pup, Jones?" Without hesitation, he stepped forward.

"Yes, I am, Alpha." I nodded.

"After the birth, you will be allowed to return home with your child and Helen will be allowed to come visit you every weekend and holidays. But I believe it is the best that the child is raised by you, the father within my lands "

"That seems fair," Liam muttered.

"Any objections?" I looked at the three of them, they all shook their heads. Great, we are on the same page, that is all I need.

"What about Ronald?"

A low growl erupted out of my mouth, that was a man who I wished I could dig my claws into. He had proven to be a nuisance these last few weeks, I didn't want him to walk away unscathed, he didn't deserve it.

"I will handle Ronald, he will be rue the day he ever decides to cross me. I am not a man who takes kindly to disrespect and liars. Whatever alliance we still had is dead now, we would stop all trades with his Pack and I would revoke my loyalty."

"Fair enough." Jasper said.

"So, where are we meeting today, Alpha?"

"In the clearing just after dawn, I will contact all of you before the time. Jones, you will still escort Helen and Ronald with the other guard just as normal, they need to think that their little stupid plan is working."

"Will you bring Elena with you?"

"If she wants to, I will not force her. She said she was fine but I know that the cancellation of the engagement party really affected her. Hopefully, with this news, it will bring her mood up a little bit."

They all nodded, I knew they were worried about their Luna as much as I did. When she was off balance, the whole Pack felt it. She is the neck of this body or wolves, I may be the head but she is what supported me and helped me to stand upright. The neck balances the rest of the body which is the Pack.

After a few more discussions, they all left. I made my way upstairs to see my sleeping mate and when I entered the room, I was stunned to see her standing by the window looking up at the moon. She hadn't slept more than three hours since we came back from the hospital. She had been tossing and turning the entire time, I knew her heart was unsettled and hopefully, this news I had will do the magic.

I closed the door and walked up behind her, I circled my arms around her waist from behind. She leaned into me and placed her head on my shoulder, she breathed out a contented sigh placing her hand on top of mine. The electricity that ran from our skin was a feeling I had never experienced before. I never grew tired of how our bond felt so universal, it was a constant reminder of how unbelievably right we were for each other.

I nuzzled my nose into the crook of her neck and placed a gentle kiss on her soft skin. I felt her shudder slightly in my arms and I knew my touch was warming her inside.

"I woke up and you weren't here." She whispered.

I pulled away from her neck and she whined slightly, already missing my touch. I love the fact that she always needed my touch.

"I had to answer the door, Liam had come with some news about Helen and the pregnancy."

She tensed in my arms, I could already feel her retreating into herself all over again.

"What about her?"

"I am not the father."

I let my words hang in the air for a little bit, the tension that had locked in her muscles relaxed and she melted into me once again.

"Did the DNA results come out already?"

"No, but the father of the child she is carrying did come forward and confess that he had sex with Helen at the same time she accused me of impregnating her."

"So, she lied?" I nodded, nuzzling my nose back into the crook of her neck.

"She did, my love. She tried to break us again but like before, it didn't work because we are stronger than anything we will ever come up against."

"Is it bad that I want to throw her into a lake with human-eating crocodiles?" I let out a soft chuckle.

"I thought I was the one meant to be violet in this relationship?" She turned in my arms, causing me to remove my nose from her neck. She palmed my chest and looked into my eyes.

"She threatened what was mine and for that, she needed to pay a dear price. I don't like the fact that her unborn child inhibits me from using my full imagination when it comes to punishment."

"We need to consider, Jones. He still wants to raise the child as his own, I want to give him that opportunity, seeing that the child is technically a part of our Pack." She nodded in agreement.

"You already have a plan, don't you?"

"Yes."

"Okay, tell me about it, I want to help as best I can."

I told her everything, she listened to every detail and gave me advice on where she thinks the plan could be lacking. It was crazy that this had all taken place in a day, so much had happened and so much needed to be corrected. Helen Elison, you made a mistake trying to play me. You poked the bear and now you were getting the claws.
