Chapter 91: Am Coming

Chapter ninety-one: Am Coming

Richard

Ten long years I have been searching for this girl, ten long years she has evaded me time and time again. I had worked long and hard, assembled and trained some of the finest warriors the West Coast had ever seen and still she had outrun and outsmarted them all. I didn't like the fact that this girl had been able to slip through my fingers for almost a decade. I had wasted so many wolves and resources on this one task. I knew that when I did get her, killing her would be that much sweeter. She is a pest that needs to be exterminated.

I was standing in my office, overlooking the training of my young warriors below when a knock sounded at my office door.

"Who?" I demanded and I heard the door open, I didn't need to turn around to know who it was.

"What, Zara?" My assistant walked into my office with tentative steps.

"Mathew has arrived from the eastern Packs, he would like to see you." This is what I have been waiting for, finally.

"Let him in."

She walked out of my office and shut the door behind her. I walked over to my large desk and settled into the chair and a few seconds later, I heard a knock at my door.

"Come in."

Mathew walked in looking freshly showered and refreshed and it angered me. This means that he had gone home before he had come to report to me first. He knew that this operation he was leading was more important than everything else.

"Alpha." He bowed his head in greeting.

"Mathew, if you are here to tell me anything other than you have found her, you better leave now before I wring your neck."

He walked over to the chair opposite mine and made himself comfortable. He looked thinner than I remembered but he still looked strong and fit.

"We have found her, at least we think we have."

"What do you mean, you think you have? It is either yes you have found her or no you haven't."

"Two months ago, we spotted her heading East, we chased her down until she crossed over into occupied territory. After that, we lost sight of her, we thought maybe the Alpha had killed her for trespassing but then we spotted her again by the border with the Alpha."

"Which Alpha?"

"Alpha Bernard, from the little we could hear from the conversation, it sounded like she had run and he had come after her. I think they are keeping her prisoner in the Pack but I am surprised that she is still alive."

I know Bernard, he is the son of Joseph. A young hot-shot Alpha who felt like he had a lot to prove after the legacy his father left him. I had met him in person a few times, but I didn't like the boy. He felt like he was an Alpha who was on the same level as me but he was wrong. I am in a league of my own.

"When she came to the edge of the territory, did you attack?" He nodded.

"We tried our best but the Alpha was too strong for us. We did get a few good hits in and injected him with the wolfsbane."

"Well, he isn't dead if that is what you want to know. I would have been informed otherwise. So, clearly, he is very much alive." He gulped, probably sensing my growing anger.

"Where are the rest of your men?"

"Alex got badly injured and the others stayed behind with him. I came alone."

"When did you arrive, Mathew?"

"What?" He gulped, he knew what I was getting at.

"I see you are freshly showered and changed and if I am not mistaken, I can smell a little bacon on your breath which means you just ate. So, I will ask you again, when did you arrive?"

"An hour ago." He shifted in his chair uncomfortably looking at me.

"How important is your mission, Mathew?" I asked in an eerily calm voice.

"Very important, Alpha."

"So why then did you not come to me as soon as you arrived in the Pack? You know that time is of the essence when it comes to such matters."

"I only wanted to see my mate and my son, Alpha. I have been away for two months." He murmured but I heard him loud and clear.

"Oh, your mate, is it?" I could feel my wolf rising to service.

"When I was a boy, my father said to me that mates only served as a distraction. They made a wolf weak and vulnerable, is that what your mate does to you, Mathew? Does she serve as more of a distraction?"

"No, Alpha."

"Maybe I should have placed her in the cell so you learn who your first priority is in this Pack. You serve me first, Mathew, am I understood? Your loyalty and time belong to me. I made you my head tracker because I saw the potential within you."

"And I appreciate the opportunity, Alpha." He cast his eyes downwards.

"It was my mistake, I will not let it happen again."

"You better not." I stood up from my chair and walked back to the window.

"Send for Alex and the others, I want them back here. If Elena is in Bernard's Pack, there is no way she will leave knowing that you all would be outside waiting for her."

"I will send for them, Alpha." He stood up from his chair as well.

"Will you be needing anything else from me, Alpha?" I shook my head.

"Come to me as soon as Alex and the rest are back. We have a lot to discuss."

"Yes, Alpha." With that, he left my office.

************

It took them five days to return back to the Pack. I knew that Alex was going to look bad but I never imagined him looking like he was on the brink of death. He had lost a lot of weight and his breath was coming out heavy and labored. This pleased me because it meant that the wolfsbane was effective.

"Alpha." They greeted me.

"Sit down," l gestured for them to take a seat.

"Alex, you go to the hospital, tell them that I sent you. They will be expecting you, you will find the treatment you need there."

"But, my report, Alpha." He tried to protest and I held my hand up.

"No, go and get treatment first, you have played your part well and served me immensely. You have earned your treatment."

"Thank you, Alpha." He hobbled out of my office leaving me with my three trackers who looked much better than their peers.

"Report." I ordered.

"There still has been no sighting of her, Alpha. However, the Beta did come and approached the campsite we had set up." One of them said.

"Which Beta? The Crescent Wolf Pack?"

"Yes, Alpha." This is interesting.

"Well, what did he want?"

"He wanted us to work with him because he said that he would be an asset to us. He wanted to know what we wanted from Elena but we refused to tell him."

"And what exactly did he say he would get out of this partnership?"

"He only said that we would all benefit if we worked together. He said he could get us into the Pack undetected seeing as he is the Beta and knew the layout of the Pack very well."

This is very interesting, I was never a person who worked well with others because I didn't trust them.

"What did he say was his name?"

"Nicholas, Alpha."

Nicholas, I had met him in passing at a gala once. The man was a wolf in sheep's clothing, I had smelled his treacherous nature from a mile away. It was a shame Bernard was so oblivious to it all, I almost felt sorry for the poor boy. But it was his fault for not properly evaluating his Beta, now he had a traitor on his hands.

"You did well to refuse him. Nicholas is a rat and I don't like rats very much. If he is to betray his own Alpha by allowing unknown wolves into the territory what else is he willing to do? Does he know you belong to my Pack?" Mathew shook his head.

Good, I wanted to keep it that way, I would keep an eye on Nicholas. If he was seeking help from wolves he considered rogues, he was in a state of desperation and desperation was not ideal.

"I will send in more troops to Bernard's territory. You can rest for four days and then. Mathew, you will lead them in my absence. Don't attack and stay out of sight as much as possible until I give the go ahead order." I stood up from my desk and walked over to the table that had the map of all those Packs.

"She has evaded me for ten years now, she will evade me no longer. It is time to bring Elena back home." Their room fell silent.

"You are dismissed. Mathew, gather the first battalion, I want to speak with them. The ten-long chase is finally coming to an end."

Elena, I am coming for you.
