Chapter 135: A Place To Heal

Chapter 135: A Place To Heal

Nicholas

Jasper walked me to the edge of the Pack lands and I could feel his smug smile from where I was. I knew he was relishing in me being banished.

"I can feel your smugness from here, Jasper. You could try harder or conceal it."

"And why would I do that? His voice was coming from behind.

"I quite enjoy the fact that you are getting exactly what you deserve. After so many years of your torment, the Pack is finally free." I scoffed.

"Free? You all are more imprisoned than you were before. Bernard is not a leader and you all will see that soon enough."

He pushed me into my back, causing me to almost fall flat on my face. I still had the silver shackles on my neck and he held the chain, I was practically on a leash like some dog. I hated every second of it. I would find a way to make him pay for this dearly, it is just a matter of time.

We came to a halt at the end of the Pack lands, Jasper pulled my chain back and caused me to fall flat on my back. I felt the air leave my lungs and his obnoxious face hovered over me with a stupid smile. My wolf crawled to the surface, trying to free himself but as soon as I felt his strength enter my body, the silver chain burned my skin forcing him back.

"Ahhh!" I hissed.

"Easy there, Nicholas. You don't want to hurt yourself." He beamed at me, he was really getting on my nerves.

He looked behind and nodded to one of the guards he had brought with him. The guard stepped forward and produced a syringe from his pocket, he knelt beside me and without warning plunged the needle into my skin. I tried to move away but Jasper kept me in place. I felt a cool liquid entering my body then it started to heat as it traveled through my veins. At first, the heat was fine but then it started building and building until it started to burn.

I thrashed on the ground, my movements picking up the soil, it entered my lunch causing me to cough. I was a convulsing mess for a good five minutes and when the heat subsided, my body calmed and I felt myself come down. My body relaxed back into the ground, Jasper pulled the chain harder forcing me to my feet. I staggered to my feet, trying to lessen the burn against my skin. My muscles felt like jelly and my wolf wasn't as present as he had been before. I looked at Jasper.

"What did you do to me?"

"A little special elixir created by Liam, it is meant to mute your powers for the next 72 hours."

"Why would you do that?"

"Think of it as a parting gift from every wolf you tormented over the years."

"You will pay for this." I tried to lunge but I ended up stumbling to the ground.

"And how exactly do you plan on making me pay, Nicholas? You have no Pack, no power, and last I checked, I am Beta now. You are nothing but a pathetic, loner rogue. You are finished, Nicholas."

I stared at him, I wanted nothing more than to slit his throat clean but he was right. I was in no position to carry out any threats, I was weak and wounded. I needed to think of what to do once these chains were off. I was a man who planned and a patient man. I had waited years to execute my plan, although it had been foiled by my sister, it would have worked. I just need to think of a plan before I execute my revenge.

They would all pay, especially my father for suggesting this idea to Bernard. My sister betrayed me in such a way and of course, Bernard and his precious mate, I am going to kill them all.

After a few moments of silence, Jasper moved forward and unlatched the collar from my neck. I am free, I was sure my neck had burn marks from the chain but they would heal soon. It would leave a scar and I use it as a constant reminder of why I needed to seek revenge on those who had wronged me.

"Have a nice day, Nicholas. May the moon goddess have mercy on your soul."

"To hell with the moon goddess and all of you. This is not the last you hear from me, this I swear."

The so-called moon goddess had never done anything for me. I turned and made my way past the boundary line, I felt the tether, and my connection to Crescent Wolf Pack was severed. There was this hollow feeling in my chest, it was a kind of emptiness I had never felt in my life.

With each step I took away from the Pack line, I felt the feeling grow deeper and deeper. I stopped when I was a good hundred meters away from the boundaries, I doubled over as I took in deep breaths trying to center myself. Was this what my life would be like now? I had always prided myself on being able to be alone, being able to stand on my own but the truth was that I was not alone at that time, I had the tether that connected me to the Pack but now that it was gone, I was left feeling hollow. I can't survive like this, I had to come up with a plan and it had to be now.

With the mark on my arms, no Alpha would take me in. From what I knew, Richard is dead and I am unsure if his pack still exists. The problem with isolation was that I had alienated myself from all the Alphas and Betas. I had no strong connections or people I called on.

"Wait," I gasped.

I stood to my full height and started walking in the direction of one Alpha that I knew would not turn me away. An Alpha I knew wouldn't care much about the mark on my arm, an Alpha who wanted to get revenge on Bernard as much as I did, Ronald.

It took me almost five hours to make it to Ronald's land, his pack was the closest to Bernard's. As I approached the boundaries, I saw his patrol wolves walk through the tree line of the forest, they were in wolf form staring at me. I was in no condition to fight them off, this is where my smartness needed to come into play. As I came almost to the borderline of the Pack, the wolves snarled at me.I came to a halt and held my hands up.

"I came in peace, my name is Nicholas Mark and I wish to speak to your Alpha. Just mention my name to him, he will know him." One of them shifted back to his human form.

"I know who you are, you are the Beta that tried to overthrow his Alpha. Why should we let you pass our lines? For all we know this is your planning an invasion."

"I am not here to invade your lands, I am here to seek asylum. Tell Ronald I am here and I am sure he will let me in."

"Not a chance, you are a threat to Pack safety and j will not put my wolves at risk because you got banished."

This was getting no nowhere, I needed to speak to Ronald and it has to be now. I needed asylum and I needed a new pack to belong to, I couldn't make it on my own as a lone wolf.

Listen, I have traveled very far and my legs are tired. I am not asking you to bring me caviar on a silver platter, I am asking for refuge in this land. Tell your Alpha that I am here."

He looked like he wanted to speak but a voice coming from behind him spoke before he could.

"Nicholas Mark," Ronald's voice bellowed as he stepped out of the tree line.

"When my men told me that you were at my boundaries, I thought it was a lie. I had thought Bernard would have executed you for your treason but then again, I am not surprised, Bernard was always a weak man."

"It is good to see you, Ronald."

"Can't say the same for you, Nicholas. If you are here then it means you escaped becoming a fugitive or you were banished and become a rogue. Whichever one you are, you know that I cannot help you."

My eyes flicked to my arm where my mark was covered. If he saw it then he would definitely turn me away. All the same, I knew Ronald was a man who did not listen to authority. All he nodded was a little push in the right direction.

"Ronald," I stepped closer and his wolves snarled at me causing me to halt.

"It is fine, let him be." I relaxed a little.

"Ronald, Bernard wronged you by rejecting your daughter and he wronged me in so many ways. I know you want revenge and I know you want to see Bernard pay for what he has done. Who better to help you obtain that revenge than me." He remained silent.

"I know the lay of the land, I know his weakness and his strength. I have studied all forms of warfare, I would be an asset to you."

"And what do you want in return?"

"Asylum, I need a place to heal and devise a proper plan."

"And that place is my Pack?"

"No," I bit out.

"You are my only hope, Ronald." His face split into a smile.

"Let him in, come on Nicholas, we have much to discuss."
