Chapter 112: This Is Going To Be Hard

Chapter 112: This Is Going To Be Hard

Elena

I felt a bucket of iced water drench my body which caused me to shoot up in my bed.

"Good morning, my love." Bernard stood above me with an annoying grin on his face.

"What the hell, Bernard?" I was completely soaked.

"What time is it? Why did you throw water on me? And why the hell are you waking me up like this?"

"Did you forget that today is your first official day of training, my love?" I rolled my eyes and fell back onto my pillow. My back hit the wet sheet and I recoiled from the dampness. I am going to kill him.

"Do you really have to wake me up like that?" I narrowed my eyes on him.

"What happened to waking me up normally? What happened to the good morning kisses?"

"This was more fun," he smirked.

"Now, come on, you have ten minutes and we are heading out for a run."

He started walking towards the door, I took his momentary distraction as a chance to throw the pillow his way but before the pillow could even hit him, he turned around and grabbed it in his hand. I hated that he had such fast reflexes.

"Better luck next time, my love." He threw the pillow back at me and it hit me square in the face.

"Now, hurry up, I am waiting for you."

I wanted to strangle him, I looked at the phone he bought for me yesterday and my eyes widened.

"It is just four o'clock in the morning, Bernard!"

After some time, I stomped way down the stairs to find him sitting at the kitchen island with a cup of coffee in his hand and the most annoying smile etched on his face. I wanted to smack him so hard but I just grumbled profanities and took the cup from his hand. I sat on one of the chairs and drank the coffee silently. Bernard was staring at me with a playfulness in his eyes that had me wanting to commit murder. He was too perky for this of the day, the sun wasn't even up yet.

"Have I mentioned how beautiful you look early in the morning?" He smiled teasingly.

"Like a ray of sunshine, so radiant."

"Do you want me to throw this on you?" He held his hands up in mock surrender.

"I am only teasing you, my love. So do you want to hear what I have planned for you today?" I sighed.

"We are going to tell me anyway, aren't you?"

"So, we are going to start light with a ten miles paced run. This will get your heart rate going and will get your blood pumping nicely. Then we have hand-to-hand combat with Jasper and Doris then we have mediation. After that, we break for lunch and have a meeting with Kaba on how we are going to proceed with everything from there. We will have weapons class and then finally we will end off with a Pack meeting." My cup paused on its way to my lips.

"A Pack meeting?" He nodded.

"A lot has happened and a lot is about to happen and I need to inform the Pack. I need to prepare my people for whatever may come and I think it is time to finally present you to the Pack. Everyone knows you are Luna but it hasn't officially been announced yet."

"I am kind of nervous."

This is the first time that I am going to be presented to the Pack and I didn't know how they would receive me.

"Don't be, they will love you just as much as I already love you, my love."

He moved around the island and came to place a gentle kiss on my forehead. He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me to his side. I melted into him and sighed constantly.

"I am still mad at you but I like it when you hold me like this." He chuckled softly and kissed my head.

"Come on grumpy, let's get going. We have a full day ahead of us."

I drank the remaining of my coffee, and we walked out of the kitchen and used the back door.

"So, this will all be done in human form today, tomorrow we will run in wolf form, okay?" He looked at me and winked.

"Try to keep up."

We took off running, I followed behind him and did my best to keep up with him. This was the beginning of what was going to be a rather long and tiresome day for me but I wanted this. I knew I needed to train and I had a lot riding on this, I needed to activate my Alpha gene if I was to have hope for killing Richard.

By the time we finished our run, I was drenched in sweat and my legs felt like jello but surprisingly, I felt good. Maybe it was all the years of running that had my endurance up but I didn't feel like throwing up or passing out which was a good thing.

"I am surprised." He threaded his fingers through mine as we walked to the training ground.

"You were able to keep up."

"I may be small but I got some power in these legs."

"Don't you feel like going after that morning run?"

"Yes," I smiled.

"I do but if you ever wake me up like that again, I will kick you where the sun doesn't shine." He threw his head back and laughed.

"Since when was this violent?"

"Since some man decided to wake me up with a bucket of ice-cold water while I was sleeping peacefully."

"You weren't waking up when I first tried so the water was the only way forward." I rolled my eyes.

"Of course, it works."

We walked the rest of the way to the training ground and saw different wolves sparring with one another. Jasper and Doris were going at it, Bernard and I stood back and watched. Jasper was good but it seemed like Doris was better. Jasper relied on his strength while Doris relied on her ability to outsmart him. He was working hard while she was working smart. That's how I wanted to fight, I couldn't compete with Richard's brute strength but I could outsmart him like Doris was outsmarting Jasper. When they noticed us standing and watching them, she bowed her head in greeting.

"Alpha, Luna."

Everyone looked in our direction and they all bowed as well. This is going to take a lot for me to get used to. Everyone lifted their heads and waited. Bernard looked at me waiting for me to do something, so I did the only logical thing I knew how to do. I waved.

"Hmmmm, hi," I smiled nervously.

They all stared at me and suddenly I felt embarrassed and insecure. I looked at my mate who was smiling and amused at me. It was so good that he found all of this enjoyable.

"Continued." He said to them and everyone returned to what they were doing.

"I just made a fool of myself," I muttered.

"I think it was cute." He smiled, Jasper and Doris walked up to us and smiled.

"Luna." He bowed.

"Alpha, what brings you to the training ground?"

"Elena needs to learn some hand-to-hand combat, I want you to teach her."

"Of course, I would be happy to help." Jasper looked at me and smiled.

"We will go easy and work our way up."

"Jasper, you are a wonderful fighter but Elena needs to learn ability and fighting IQ. You fight with strength but Doris fights with brain. So Doris will spar with Elena." Jasper looked slightly hurt but nodded

I felt kind of bad but Bernard was right. I needed to be taught in the fighting style that would give me the best chance of winning and that wasn't fighting with strength. Doris stepped forward and smiled at me.

"Are you ready, Luna?" I nodded.

"But please call me Elena, Doris. We are friends and it feels weird you calling me Luna "

"Okay," she started walking to one of the small makeshift rings that were on the outside part of the training ground.

"I want to see what you are made of, this way, I can assess where your weak and strong points are." I nodded and took my place across from her.

"Don't go easy on me, I want to learn to fight for real and not be babied." She smirked.

"I wasn't planning on it, ready?"

I readied myself and placed myself into the stance Bernard had taught me, I kept my eyes focused on Doris as well as my mind.

"Fight!" Bernard ordered.

Just as I had asked, she didn't go easy on me at all. With the first round, I was on the mat in less than twenty seconds which was very embarrassing on my part. We went again another nine times until I was thoroughly battered.

I was proud to say I had managed to
landed two hits out of 3000 attempts and she hadn't even landed one on the mat. By the time we were done with the ten rounds, I was exhausted and defeated. I knew I couldn't fight but this was just embarrassing, I saw the stares and heard the whisper of the wolves training around us, and I felt my cheek heat up.

I stood from the mat and looked at Doris, she must have seen the unshed tears in my eyes because she stepped towards me with a look of concern in her eyes. I shook my head at her not to come any closer, I needed a moment. I hopped out of the ring and brushed past Bernard and Jasper who were looking at me concerned.

I heard the crunching of leaves behind me and I knew it was Bernard. My unshed tears blurred my vision and I felt my bottom lip quiver as I tried to fit the sob that wanted to escape out of me.

"Come here." He opened his arms and I ambled into his warm embrace wanting to be hidden from the world.

This is going to be a lot harder than I thought.
