Chapter 119: Foolish

Chapter 119: Foolish

Richard

I stood in front of my warriors, I stared into their eyes watching for any signs of weakness or fear. Today is the day we could not allow our humanness to take over. I needed their beasts and their power.

"My brothers, my sisters," I began.

"As you know, today we are going to war. Every single moment of training, every sore muscle and every drop of blood spilled had led to this one singular moment. We are on the precipice of success."

My warriors looked at me with zero fear and all the determination.

"We have one task and only one task alone." I stepped forward on the makeshift.

"Your Luna, Elena Williams has been taken by Bernard Joseph. Elena is the woman I have chosen to be my mate and to take the position of Luna and bear my heir."

Confusion and surprise crossed each of their eyes. It was no secret how vocal I had been about my disdain for mates. Announcing Elena as my chosen mate was understandably a shock to many.

"As you know, Bernard's Pack is the only one that has come close to rivaling us. They are strong, they are fast, and they are skilled but they pale in comparison to what you all are. I have trained each and every single one of you, I hand-selected you all to join me in this battle. You should feel honored that your Alpha has given you the chance to put your skills to us."

I looked over my shoulder at Jeff who was watching me with that damn cloak over his head. His violet eyes were gleaming against the sunshine.

"When you shift, Jeff will come to you and dip your claws in the wolfsbane. The poison is lethal, so process with caution, it will last only two hours but that is enough to get what I want."

I lifted my hand in front of the crowd and gestured for them to rise, every single one of them rose from their seats.

"Elena Williams is not to be killed or harmed. If any of you gain the opportunity, bring her to me at once. You know how we are going to attack, we shall use the three, four, and eight formations. Be sharp, be vigilant, and don't be stupid. These men we will face today are children compared to you." All their heads nodded in agreement.

"Today you are a lethal weapon, there is no room for mercy. If I see any of you show mercy, I will snap your neck in half without batting an eyelash. You strike to kill, be ruthless, be fearless, be my warriors. Be the killer I have trained you to be." I punched my hand in the air.

I stepped away from the edge of the stage and nodded to Mathew to take the lead in getting everyone ready for battle. Matthew got to work quickly, readying everyone.

I walked up to Jeff, whose eyes had not left me since I walked up on the stage. His gaze was annoying more than it was and it was unnerving. I nodded my head to a spot off the stage and told him to follow me. He followed behind me as I descended the stairs and made my way to not-so-visible areas off to the corner.
My warriors had begun shifting and falling into line.

"What?" I turned to face Jeff.

"You are scared," he tilted his head to the side as if he could see right through me.

"Your emotions, they are flaring. This either makes you more ruthless or foolish. Only time will tell."

His words infuriated me, I stepped up to him so we were toe to toe. He had the picture of calm and his relaxed nature only angered me more.

"How dare you?" I seethed.

"I am your Alpha and you shall show me respect."

"No, you are not," his eyes moved slightly to the side and they glazed over.

"The true Alpha lies behind the borders of the Crescent Wolf Pack. Her bloodline calls to me, she is strong, she had her ancestors behind her.

"And I have mine or have you forgotten who managed to come out on top when the battle between Baker and Williams first took place?"

"I must show you," his hands came to the side of my face holding me in place.

"This is who she is now."

My eyes rolled in the back of my head as the vision Jeff was trying to show. I saw the image of a girl with striking red hair and blue eyes that reminded me of Sapphire. The girl's face morphed into a white wolf with the same coloured eyes. This is who she has become now, Jeff's words echoed in the back of my mind. He removed his hand from my face and my vision returned.

I scowled at him, I hated when he infiltrated my mind without warning. Nevertheless, I now knew who exactly I was looking for. I turned to leave so Jeff could attend to all of the wolves and dip their claws. But before I could make it far, Jeff's hand shot out and stopped me. I glared at his hand wanting to bite it off but I restrained myself, my patience with this man was wearing out.

"Be careful, Alpha. Remember what I told you. If she is to become a fully realized Alpha, her power may be far too great for you to overcome."

I ripped my arm out of his hold and stormed away. Who was he to warn me of such nonsense? Elena had no idea of who she was and even if he did, her gene had been long dormant. It had been more than a century since her bloodline utilized the power of the gene.

I am Richard Baker and no one could ever defeat me, especially a small child like Elena. I would enjoy every second of breaking her and I would make sure she had a front row seat to watch her mate die. I launched myself into the air and shifted into my wolf. My clothes ripped to shreds as my wolf took form. Being an Alpha with the kind of strength I had, shifting was painless, it was almost second nature for me.

I landed on my paws and stretched to the full height of my wolf, I could feel the eyes of my warriors on me. My black fur is shining against the noon sunshine. My wolf was much bigger than theirs and rivaled many other Alphas out there. He was impressive and strong, my eyes were a dangerous red that many had called the eyes of the devil. It had meant to be an insult but I took it as a badge of honor. I was not a good man, not by a long shot but I knew I was a formidable one. Every challenger I had faced never lasted longer than ten minutes, I am fast, I am strong but most importantly, I am unbeatable.

Jeff finished dipping everyone else's claws in the wolfsbane and finally came to me. My wolf huffed as he approached but unlike average men, he didn't cower away from me. He set the bucket down and took my paw in his hand and waited. I elongated my claws and he dipped them into the bucket. We repeated this for the rest of my paws, when he was done, he stood to his full height and looked me dead in the eyes.

"Fight bravely, Alpha." He turned and headed to his tent.

He won't be joining us in the battle, I needed him here and away from harm's way. Jeff was a one-of-a-kind doctor but he was not a fighter. We both understood his strength and weakness. I couldn't risk him being lost in the line of fire. I turned to my warriors.

'Let us move.'

My wolf took off running in the direction of Bernard's back. We would arrive in less than three seconds. Each other warrior including Ronald's wolves was quick and they knew to keep up with me.

By the time we would have crossed the borderline, it would have been too late for them to react accordingly.

'Split now.' I ordered.

Mathew who was leading team two moved in a western direction and team one which I was leading continued East. I could hear the sirens going off as we neared the territory, it was only a matter of time.

I picked up my pace and my warriors followed me. My wolf was thirsty for blood, he had not been killed in a while and he wanted to utilize the power coursing through his veins.

'Alpha, we are breaching the lines in twenty seconds.' Matthew linked me.

I could see three patrol wolves make their way through the tree line readying themselves to be the first line of defense. They would be easy to kill. I turned my head to the side slightly and signaled one of my warriors running just behind me to handle them. He grunted and pushed forward, he was a tracker so he had the speed.

I watched him bound ferociously towards the patrol wolves, as he neared the lines one of the wolves stepped forward ready to be the first to defend. My tracker kept into the air and Bernard's wolf met him halfway mid-air.

Expertly, my tracker clamped his jaw down into the patrol wolf's neck and twisted, even from where I was, I heard the unmistakable crunch of bones breaking. My tracker landed on the ground with a limp patrol wolf hanging from his jaw. The other two patrol wolves howled into the sky for their fallen brethren. My tracker wasted no time and confused his attack.

By the time he met, the other two patrol wolves had breached the lines and my wolves easily disposed of them. I stood at the borderline for a moment, my wolf stood tall and strong. I pawed the ground feeling the earth beneath me.

'Knock, knock Bernard. I am here to take what belongs to me.'

I growled and took off towards their main Pack area. I knew that was where we would find them.

Today, history will finally be written. The first step in my journey to becoming king.
