Breathtaking

Adea
I was more than relieved when Alpha didn’t start anything that morning. He didn’t push for more, just stayed in bed with me until an hour passed. There was a lot that still needed to be done today before we could leave. I didn’t speak another work to him as he touched me and caressed my face. I was thankful when the servants knocked on the door. He let them in and gave them clear instructions. I would not be bathing today, but they were permitted to wash my face. He excused himself so they could get me ready.
After he leaves, a hoard of servants come through the door. They greet me with their heads bowed and eyes on the floor. I leave them for Nicole and Beka to deal with them. Quickly, they tell them what to do and everyone starts to move. I’m seated at the edge of the bed when a few young girls step up to me with a wooden bowl of water and a cloth. I nod for them to come closer and they start to wash my face gently.
I’m led to and fro as they get me ready for the day. I didn’t think I would be getting ready for the Alpha’s Meeting right now, but I was also not told when the meeting was. I gasp when the dress is presented in front of me.
Once again, Gabriel outdid himself. A red velvet dress that falls to the floor and I reach out to touch the gold designs that weave around the rib area. More gold designs adorn the sleeves. It’s cut low, but not uncomfortably low in the front. He knows how to make a woman feel strong, the complete opposite of what I feel. The dress looks like armor and I’m more than ready to put it on.
The rest of the morning is spent with the servants as they help me into a corset. I don’t need one, but I would be seen as practically naked without one. It wouldn’t be the first time that I went without a corset out in public, but I was thankful for the corset. The last thing I wanted to do was temp Alpha.
The soft material was soft against my skin and I felt like I had a piece of Gabriel here with me. I stood still with my chin held high and my hands folded in front of my stomach. Nicole and one of the servants stood behind me on wooden stools as they both worked on my hair. One brushed and the other held the separated pieces. In front of the vanity, Beka looked bored as she looked through the jewelry. She was on a mission to find something that would compliment my eyes and she was having trouble.
Nicole and the servant braided my hair into one large braid, loosening it to make the braid look larger. Another servant ran forward with a wooden box and inside I saw ten or twelve pins that looked like stars. When Nicole was done braiding my hair, she motioned for the girl to bring the box closer.
When the girl did, Nicole reached down and grabbed one before placing it in my hair. I watched as she dipped her hand to the box over and over again until there wasn’t a single one left. She proceeded to fluff, loosen, and curl the little wisps of my baby hair around her finger. When stepped off the stool, she walked around to look at me. A smile pulled at her lips and her eyes lit up.
“Breathtaking, Luna, you look breathtaking,” she gasped.
“Seeing as you’ve got all of that in her hair, I think something simple yet elegant will look best,” Beka said.
She walked forward with a necklace in her hand and stood beside Nicole. No, it wasn’t a necklace, it was a ribbon. A ribbon the same color as my eyes. She bowed and I nodded. She came forward and took a step onto the stool. She wrapped the silk ribbon around my neck and tied it in the back.
“You were right,” Nicole whispered. “Simple, yet elegant.” Beka gave a signal and the girls left the room silently.
“Just on time. Beta is on his way up to escort you down,” Beka said as she stepped down from the stool.
A knock on the door announced his arrival and Nicole rushed forward to let him in. Beta Odis stepped in with a bow of his head. When he lifted his head, his eyes widened, and his lips parted.
“You’ll have all of the hearts at the Alpha’s Table soaring,” Beta Odis said.
I blushed and dipped my chin.
“Shall we, Luna?” Beta Odis asked.
He offered me his hand and I took my first step in his direction. I dropped my hand on his arm and he led me down the hall, down the stairs, and to the hall. The doors opened and the Warrior outside announced my arrival. I walked in and wasn’t surprised this time as the familiar scent filled my nose. I looked around the table and my gaze locked on long brown hair and red lips.
“Sister,” Ava greeted.
“Ava,” I said.
I picked up another scent and looked to the seat beside Beta Odis’ seat. A woman with silver hair in a low braided bun stared at me with lavender eyes. I didn’t recognize her, but something told me I should. Her presence put me on edge. She must have been who had been in the other carriage. Odis led me to my seat to the left of Alpha. I turned to the unknown guest. Curiosity got the better of me, but before I could ask, she spoke.
“Who I am is of no importance to you,” she said. Her tone was bored, but her eyes smiled at me and my confusion. How did she know what I was going to ask? Her answer had the hairs on my arms and neck standing. I was missing something, I don’t know what it was, but there was something I was suppose to know.

Witch.
