Plan
Adea
“You look beautiful,” Ava said.
My sister’s eyes roamed down my body approvingly. I didn’t want to smile, but I did. I hated that I craved this so much, I hated that I wanted companionship so badly I was happy over a compliment from her. I wanted to sigh, but ended up just nodding my head as I stared at her. She wasn’t seated next to Alpha, she was seated across from Odis. There was seat in between the two of them. I didn’t want to know why she wasn’t sitting next to him. I didn’t care about what he did.
“How long will you be with us, Ava?” I asked.
“Are you ready for me to leave?” Ava asked.
“I was only curious,” I said.
“I’ll be here for awhile,” Ava answered.
I sneaked a glance at the silver haired woman who was biting into a slice of toast. A servant was by my side and I watched as he lowered plate after plate in front of me. I thanked him as he retreated back to his place along the wall. A plate of thick sliced fresh bread and butter sat on one plate and ham, hash browns, and boiled eggs sat on another. My stomach lurched, I didn’t feel hungry.
“Eat up, you’ll need your energy today,” Alpha said.
I wanted to tell him it was his fault that I was tired. My natural response wold have been to tell him to shove that energy right up his ass, but I didn’t. I juts felt so tired. I hated being here, but I hated to admit that he was right. I needed to eat. I felt like I was in a dream. My body moved slower than I would have liked and I wasn’t doing what I wanted.
“Is everything ready?” Alpha asked.
“Yes, Alpha. The carriages are ready whenever you wish to depart,” Beta Odis said.
“Carriages? Why will there be multiple?” I asked.
“Don’t worry yourself with what’s going on. We’ve got Warriors coming, so of course we would need more carriages,” Alpha said.
“Have you regained your strength?” Alpha asked.
He had turned his head and was looking at the silver-haired woman. She cocked her head to the side and looked at him. Her gaze was cold and I focused on her nose instead. She swallowed her food and brought a cloth to her mouth before she spoke.
“I have,” she answered.
“Good good,” Alpha said.
“Are you ill?” I asked. She turned to look at me and I was caught in her gaze.
“Always so curious. I’m not ill,” she hummed.
“Enough. Keep conversations with her to a minimum,” Alpha ordered. She turned toward him, a smug look flashed across her features before they were tucked neatly away behind a mask of indifference.
“She obviously doesn’t remember anything. I would say there is no need to be so cautious,” she said.
“I’ll decide matters in regards to my Queen. I didn’t ask what you would say. You’re here to do a job, focus on that,” Alpha said.
There was a stretch of silence as they stared at each other. It felt like a battle of wills as they played tug of war. I swear I could reach out and touch the rope that tugged between the two of them. It ended when she dropped her eyes, dipped her chin, and turned toward her food. I could feel his gaze trail down my face to my body. He leaned in close and I fought the urge to shiver.
“You look good enough to eat, My Queen,” Alpha murmured.
For the first time since he told me to eat my food, I obeyed. I picked up a slice of toast and started to butter it. I would do everything he said if it would keep him away from me. I don’t care what he thinks of how I look, but the reminder of what could happen snaked up my spine. I didn’t want that, I didn’t want any of that right now. I ate my meal in silence. My sister and the woman didn’t say anything. When I was done eating, Alpha announced that it was time to leave.

Shane
I’m buzzing with excitement and nerves. I want to see her, I can’t wait to see her. Servants came to help me dress, but I dismissed them. I’ve gotten myself ready for the last ten years of my life and I didn’t need assistance. I picked up a few pre-made outfits yesterday. There hadn’t been much time to hire a seamstress and I didn’t really care to hire one. I found something to my taste and got that. I brushed my hair and looked in the mirror before I rushed down the stairs three at a time. My Beta and Gamma were waiting for me in the dining hall. They both stood to their feet in greeting, but I waved them off.
“That’s unnecessary between us,” I said.
“It’s something that I won’t be able to change,” Gamma Trent said with a bow.
“What is your plan?” Mave asked.
“We attend the meeting,” I answered.
“Yes, that is on the schedule. I’m speaking about her, what are you going to do? What are you planning on doing?” Mave asked. Trent turned to look at her.
“I have no plan. I want to see her and that’s what I’m going to do,” I said. Mave sighed and shook her head.
“You expect me to believe that?” Mave asked.
“Yes. I need to know she’s still alive, breathing, okay. I need to see with my own eyes,” I said. I didn’t need to explain anything else.
After I confirmed that everything was ready, I told them to hurry with their food and meet me outside. I don’t think I could eat anything right now even if I wanted to. I feel like I haven’t been able to breathe since I left her. Knowing that I’ll see her today, I can’t do anything, I can’t think. I want her and only her. I won’t be able to breathe until I see her.
