Trash
I am not okay ~ Jelly Roll
Adea
Korra caught her scent before I could, and she was seething. Alarm bells were going off. There was a female in our mate’s suite. I didn’t know when it happened, but we had claimed not only Shane, but this area as ours. Only those we allowed were permitted to be here, and this woman wasn’t supposed to be here. My wolf snarled and snapped her fierce jaws at the uninvited guest. Normally, I can keep her under control, but right now, it felt like we were one and the same.
Her anger, her hate, her pain, her need to draw blood—all of it was mine.
My eyes trailed up from her red Jimmy Choos, along her thin yet muscular legs, to the white skirt that left nothing to the imagination, past her breasts that were barely covered by an uncountable number of diamonds. Red-kissed lips with a perfect cupid’s bow jutted out in a pout that matched her heels, blue eyes that instantly zoned in on Shane, and too-straight princess blonde hair flowed down her back.
Still, she wouldn’t look at me. There was no one here but Shane. There was an air about her, one filled with confidence and entitlement. My heart rate picked up, remembering what Shane had told me about never having another woman in his bed. Either he lied to me, and she was no stranger in his home, or she was secretly insecure and found out he had a woman here. Forcing her to rush here to make sure everyone knew he belonged to her.
Her reason for being here should have mattered, but right then, I couldn’t find it in me to give a fuck. Something went off in my head, and before I knew what I was doing, I was out of my seat. Chairs scraped against the floor as I lunged at her. I flung at her, hands reaching out, claws sharp as I lashed out. Skin separated, and blood leaked from her cheek as an arm wrapped around my waist and held me back before I could do more damage. But before I could turn my anger on Leo, someone’s hand darted out and pulled her hair.
“Who the fuck do you think you are? Get the hell out of here, skank!” Gabe’s words were everything I couldn’t say. To my right, my best friend held said skank by the hair, he dragged her down until she was at his hip level.
“I don’t hit women, but your presence hurts my best friend. So forgive me, Goddess…” he trailed off as his hand came flying forward. He slapped her across the face where I’d scratched her. Odis had to use both arms to pry Gabe off of her, but he didn’t let go. Instead, he ripped a clump of hair out of her head and laughed as Odis pulled him flush against his chest. I’d laugh if I wasn’t so pissed.
When I turned my gaze on the intruder, she had a hand on her head and murder in her eyes. Her glare was shared between me and Gabe.
“I know the bitch that smells like two different cocks isn’t talking.” There was a gleam in her eyes as she spat at Gabe.
Oh.
Fuck.
No.
“You’ve got a lot to say now that I’m being held back,” Gabe taunted.
I bit Leo’s arm, and he hissed. Letting me go, I jumped at the bitch again. This time, Leo was too slow to stop me in time. I grabbed two handfuls of hair and pulled in opposite directions. She screeched like a banshee, but I refused to let go. It was bad enough knowing she’d most likely already fucked Shane, but insulting my best friend? All bets were off. Leo’s hands grabbed and pulled me back, but I yanked her toward me.
“Get her!” Gabe shouted. The triumph in his voice fueled me.
Leo fell backward over the table and took me with him. Of course, I still wouldn’t let her go. She screamed angrily and swiped at me, but someone caught her arm before she could fall on me. Looking up, I saw Shane standing beside us. He gave me a side-eye, which, only hours ago, was endearing, but now I found annoying. I hadn’t had the urge to slap Shane since he forced me into his car at Alki, but I felt it rushing back with a vengeance.
I growled.
This wasn’t my proudest moment, but there was a woman here, and I couldn’t find it in me to care. I had only just claimed him a few hours ago, and here she was in way too close proximity to mine.
And now he was touching her?!
My wolf felt insecure, angry, and defensive. Shane was mine, and I was ready to claw her fucking eyes out. The implication of this bitch’s confidence and presence were too much for me. It was too soon for me to deal with other woman drama. Flashbacks of him and Starr ran through my head, and it felt as if my heart fell into my belly as I imagined him with the woman in front of me.
How dare he?
How dare she?
I didn’t know who I was angrier at.
Shane turned from me and peered disapprovingly at Odis.
“Weren’t you responsible for taking out the trash last night?” Shane sighed.
“Apologies, Alpha.” The beta dipped his chin.
“It was my fault,” Leo started. Shane glanced at the man holding me, specifically where his hands held me. The corner of his lip twitched. “I distracted Odis… and that’s why he wasn’t able to follow your command.”
“I didn’t know you were so easily led astray, beta,” Shane murmured lightly, the tone of his voice at war with the look on his face.
“I’ll take responsibility.” Odis released Gabe. My best friend crossed his arms in front of his chest.
“Enough of this. You have a lot of explaining to do, Shane,” Gabe said angrily.
I love my best friend.
“Beka,” Shane said her name with annoyance as he threw her hand to the side. He could ignore Gabe, but this conversation was nowhere near done.
“Yes, Alpha?” Beka answered coyly. I scoffed because she was a mess. Her hair was all over the place, blood smeared across her face. But she still tried to seduce him with her annoyingly sweet voice.
Is she why Shane won’t mark me?
“Why the fuck are you here?”
