Claw

The turning of wheels on gravel fill the air as three carriages pulled up in front of the pack house. My father stood by the front door with Ava by his side. Ethan stood to my Father’s let and I by his side. My clothes had been packed this morning and the servants had them ready to be loaded. The warriors lined stood in two parallel lines starting at the foot of the stairs and ending at the bottom of the lane where the carriage would stop. Dread filled me as the carriages came to a stop one by one.
“Alpha Ethan, it has been an honor to have you. My daughter will serve you well. I hope to hear good news soon,” father said.
Ava choked on air and rolled my eyes. I hated that the laws of man worked against my favor. My only use in this world was to spread my legs and bare children. I did find a small bit of satisfaction knowing my sister was hurt by this. It was the only thing I could hold onto.
It was the only thing that could come close to distracting me from what was happening. I couldn’t help but scan the surrounding area for a sign, any sign of him. I didn’t expect to find anything but my heart still fell when I found none. My father didn’t even look my way as Ethan said his farewell.
He grabbed my arm and led me toward the carriage. I didn’t look at my sister and I didn’t bother with my father as I followed after him. These two weren’t my family and I wasn’t going to miss them when I left. I could only hope I never saw them again. One of the warriors opened the door and I stepped on first before Ethan followed in after me.
I sat on one side and sat on the other. I wasn’t looking forward to looking at him the entire ride but I guess it would better than having him by my side. I turned from him and gazed out the window when I remembered the other carriages. I looked back at my captor until our eyes met.
“Who occupies the other carriages?” I asked.
“A few new friends,” Ethan murmured.
“From where? From here?” I persisted.
“One that came here with me and another I acquired while here,” he said mysteriously.
I could only hope that he wasn’t talking about who I thought he was talking about. I couldn’t think of anyone else he would take from here other than my sister. I thought about pushing him further but nothing was free in this world. And I didn’t want to think about Ethan getting the idea that I owed him anything. I looked out of the window and watched as we drove further and further away from the packhouse.

We only stopped twice a day and during those times we received food and I was permitted to leave to relieve myself. I wasn’t allowed to go alone and one of the warriors followed me to the place of my choosing. I had to pop a squat and go in front of a complete stranger. I hated it but it was better him than Ethan. I was unsure of how I did but I managed to keep him away from me in such close proximity. He didn’t so much as touch me on this trip.
We were less than a days journey from Crimson pack and I hated to say it but I couldn’t wait to get there. If I had to spend another day in the carriage in close proximity to Ethan I would go insane. I was ready to tear my eyes out for having to look at him. I wished I could stop myself from hearing his vile suggestions of ways we could pass time. I looked forward to the meals and the few minutes I could spend away from him.
Luckily now that we were almost there the time seemed to be flying by. Before I knew it the clip-clop sound of the horses hoofs sounded as we went over a stone bridge. We were high up in the mountains and far from the one place I’d called home. I gasped as the packhouse, if you could call it that, came into view.
The castle’s five large stone buildings jutted out from the ground and reached for the sky. It had matching triangle wooden shaped rooftops that pointed toward the Goddess. Mountains surrounded the largest packhouse I’d ever laid my eyes on.
A smokey fog blanketed the surroundings but as we grew nearer I could see that there was nothing surrounding the packhouse. Absolutely nothing. On the outside of the packhouse there was a drop. I looked down and saw that it dropped down down down to ground level.
It was strategically placed away from other packs but still close enough to where he could keep an eye on them. The fog had lifted but still remained in the air as the sun remained hidden behind clouds. I didn’t want to admit it but it was beautiful. The carriage came to a stop and I looked at Ethan.
“We’ve arrived. Welcome to your new home, Princess,” Ethan said.
The door opened and he stared at me. He jerked his head toward the door and I stood to my feet. I stepped outside and Ethan followed after me. The warriors followed close behind but I couldn’t help but look back over my shoulder to the carriages that stopped behind mine. The door opened but Ethan blocked my view. His arm slid around my waist and I wanted to claw his eyes out.
“Come,” Ethan said.
