Demon

And what would you do with that list?
You have to ask?
I need to confirm.
Confirm what exactly, Max?
What would you do?
I’d make my way down the list.
And?
And kill them. I’d kill them all.
And I’m the one in denial? I want to keep her.
You can’t keep what isn’t yours.
She wants to keep us.
Are we still lying to ourselves, Max?

He started to whine and I shut him out. Adea jumped to her feet, her entire body turning to face me before she closed the short distance between us. The sound of skin against skin resounded and bounced off the walls before echoing. I tilted my head to the side as I stared down at the only woman in all the surrounding territories who had the audacity to lift her hand to me. My cheek warmed and a smile spread across my face.
No matter how many lives we faced together, Adea never changed. She still had that spark, that fire that threatened to consume anything it touched. I loved being the one that ignited it. I’d died by her hand a number of times, and yet in this life, she was determined to cause me more pain. One second her hand connected with my cheek and in the next she was upon me. She didn’t hesitate. It wasn’t like her. Royalty pumped through her veins, and times had changed. Adea was meant to take what she wanted, or strike down who she wanted dead.
Her fists beat down upon my chest, my face—everywhere she could reach. I could stop her, had the power in me to, but I didn’t. This only proved she could make me feel, and this was nothing. The little bit of pain she caused my body was nowhere near the amount she inflicted upon my soul. I watched as her forehead scrunched up, and her nose wrinkled. She shoved me back, and I let my body move with her will.
I fell to the floor, the corner of the seat scraping my back as I watched the angel from from the heavens. Was this where I tainted her? Or had I already done that? She straddled me and I held her ass in my hands. My breathing came out ragged. Not from anger, not from emotion, but from need. Her breasts were free, and she climbed on top of me of her own accord, of her own free will. Although she meant to hurt me, she wanted this, and she didn’t flinch away from me.

She didn’t fear me.

And I hated how relieved that one thought made me feel. Damn the Goddess. Her fists bounced off my chest, snapping me from my game of self-loathing. Anger intertwined with need as I reached up and wrapped her hair around my hand. Of course, that didn’t deter her, if anything, it spurred her on. She lashed out, her nails had grown into claws, and I groaned as they dug into my skin of my neck. Her eyes locked on the blood that seeped from it before darting up to mine.
“I hate you,” she rasped as she tore through my shirt.
“You have a terrible way of showing it,” I taunted.
She raised her hand and slapped me across the face again. I didn’t flinch, the action barely caused me to move, but the sound resounded around us. Her eyes widened and I wondered if there was a hand print of my face. Maybe there would be a scratch, so I could wear her mark as if she’d branded me as hers. I yanked her by the hair and her head jerked back, exposing her neck to me before she could fight against my grip. Her eyes were glossy and my mouth watered.
“I hate you,” she said through clenched teeth.
“Really?” I asked, my eyes trailing down her exposed body. “I thought this was how you showed your undying love and devotion,” I teased.
“Is the Goddess a joke to you?” She asked, her voice crazed.
“Yes, actually. She’s just another bitch. Being the one in the sky doesn’t make her any different from the other whores who are obsessed with me. She enjoys fucking me as much as you d—” My words were cut off as her hand slapped me across the face a third time. The smile that spread across my face only pissed her off more.
“Not once in all of my years have I so much as yelled at anyone. Then you come along and bring out the worst in me,” she said, her body shook, but I pretended not to see. Was it still from anger? “I’ve already lost track of how many times I’ve hit you,” she laughed.
“Who’s counting?” I teased. I wouldn’t say that I’d been.
“I think I’ve gone insane. Every word out of your mouth makes me want to hurt you, to make you bleed, to drive you insane. You’re a monster, Shane. A fucking monster!” She shrieked as she clawed at my neck. I grabbed her hands and held them down at her sides. Leaning forward, I loved how she clenched her thighs.
“Wrong again, Princess. I’m your demon,” I taunted. “And I’m here to collect. You’re mine and—”
“Not another fucking word!” she warned.
“Or what? You’re going to fuck your little boyfriend? Go ahead. If you want to watch as I kill him slowly. I’ll rip his insides out and feed it to him. And while you’re at it, give me a list of names of men I need to kill,” I growled.
“You’re a fuc—”
Before she could finish that sentence, I released her hair and grabbed her by the back of her neck. Yanking her forward, her lips slammed against mine, and our teeth knocked together before I kissed her like it was the last time. I groaned at the taste of her. Her nails dug deep, but she didn’t pull away. I could feel her heat against my cock and I groaned as she ground on it. I hissed as she bit my lip and I opened my eyes, only to find her glaring up at me.
“Eyes on me,” she spat.
