Minutes

Four days since I met him and three days since I’d last seen him. I was getting ready when an unwelcome feeling filled my chest. Nervousness. Why hadn’t he stopped by to see me? Was he staying away to torture me, or… was there… someone else?
Even as I drove to Ocean Side for my next shift, I grew excited with the thought of tonight being the night I saw him again. What happened to hating him? I felt like I could hate and want to see him at the same time. My heart thrummed in my chest at the image of him throwing the door open and using me like he did the first time. I was not ashamed of where my thoughts instantly went when Shane was involved. I wondered what we would do when he did show up and wondered how I had even driven this far without crashing.
My phone rang and pulled me from my daydream of all the wicked things I wanted Shane to do to me. Irritation filled me, not from the call, but from the fact that even though he annoyed the hell out of me, I couldn’t help but want him. I wanted to feel, taste, and see him. Even when I lied to myself using Max as an excuse, deep down, I knew I wanted to see them both. Donny’s name flashed as the incoming caller. I pressed the green button on the screen in front of me.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Hey, what are you up to?” Donny asked lightly.
“Just heading in to my shift per usual,” I laughed. “Am I going to be seeing you tonight at work?” I asked.
“I’m out for a bit longer,” he sighed. “But I’m coming in tonight to pick up some papers from Char. So you will see me,” he said happily.
“I’ve missed your mean mug around the club. I’ll see you then,” I said.
“Wait… Have you been okay?” He asked.
“Yes, Don, I’ve been good. I can handle myself and your step in has been doing a good job,” I said.
“Well, that’s good,” he said.
“I’m almost there. Is there something you needed?” I asked.
“Before I let you go. Are you available this weekend?” He asked quickly.
“Donny…“I trailed off.
“You don’t have to answer right now. Just… think about it and get back to me Friday,” he said.
“Where is this coming from?” I asked. I slowed to a stop and turned my blinker on.
“I just want to hang out,” he said.
“Hang out or…?” I asked.
“I mean, that would be great and I wouldn’t say no,” he laughed.
“Don,” I said seriously.
“I kid, I kid! I want to hang out with you. Call it a date, we can do whatever you want, call it whatever you want. I just want to spend time with you,” he said.
“I don’t want to give you any false hope, Don,” I said carefully.
“Oka… well..” he trailed off.
“I’ll give you an answer by the end of the week,” I said.
“Thanks,” he said.
“Of course. I’ll see you later tonight, okay?” I asked.
“Okay. See you then,” he murmured.
I pressed the red button to end the call and pulled into a parking stall. Donny’s replacement stood by the door and I scanned the lot before unlocking my door and getting out. He nodded in greeting and smiled before pushing the door open. I held my head high as I walked in with heels that could kill a man. Music blared through the speakers and Randy smiled my way before he started on my drinks. There was a lively crowd on men on their feet and some of the girls squealing. I was guessing there was a show going on and my suspicions were confirmed when money was thrown into the air and started raining down on the crowd.
“Hey Randy!” I yelled over the music.
“Morning, Luna! You look great,” he said with a wink.
“Thank you, thank you but I’m sure you say that to all the girls!” I laughed. He placed the shots down on the counter one by one.
“Only to the pretty ones!” He teased.
“So… everyone?” I asked with a hint of sass.
“Ocean Side does have the prettiest girls,” he replied honestly.
“No, Ocean Side has the hottest girls,” I corrected.
“Right you are. So I didn’t lie!” He yelled over the music. I rolled my eyes at him and picked up the first shot glass. Throwing my head back, I swallowed it down, and the crowd on the dance floor went wild. Placing it down, I picked up the next.
“What’s going on over there?” I asked.
“Beats me,” he shrugged. “Figure it’s just another show.” I nodded and threw it back.
The liquid gold burned as it went down and I shivered as I grabbed the next one. Looking over my shoulder, my eyes dart to the stage and I notice Star isn’t up there. It makes sense now why there’s a commotion. The other girls up on the stage are still dancing, but almost everyone’s attention is on the group huddled in the middle of the floor.
I threw back the third one and snorted. I half choked, half laughed knowing that Star probably has some poor sap eating out of her ass cheeks and selling his soul for some bump and grind. It would also explain why Randy was a little short with me on what’s going on on the floor. He’s made it obvious that he liked her with the little things he did for her. My body warmed slightly and I asked him for two more shots when a couple of girls leaned on the counter next to me.
“Oh my Gods, can you believe how hot he is?” Sakura squealed. She was a big Naruto fan and dyed her hair pink, the stripper name just fit.
“I can’t. I would literally do whatever that man asked of me. I’d sell my soul for just a few minutes of his time,” Crystal moaned.
“Bitch! A few minutes is all I need,” Sakura yelled.
