Adea
Ethan led me into the castle the sound of my shoes echoes against the walls. The first room, if you could call it that, that we walked into was as large as my father’s meeting hall. It was maybe two or three stories tall, the walls went up, up, up and almost looked endless from where I stood. Twin stairways on opposite sides of the room with red velvet rugs that adorned the floors and lanterns that decorated the wall and led up to a corridor that seemed to hang in midair.
We took the first right and walked down a hallway of stone and an arched ceiling. Large windows brought in natural light. I looked outside as we continued to walk and gasped at the sight. The view from the hallway alone was breathtaking. Trees on top of trees and wildlife as deer frolicked and birds flew.
“Beautiful,” I whispered.
Ethan didn’t say anything as we exited the hallway and entered a large room with chaise lounges and arched windows with stained glass. For the first time today I looked to him but he ignored me. I didn’t know where we were going but my nerves were bubbling inside of me and my mind screamed for me to make a run for it. I wouldn’t though. I would face him and everything he threw my way.
We strode through the sitting room and walked out into another hallway. This one was grander than the last. An indoor bridge made of stone split off into other bridges that went to different rooms and some to stairs. He pulled me along with him as we walked across the bridge and into another room. As I looked around I already knew that this would be my favorite room in this prison.
The walls were made of black shelves that ran up to the ceiling. Black rail ladders leaned against each wall and could be used to reach higher shelves or slide across to the other side of the wall. Small circle lights decorated the tops of the ceilings that gave off a small warm light across the hall-like room.
His arm disappeared from my waist and he walked from me toward the large mahogany wood table. I walked toward the nearest bookshelf and browsed through the titles. A part of me wanted to beg him to let me go even though I knew he wouldn’t. At least there would be a lot of books that could keep me preoccupied. I prayed business would take him away for weeks on end so I didn’t have to deal with him.
“I’m glad this room is to your liking. This is the library. From your room I know you like to read. This room is yours,” Ethan said.
After all of the books he ripped apart, of course he knew I liked to read. The memory of my books littered across the floor still brought tears to my eyes. I forced the thought away. I refused to look at him and chose to look around the room. A large black leather couch ran from one wall to the other in front of the windows. Ethan took a seat in the matching chair behind his desk. I could feel his eyes as they trailed down my body and tried to calm my nerves as fear licked it’s way up my back. I would not break down now. I would not break down in front of him. I would not let him see me weak or afraid. Never that.
“At long last you’re all mine,” Ethan murmured.
“Has this always been a goal of yours?” I asked.
“Mmm.. yes,” Ethan chuckled. “It has.”
“Why?” I asked.
“Because you were mine. Where else would you be if not in my home?” Ethan asked.
Had I fooled myself into thinking I could carry on a conversation with him? I’d been crazy to think that I could talk to him. Somehow I’d forgotten that Ethan was insane. Nothing he did or said made sense. Forgetting that was a mistake on my part. A mistake that could cost me in the future. I needed to be on guard every moment of the day. Especially now that we had made it to Crimson pack.
“Why did you want me? Why did it have to be me?” I asked. The unsaid question rang between us.
Why me and not my sister?
Why not Ava?
Why did it have to be me?
“You were promised to me. I’ve known you were mine for a long time. I’ve known you would be here one day,” Ethan said.
“Is that all?” I asked.
“What else are you looking for? Are you looking for a reason for my obsession? Are you looking for a reason why I was adamant about you when I’ve been fucking your sister?” Ethan asked. “There is nothing other than the fact that you were given to me. Your father said you were mine and that was it. On the day you became of age you would be mine to keep by my side, mine to touch, mine to taste, mine to do whatever it is I wished. There is no other reason, Adealine.”
“That’s all? Only because I was given to you like cattle? Like a plaything?” I asked.
“Oh, Adealine. Don’t speak of yourself as if you were just cattle. You are more. So much more. You’re my Queen, My Luna. You will bear my children. You will give me my heirs. You are in charge of the future of Crimson pack. So don’t lower yourself to just cattle, little one,” Ethan breathed.
“How is that any different than cattle? I’m here to birth heirs for you—”
“Not just that. You’re also here for my pleasure. My pleasure falls on your shoulders. Keeping me happy and satisfied is your purpose. That shouldn’t be hard after our first night,” Ethan said. My face twisted in disgust and I didn’t bother to hide it.
“Come here,” Ethan demanded.
