Deserve
Donny’s eyes widened with shock as my words registered. I didn’t know many people here, but I knew Donny about as much as I knew Chance. He was as sweet as he was kind. He’d go above and beyond for his woman. Donny was a family man that would be loyal to the end of his days, but I also knew how his brain worked. Because of his upbringing, dropping to his knees for any reason other than to eat pussy would make him feel inferior. It wasn’t in his nature to bend to someone’s will. He was head strong and believed what he knew was right. He was too proud a man to say he would do what I just asked. He’d already been hurt once. I wouldn’t let it happen again. This sucked but it was something I could use to get him to leave. And I know it might be hypocritical, but I can’t think of being with him when I’m already entangled with more than I can handle.
“If my Luna wanted you here, I wouldn’t have a problem. I can please her all on my own, but the idea of two men worshiping her body the way she deserves appeals to me,” Chance chuckled.
My jaw dropped as images of Chance and Donny massaging my body, their lips on me flashed across my mind. I bit my lip as my cheeks heated. If I weren’t tired, full, and sore, I think I might actually entertain the idea.
“Unfortunately for you, she doesn’t want you here, so I don’t either. You mentioned earlier that I’m not her client, you would be correct. Meaning you don’t need to guard her from me. She chose to be with me. I can see to her well-being. I don’t have much time with her and you’re crossing the line,” Chance said coolly.
The warmth in Donny’s brown eyes disappeared as he glared at Chance. His body tensed and I knew he wanted to hurt him. His knuckles popped at his side and I sighed. His eyes darted back to min and any hint of anger vanished as he searched my face. Even after the thing I’d said he still tried to make sure I was okay. He reached out and held the hand by my side.
“I… can be what you need,” he murmured. I swallowed and it felt like sawdust. Grabbing his hand with my free one, I pulled and he released me.
“No, D. You can’t,” I said gently.
“I can show you another side, a better side,” he tried.
“I don’t want the better side. I just want to feel good. Your feelings…“ I trailed off.“You know I can make you feel good, we both know I can do that. Let me show you more,” Donny whispered. I shook my head. He reached for me again and when he grabbed me, I didn’t pull away.
“There’s a lot going on right now… between… You’re a great guy, Donny. You’ll make someone very happy one day, but that isn’t me. This is my bad bitch era. I’m experimenting and finally doing what I want without thinking about. Your feelings are a burden. I can’t be what you want or need. I’m grateful that you’re worried about me, but you’ve checked now. You know I’m fine. I need you to go now,” I said firmly.
“You deserve so much more than this,” he murmured.
I felt a tinge in my chest that I didn’t want to put too much thought into. What did I deserve? I wanted to stay in this world I’d created with Chance. Nothing, not even Donny, would make me choose reality after I’d spent the last few hours doing whatever I could to escape it. I’m thoroughly fucked, satisfied, and exhausted.
“I’ve chosen to spend this time with Chance,” I said. His eyes searched mine and when he didn’t find what he was looking for, he released my hand.
“This is the part where you turn around and see yourself out,” Chance grunted. Donny didn’t look away from me, but he growled low. What is it with these men and growling? I seriously needed to ask Gabe if humans could growl. A large hand rested on my hip possessively and Donny’s gaze darkened.
“You should go, D,” I whispered.
“Okay, but let me take you out tomorrow,” he insisted.
“Did you not hear any of the words that just came out of her mouth?” Chance snapped from behind me.
“Chance,” I warned as I turned to look at him. He clenched his jaw, avoided my gaze, and glared at Donny.
“Just give me one date, one day. I’ll take you out and show you what it could be like,” he murmured. Chance’s grip on my hip tightened. I wanted to tell him no, deny him, and tell him I didn’t have time for a relationship. I wanted to tell him I can’t be the woman he wants, but the reminder of the man who is supposed to be my mate with another flashed across my mind. Chance’s words earlier only further reassured me. He would be okay with it if I were.
“I—”
“I don’t want to force you to do anything you don’t want, but I want a chance. I want an opportunity to show you what being my girl would be like,” he said.
“You’re not—”
“If you don’t want anything to do with me after that, I’ll have no choice but to agree. I’ll never bring my feelings up again. I’ll give you space and I won’t bother you when you’re working with your clients or your non-clients,” Donny continued.
“D!” I yelled.
“Yes?” he asked.
“If you would have let me talk you would know that my answer is yes,” I blurted before I could change my mind. His jaw dropped and he stilled.
“Are you sure?” Chance asked from behind me. His lips slid over my neck.
“Yes, but one day, and one day only,” I said.
