Cute
Drunk In My Mind ~ Benson Boone
Adea
A range of thoughts and emotions flit through me as I wonder how Gabe is here and then why. A fiendish idea comes to mind and an equally devilish smile spreads across my face. Because there was only one reason Gabe would be here this morning. Dropping my phone, I moved to get up, my leg shifting when I’m held back down. Shane’s grip had tightened, and he was refusing to let me get away. I definitely didn’t miss the hardness digging into my belly.
“Down, boy. I’m out of commission. At least for a few hours,” I giggled.
Everything was sore. And when I say everything, I mean everything. Irritation stared back at me and I crossed my arms in front of my chest. Huffing, I glared defiantly up at him. He jerked his head to the side, his curls danced away from his forehead. I don’t know why he’s being a butt, but I’m not going to let him have his way. Gabe is downstairs and I’m going to find out why, no, exactly who kept him here.
“Let me go.”
“No,” he murmured.
“Shane,” I snapped.
“Yes, Princess?” Finally, he smirked. The frown I’d spied was nowhere in sight.
“I need to get up,” I said through clenched teeth.
“Do you, though?” he asked teasingly.
“Why are you smiling right now?” I pushed against his chest, but that only made his dimple pop out even more.
“I love it when you’re mad.”
My jaw dropped.
“This guy… Of course you do. Well, I need to get up.” He cuddled closer and my top row of teeth dug into my bottom lip. Just a couple of days ago, I would have done anything to have him beg me to stay. And now I want to hit him.
“So you say, but I think you’re fine right where you are.”
I shook my head. And my phone dings, as if I needed a reminder.
“It doesn’t matter how cute you act. Gabe is here, and I need an update. So… as tempting as it is to roll in bed with you all day, my best friend kind of has priority right now.”
Shane sits straighter, but he doesn’t look surprised that Gabe is here. “Are you trying to make me jealous?” he asked as he tilted his head.
“No, Shane. That is not something I’m trying to do,” I sighed. Grabbing his wrists, I push them off my waist, but he doesn’t fight me this time. Instead, he pouts.
I didn’t know it was possible, but, Goddess, he’s cute.
Faintly, I can hear pounding on the door. Gabe is either worried, angry, or both.
“That would be my bestie with testes. If I don’t go down there right now, he’s going to break down your door. And I’d rather avoid your guards hurting him,” I murmured as I got to my feet. Before I walked away, I turned back to my mate and grabbed his shoulder. Leaning down, I pressed a kiss to his forehead, and then dodged his hand as he swiped at me.
“Don’t run from me, Princess. You know that’ll only make me give chase.” His warning rumbled behind me. I slowed down and pretended like I had no such thoughts. Looking over my shoulder, I winked.
“I’m only getting a shirt, Daddy Shane. Or would you prefer I go downstairs naked?” I knew the effect my words would have on him, and I hold back a laugh as his eyes darkened dangerously. Whatever effect he thought that would have on me, it didn’t. I wasn’t scared of pissing Shane off. If anything, it only excited me. I grabbed the shirt he wore yesterday and slipped into it. It hung just above my knees and I slowly walked toward the door. His pupils were blown as he watched me.
“Besides… you’re going to have to be a lot faster than that, baby,” I teased.
I stuck out my tongue. The last thing I saw before I turned my back on him was his claws as they dug into the bed. Quickly, I dashed for the door. He growled, and I pried the door open as fast as I could. It banged as I propelled myself away from the room. My heart was beating in my chest as a pounding sound reached my ears. I made my way down the hallway, paintings blurred as I rushed past.
I’m sprinting down the stairs by the time I hear his heavy footfalls as he made his way out of the room. Focusing on making it downstairs, I hear my best friend threatening to break down the door. Followed by muffled voices. When I hear Shane close on my heels, I squealed and run even faster. I know that if he wanted to, he could pounce and take me out right now. But I love that he’s letting me outrun him, at least for now. I wonder what he’ll do to me when he catches me.
Just as I’m about to hit the ground floor, large arms wrapped around me. I’m lifted off the ground, my legs dangle in the air before I’m flipped around. I get a brief glance at the cocky look on his face before I’m thrown over his shoulder. His shirt is riding awfully high and I know my pussy’s exposed. My hair hangs down his back and my chest rises and falls quickly, but by his steady breathing, I know he didn’t even try that hard. Damn this man. His hand grabs a handful of my ass, and I know I’m not even mad.
“You are such a brat,” he chuckled.
“I’m your brat, and you love it.” I reached down and squeezed his cheek.
“If I didn’t know better, I’d say you want a punishmen—”
“I’m counting down!” Gabe called from the other side of the door, cutting him off.
Shane sighed and grumbled under his breath.
“3!” Gabe yelled.
Shane strode past the living room and dining room.
“Breaking down the alpha’s door isn’t a good idea,” a male voice murmured.
“2!” Gabe huffed as he banged on the door.
Shane reached for the door, but paused. Lowering me, he made sure his shirt was covering everything before pulling me to his side.
“1!” Gabe growled.
Shane opened the door and Gabe stumbled in.
