Crazy

Shane cut across the driveway, and when the doors closed, there was nothing but him. His scent, his breathing, and his chest against my cheek. I came harder than I had any right to and yet I felt like I was where I belonged. I valued these moments where he treated me like I was his, like I was precious and fragile. Even if it was all a lie. I knew I meant something to him. His hot and cold actions had my head spinning, but it did nothing to deter my stubborn heart. I couldn’t help but hope something would come from today. Whatever this was. Squinting as a blinding light flashed, my eyes adjusted before widening. The first and second floor came into view as the elevator went up, up, up.
Holy shit.
Shane’s grip on me tightened, and my eyes fluttered closed as I leaned into him. The elevator stopped with a ding. When the doors opened, curiosity had me peering forward again. I wasn’t sure what I thought his home would look like, but all-black walls and flooring weren’t at all what came to mind. Maybe I should have expected it. Based on what he always wore, it was obviously his favorite color. As he stepped off, I got this feeling that he had older mid-evil tastes and they somehow mixed nicely with the modern feel. We walked down a long hall that opened up to… I gasped.
It was like I was standing at the top of the world. There were no walls, well, now that I looked closer there were. Instead of walls, he had glass. Moonlight and starlight filtered in, illuminating the wide space and furniture. His floor had an open concept and even though you would think it would be cold, it wasn’t. A fire burned in the middle of the space, and doors that led to other rooms pulled on my curiosity. What was in there?
A black stairway led to a second floor. I’m guessing that’s where the bedroom… or bedrooms, are. Shane pivoted to the right and headed toward the stairs. Greedily, my gaze slid across the floor as we started our ascension. I spotted a u-shaped black sectional with tall plants on either side, a dining area, and what looked like a kitchen before the first floor was out of sight.
“You can put me down now,” I huffed.
Ignoring me, the giant of a man climbed the stairs without so much as a grunt. When we hit the top, my lips parted as I get a good look at the mountain outlines in the distance and the lights shining in town before he turned and headed down a different hall. Paintings lined the walls. I get a sneak peek at one that looked like a pool of water surrounded by tall trees. Before I could get a closer look at the woman bathed in moonlight, he darted past. The rest of the paintings were a blur until they disappeared and we came to a stop. He held me with one hand and turned the handle of what I would think was the tallest door I’ve ever seen.
He carried me over the threshold, and for a split second, it felt like I’m a young virgin in a mafia romance novel, with only a few moments before my innocence would be stripped and the burly Don claimed me as his own. I barely stop myself from giggling as he kicks the door shut behind us.
As I glance around the room, I have a suspicion Shane has a thing for voyeurism. I mean, why else would he have glass windows? Yeah, we’re high up, but that doesn’t kick the feeling of being watched. My eyes caught on a painting, but once again, I couldn’t get a good look before we entered another room. He placed me on the counter and then he was gone. Taking his warmth with him. I watched as he walked to the tub, bent over, and turned it on. He doesn’t say a word, and I know it’s up to me to start a conversation.
“Do you always bring your women here?” I wrapped my arms around myself. My clothes were a mess, and I was actually looking forward to this. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d had a bath. When he didn’t respond, I rolled my eyes.
Oh-kay.
“Have you always been this fucking crazy?”
I was probably going to regret that one, but I didn’t care. He just killed my friend, threatened to annihilate everyone on the beach, took me right next to his beta in the back of his truck, and brought me to his room when I have plans with his sister. Yeah, I’m pissed. I don’t have patience for whatever mood he’s in now. My irritation and anger are at dangerously high levels, so I’m not prepared for the honest answer that falls from his lips.
“Yes, Princess. I’ve always been this fucking crazy.”
Steam billowed up from the massive tub, but with Shane standing in front, it looked small. For the first time since I first met him, I can almost see whatever darkness is looming over him. I’m sure I imagine the chains coming down from the ceiling. They wrapped around his arms, body, and throat. I blinked, and they were gone.
Is the burden of being alpha so great?
“You sure you don’t have a Luna hiding around here?” I teased. A poor attempt to lighten the mood.
As if that were possible.
“No,” he answers absentmindedly.
Mm.. he’s awfully compliant.
“You live here all by yourself?”
“Yes.”
“You expect me to believe that?” I asked in disbelief.
“I’ve already told you what I expect from you.”
I clucked my tongue.
You are not to sleep with anyone else.
You are mine.
I don’t share.
His words play on repeat.
He did.
Not helpful, Korra.
He’s answered my questions, but he seems distracted. As if he’s not really here. Not once has he looked at me since entering his room. And that… that irritated me.
He flipped around, and in a flash, he was between my legs. He tore the remaining scraps off my body and I squeaked as he scooped me up. Reaching out, I held onto him on instinct. Were we about to take a bath together? I liked the thought of that. My cheeks flushed as the image of riding him in the tub came to water. All that water sloshing and falling on the ground as he thrust into me. Goddess, that’s hot. My fantasies were dashed when he practically threw me in.
“The towels are in there.” He grunted and pointed at a shelf next to the counter. Then he ran from the room as if he’d burn if he stayed any longer. I’d think this was a joke, but when the door slammed shut, I was speechless. When he didn’t come right back in, I scoffed. Shane was avoiding me. Shaking my head, I sank deeper into the hot water.
I’m not letting you run away from me, Shane.
I need answers.
