Butt stuff
She’s late.
Maybe something came up?
So you won’t throw the human a bone, but you’ll gladly give excuses for a girl we haven’t even met?
Korra snuffled and slipped to the back of my mind. My brow twitched as she gave me the cold shoulder. I gave her the space she needed. With my thoughts still sour from Mr. Burns, I cursed and pushed off the counter. I grabbed a wet cloth and started wiping down the counter. Between him and the mystery hire I was already done for the day and she hadn’t even arrived yet!
A car pulled up, and I smiled as Gabe pulled up to the window. I threw the cloth aside and ran to the drive thru. Pushing the sliding window open, blue eyes sparkled as he flashed me with a crooked smile. His blonde hair fell over his eyes and he ran his fingers through it as he pushed it back.
“Good morning!” Gabe greeted.
“What are you doing here on your day off? It’s not even five!” I said as I leaned out of the window.
“That’s what I said,” a man grumbled.
“I didn’t ask for a day off. It’s been so long!” He said.
“I saw you last night before I went to bed,” I laughed.
“Are you sure you guys aren’t in love with each other?” the guy in the passengers seat asked.
“Oh, we’re in love,” I said.
I looked over at Gabe and he gave me a smoldering look. His friend was so uncomfortable that he cleared his throat and the two of us burst into laughter. I shook my head.
“Ady’s my best friend, she’s practically my little sister,” Gabe said.
“And I think the same way. There’s nothing more between us,” I agreed.
“I like butt stuff,” Gabe said.
“And that’s okay,” I said seriously. We both started giggling and the guy beside Gabe groaned.
“You didn’t let me do anything though?” His friend asked.
“That’s because you’re a switch and I’m not,” Gabe said.
“Gag,” I said as I pretended to vomit. “Seriously though, what’s up?” I asked.
“I can’t be here for my daily mythical mocha?” Gabe asked.
“Not at five in the morning after,” I said, my eyes darting to the man beside him. “Why didn’t you sleep in?” I asked.
“I wanted to check in on you. We always work together. My internal clock woke me up as soon as you left. I wasn’t able to go back to sleep,” Gabe said with a shrug.
“As you can see Mom, I’m fine,” I said as I fought a smile.
“You give them everything and this is how they treat you,” Gabe sighed.
“I’ll get started on your mythical. I’m Adea. What can I get you?” I asked his friend.
“I heard. I’m Leo. I’ll take what Gabriel’s having,” he said.
He wore a white baseball cap flipped back, his blonde hair was shaved short, but long in the front. He was handsome, his light brown eyes stared at me with interest and a hint of jealousy. As if there was anything to be jealous about between me and Gabe.
“Coming right up,” I said.
Turning from them I grabbed the handle of the port-filter and poured coffee grounds into it. After I tamped it down gently, I cleaned the edges, and inserted it into the coffee machine. I did this for a second one and when they were both inserted into the coffee machine, I grabbed two shot glasses and placed them where I knew the sweet nectar of the gods would come out.
I grabbed two cups meant for cold drinks and placed it in front of the espresso machine. I poured a scoop of white chocolate into both cups and picked up one cup. Placing it in front of the caramel bottle, I pumped two shots of it into the cup before doing the same with the other cup and returned it to the front of the espresso machine as it turned off.
Perfect.
I grabbed both shots and turned them upside down into the coffee cups. I grabbed the bar spoon and squatted low. Staring at the bottom of the cup where the dry powder sat, I began to stir until it all dissolved. There was nothing worse than taking a sip of coffee and inhaling pure powder. It was disgusting. I did the same with the second coffee and when I stood up I put dome lids on tightly. Then I rushed to the little silver fridge. I pulled out the whipped cream I made fresh this morning and filled it to the top. I grabbed two straws and handed them to Gabe, then I grabbed the coffees and handed them over one at a time. When he handed Leo his drink I watched him expectantly.
“Oh, you have to try that, like, right now,” Gabe said.
“Why do I have to do that?” Leo asked.
“Because she need to know that you like it,” Gabe said.
Leo turned to look at me and I smiled. He sighed.
“The things I do for love,” he sighed.
“Stop joking and take a sip,” Gabe said. Leo gave him a look and lifted the straw to his lips. His eyes lit up and he turned to look at me. I flashed him a real smile as the straw fell from his lips.
“This is…” Leo trailed off.
“Amazing? Yeah, I know,” Gabe finished for him. Gabe handed me cash and I ignored it.
“It was nice meeting you Leo,” I said. Then I looked at Gabe and mouthed ‘I like this one’. Gabe never brought anyone around me, so he must like Leo. My best friend smiled before he rolled his eyes at me.
“It was nice meeting you too,” Leo said.
He put his coffee down and gave me a head nod.
“I’ll see you after work,” Gabe said.
“See you at homeee,” I sang.
I closed the sliding door and started cleaning up my work area. Bright lights flashed as they turned into the parking lot. I looked to my right as a BMW parked in the spot right next to my car. The door opened and out walked the new girl.
