Chapter 500: The Duel Between Two Women

Alaric's question left Gillian speechless once again.

"Alaric, how come I never noticed you were mean before? Even if I bought it, it's still from my heart," Gillian said, feeling wronged. "I had this breakfast from the chef yesterday, and it was delicious, so I specially bought it for you."

Alaric checked the time and changed the subject, "It's almost noon, so let's consider it lunch. Since you like it, let's eat together."

With that, Alaric pushed the breakfast Gillian brought over to her. It was clear he intended to eat what Stellan had brought him.

"I'm not eating." Gillian refused angrily.

"Then why did you bring it for me if you're not eating it yourself?"

Gillian totally pissed off. When did Alaric become so mean?

Seeing her so angry, Alaric, with a sigh, kindly reminded her, "You're in your twenties now. Stop acting like a child. Mr. Emberlyn is getting older and can't protect you forever. You need to act your age."

"I know. Ever since my dad retired, he's been nagging me all the time. Now there's you too."

"Nagging is for your own good. With your temper, how many men can tolerate you? Watch out, or you might stay single." Alaric voiced half-jokingly.

It appears these words really resonated with Gillian. She looked at him for a few seconds before speaking, "By the way, is Stellan coming to tonight's dinner?"

Actually, Stellan hadn't replied to him yet, so he didn't know if she would come. But since Gillian asked, he gave a definite answer: "Of course, Mr. Emberlyn rarely comes to Arizona, so I naturally want to bring my wife to meet him."

"Got it," Gillian replied. "Well, I'll let you get back to work. See you tonight."

After saying that, Gillian glanced at the breakfast she brought and added, "If you don't eat it, just throw it away yourself."

With that, Gillian walked out. After she left, Alaric looked down at the breakfast Stellan had brought him and couldn't help but smile. It was worth sleeping in the car all night.

But this breakfast would have to serve as lunch. After eating, Alaric continued working. Around 4 PM, Stellan called him, "I'll go with you to tonight's dinner."

From the fact that she brought him breakfast, Alaric knew there was hope for having dinner together.

"Great, I'll come pick you up right away."

Since they both had military backgrounds and Thomas was his superior, they were very punctual. If they agreed on 5 PM, he had to be there before 5 PM.

After finishing the call with Stellan, Alaric grabbed his car keys and left the office. He parked the car outside the yard and called Stellan to let her come out.

Alaric leaned casually against the car, waiting for hert. When he saw Stellan coming out of the yard, he was genuinely stunned.

She was wearing a long white dress with floral prints, a diamond necklace accentuating her sexy collarbone, and her exposed skin was incredibly alluring.

Her fresh and elegant makeup made her look poised and graceful, outshining everyone without heavy makeup.

"How do I look? Is this outfit appropriate?" Stellan asked, standing in front of Alaric.

Alaric composed himself, finding it hard to believe. Was this really Stellan? He had never seen her dress so formally, even for a ball. What was going on today?

"What's wrong? Don't I look good? If not, I can go change." Stellan said, starting to doubt her own taste as Alaric remained silent for a long time.

"No, you look beautiful, it's just..."

Before Alaric could finish, another car stopped in front of them. The driver immediately opened the door, and out came Gillian.

To Alaric's surprise, Gillian was also dressed up. Just the past few days, her style had been casual with a playful high ponytail.

Now she had long, wavy hair draped over her shoulders, with exquisite makeup and high heels.

"Alaric, my dad might arrive early, so I came to find you first. Let's go together," Gillian voiced.

Alaric looked at Stellan, then at Gillian, feeling it was really strange.

"You two are quite in sync, both dressed so formally. But aren't you cold?"

It's late fall, and they're wearing dresses that expose skin?

"Not cold at all," Gillian replied first.

"Yeah, today's temperature isn't that low. Where's the cold?" Stellan added.

Alaric started to doubt himself. Was today's temperature high?

"So, you're Alaric's wife?" Gillian walked up to Stellan and uttered assertively, "We just met at the company this morning, Ms. Storm. Hello, I'm Gillian."

"Ms. Emberlyn, nice to meet you," Stellan replied gracefully. "Alaric has told me that Mr. Emberlyn is the person he respects the most. Since you're his daughter, we're family. Just call me Stellan."

Alaric now understood why both Stellan and Gillian were dressed up.

"Since Mr. Emberlyn might arrive early, let's get in the car," Alaric interrupted, worried that Stellan might get cold.

As Alaric opened the door, it was clear that Gillian intended to get in too. Seeing this, Stellan proactively voiced, "Gillian, come in. Alaric grew up with you, and I'd love to get to know you."

"Sure," Gillian answered, bending down to get into the car. "Stellan, I've been wanting to chat with you too."

"Likewise." Stellan voiced as she got into the car.

Alaric didn't like using a driver, so he was driving. Stellan and Gillian sat in the back seat, and the atmosphere was really strange.

Seeing them dressed so lightly, Alaric thoughtfully tried to turn on the car's heater, but as soon as he did, Stellan stopped him, "Alaric, no need to turn it on. It's really not cold."

"Alaric, better turn it on. I'm fine, but Stellan is almost thirty and has had three kids. Her health isn't as good as a young person's. What if she catches a cold?" Gillian uttered.

Stellan gave a faint smile, remarking, "True, Alaric, turn it on. Even though I'm a doctor and know how to prevent colds, if I do get sick, you would definitely feel bad for me."
