Chapter 632 Ugly Woman Matches Cripple, Quite a Pair

"Mr. Tristram Rivers just told me to fix up your leg and help with your mental stuff. Nothing more."

Tristram had mentioned that after the explosion, Ryder got super paranoid, thinking everyone was out to get him, which made him feel unsafe. "If it makes you feel better, I can stay on the line during my chats with your brother, or record them for you to listen to."

Stay on the line? Or record the conversations?

Aurora had some ideas!

"Ryder, I get what you've been through. Your family is really worried about you, especially your brother. He's concerned about your condition. Otherwise, he wouldn't have..."

"Shut up!" Ryder snapped. "My family's business is none of your concern, and don't mention Tristram's name in front of me!"

"Yeah, I overstepped."

"I'm going to eat now. Get out of my sight!"

Aurora didn't say anything. She quietly moved aside and helped Eva with the chores. Since she had nothing else to do, she figured she might as well assist the elderly woman with her work.

Ryder glanced at Aurora again before starting to eat. Ever since his accident, only Eva had been around to cook for him. He was tired of her food, but he couldn't hire a chef, so he had to endure it.

After two years of eating Eva's cooking, Ryder found Aurora's food surprisingly delicious. He looked at her again, pondered for a moment, then lowered his head and continued eating.

Ryder's attitude towards Aurora remained poor, and he didn't cooperate with her treatment. However, he didn't tell her to leave. She cooked all the meals over the weekend, and he ate them all.

When the weekend ended, Aurora had to return to school. She dreaded going to that school and those people who constantly bullied and mocked her.

Aurora used to arrive at school early, but now she timed her arrival to avoid interacting with them before class. She sat near the back door so she could quickly leave after class, avoiding any contact with them.

Every minute at school felt like an eternity. She felt like a thief, counting down the days until summer break.

It felt like half a century, but finally, it was Friday again. As soon as class ended, Aurora rushed out the back door. Jade smirked as she watched her. "Kelly, doesn't she look like a rat running through the streets?"

"Yeah, a rat that scurries away as soon as it sees us cats," Kelly sneered.

"Exactly. But you have to admit, she's got a strong mental fortitude. She hasn't gotten depressed or dropped out despite everything.""If she doesn't drop out, we'll just keep messing with her. I did some digging." Kelly, the school's queen bee, had tons of admirers and a vast network. "Guess who she's connected with in the Rivers family?"

"Who?"

"The crippled son."

"What? Him? I heard he got messed up in an explosion and is stuck in a wheelchair, never leaving the house. Aurora's with him?"

Kelly nodded mockingly. Jade couldn't help but laugh. "I thought she was with the eldest son. Turns out it's the cripple. But you know, they do make a fitting pair."

"Yeah, an ugly girl and a cripple. Perfect match," Kelly said arrogantly.

After leaving the classroom, Aurora ran, hoping to get off campus quickly. But halfway there, a group of boys blocked her path.

"Aurora, we heard you landed a rich guy?"

Aurora looked up at them. The leader was one of Kelly's admirers. They knew Kelly was targeting her, so they were doing this to get on her good side.

"No," Aurora tried to walk around them. "Please move."

But they deliberately blocked her way, even surrounding her.

"Come on, we're classmates. Don't be so stingy. You landed a rich guy, treat us to a meal."

"I said I didn't. Move, I need to go!" Aurora pushed through them, trying to escape.

But the boys were tall and had long limbs. One of them grabbed her backpack, and the momentum pulled her to the ground.

Her elbow hit the ground, scraping it, and her phone fell from her hand.

"Why are you running? We just wanted you to treat us to a meal."

"What are you doing?" The school security guard shouted as he ran over. Seeing Aurora on the ground surrounded by boys, he scolded them. "A bunch of boys bullying a girl. Aren't you ashamed? Get lost!"

The boys quickly scattered. Aurora stood up.

"Thank you," she said gratefully to the guard, then quickly ran out of the school.

Once outside, she felt relieved. School was too oppressive. She felt like everyone was out to bully her.

She checked her phone. The screen was cracked. Cormac had bought it for her when she started college. It was expensive for her, so she took great care of it. After two years, it still looked new, but now it was damaged.

She went to a repair shop to inquire about fixing it, but it was too expensive. She decided against it, but the cracked screen pained her.

Every weekend, she went to Ryder's place. She no longer had Tristram send a car for her. Because of the phone repair, she arrived much later than usual."You said you had a sense of duty. Look at the time!" Ryder scolded as soon as she walked in.

"Sorry, I got held up."

"Dr. Ryan, I made Mr. Rivers' meal, but he refuses to eat it. Can you..." Eva said to Aurora.

"I'll handle it." Aurora put down her backpack. Ryder glanced at her. The scar on her hand was faint, but her arm had bruises, and her elbow was scraped and bleeding.

Aurora served Ryder his meal. Eva said, "Dr. Ryan, you're supposed to be Mr. Rivers' private doctor, but you're doing all this extra work."

"It's no trouble," Aurora replied calmly.

As soon as she finished speaking, the house phone rang. Eva quickly answered it.

"Okay, I'll let Mr. Ryder Rivers know," Eva said."I'll handle it." Aurora put down her backpack. Ryder glanced at her. The scar on her hand was faint, but her arm had bruises, and her elbow was scraped and bleeding.
