Chapter 589 Josep is Missing

Stellan asked, "What did you say?"

"Doesn't he have some kind of beef with Tommy? Has he ever told you that Tommy's not who he seems, or found out something shady about him?"

"No, he hasn't."

Stellan genuinely didn't know because Alaric had never mentioned anything about Tommy's true identity to her.

"Really? So, Tommy's actually on a business trip this time? Alaric didn't tell you anything else?"

Ever since Tommy told her he was going on a business trip, she had been uneasy. Not being able to contact him for so many days made her even more anxious.

She finally saw a message from Tommy, but it didn't sound like his usual way of speaking, which worried her even more.

"If he's not on a business trip, then what is he doing? I'm afraid he's lying to me."

Stellan replied, "Mr. Reaves has been by your side every single day since you were hospitalized. If he wasn't really on a business trip, do you think he'd leave the hospital?"

"You're right. He must be on a business trip." Gillian patted her chest and let out a big sigh of relief. Hearing Stellan say that finally put her at ease.

Knowing he was truly on a business trip, she could rest and recover in the hospital, waiting for him to return.

"Stellan, Alaric is the kind of guy who loves to please his wife. He listens to you about everything. If he ever brings up any suspicions about Tommy again, could you speak up for Tommy? Tell him to let it go. Alaric is so busy with his work; he doesn't need to be playing detective and wasting time on Tommy."

Gillian was genuinely afraid something might happen to Tommy. She was already very dependent on him, and after getting injured, she relied on him even more because of how well he took care of her.

"Gillian, you really love Mr. Reaves."

"Of course I do. I've been in the hospital for over a month with burns, and he's been by my side day and night, taking care of me. He applies ointment to my entire body several times a day. Not many men would do that."

That was true. Since Gillian had been hospitalized with burns, Tommy's care for her was evident to everyone. Not many men would do that.

"Then you need to take good care of yourself, get better soon, and marry him and have kids." Stellan said, "Alright, I won't bother you anymore. Get some rest."

Gillian replied, "Okay."

Stellan left the room and saw Alaric waiting outside.

"What did you two talk about for so long?" Alaric asked.

Stellan told him everything they had discussed. After hearing it, Alaric couldn't help but sigh, "They say pregnancy makes you silly, and it seems to be true."

Gillian might not believe it, but since Stellan had said it, she believed it wholeheartedly. That was good.

"Who are you calling silly? What do you mean by that, Alaric?"

"Nothing, just saying it's nice to see two innocent girls chatting."

"Alaric, you're insulting me!"

"I wouldn't dare insult you." Alaric couldn't help but smile. After admitting his mistake, he said, "Now that Gillian's condition is stable and there are doctors here, we don't need to stay at the hospital. Let's bring the kids home tonight."

"You're right. Harry and Elisa have been at school for a while now."

They went to the school to pick up Harry and Elisa and told them that Stellan was having a girl.

As expected, Harry jumped up in excitement.

"Wow, that's awesome! I'm going to have a sister! Finally, a sister!"

Elisa rolled her eyes and complained, "Harry, what about me? Am I invisible? How can you say you're finally getting a sister right in front of me?"

"You're Caspian's sister. You can wait for him to come back from the military and protect you. Don't count on me. The baby in Mom's belly is my real sister."

Harry turned to Alaric and Stellan, excitedly saying, "Dad, Mom, this is my real sister. She should have my last name!"

Her last name would be Storm?

"I've already thought of a name: Evelyn Storm. Isn't it great? She'll be smart, kind, and well-behaved. Not like Elisa, who's all brawn and no brains, and greedy."

Hearing this, Elisa wanted to punch him. "Why couldn't you have gone to the military instead of Caspian? Such a good brother, gone for years, and I'm stuck with you, annoying me every day."

"He wanted to go, and I didn't. Doesn't that just make you mad?"

Elisa was indeed furious.

Alaric and Stellan just smiled. They loved hearing the kids bicker; it was a cute distraction from their worries.

Back home, Harry was suddenly very attentive to Stellan, bringing her tea and water, all to take care of his sister in her belly. Elisa, on the other hand, ignored him.

It had been a while since they felt so relaxed. Alaric's other reason for bringing Harry and Elisa home was to have them keep Stellan company while he dealt with Marigold's anniversary.

That night, after Harry and Elisa went to bed, Alaric helped Stellan into bed. It felt like they hadn't been home in ages.

"In the later stages of pregnancy, sleeping can be uncomfortable. If you need anything, let me know."

Turning over wasn't easy, and her feet and legs would swell. Sleeping could cause cramps, so there were many issues.

"I know. Don't worry. If I'm uncomfortable, I'll call you."

"Alright, then get some sleep."

Alaric pulled Stellan close. Just as he was about to close his eyes, Stellan called out, "Alaric."

"What's wrong?"

"I know Marigold's anniversary is coming up. I'll go with you," Stellan said.

She remembered Marigold's anniversary?

"You don't have to. I can go alone."

"I'm serious," Stellan said. "It's been a year since she passed. I'm a mother now too. She wasn't good to me, but she was good to you. As your wife, I should go with you to pay respects. Plus, my belly is big now; she should see it."

Alaric was touched by her words and nodded, "Alright, we'll go together."

"Okay."

Over the next two days, Alaric and Stellan prepared for Marigold's anniversary, while Gillian, now reassured, focused on recovering in the hospital.

Meanwhile, Tommy's situation remained unchanged. No matter how many times Neil interrogated him, his story didn't change.

"After all this time, you still haven't found anything else?" Alaric asked Neil over the phone.

"No. This is a big case, and the higher-ups are very concerned. Hearing that Tiger was caught, the department is eager to write reports and take credit. They even wanted to notify the media to report on it, but I managed to stop them."

Alaric understood. The capture of a terrorist leader was big news. If the media reported it, it would explode.

Public attention and pressure would push for Tommy's death sentence, which would be disastrous.

"I understand. After my mother's anniversary, we'll meet and go over everything again. We must have missed something important."

"Alright, take care of your mother's anniversary first."

"Okay."

After hanging up, Alaric sighed.

"Alaric." Stellan hurried over, looking flustered. Alaric quickly went to support her. "You're pregnant; walk slower."

"Alaric, Josep's phone is off," Stellan said. "A patient's family came to my office today. They had been seeing Josep, and the patient's condition worsened. They didn't trust anyone else and wanted to consult Josep. I called him several times, but his phone was off."

Josep's phone was off?

Alaric tried calling once, and it was indeed off. He rushed to Josep's place, only to find it empty.

Josep had disappeared?

Did his last words to Josep get to him? Was Josep trying to save Tommy, or did he run away?

Alaric quickly called Neil, "Neil, Tommy's uncle Josep has disappeared. Keep a close eye on Tommy."
