Chapter 591 If You Can't Figure It Out, Change Your Approach

The three women could chat endlessly, leaving the men with nothing to add.

Alaric saying, "Galatea, you get some rest. I'm heading out." He had to visit Marigold's grave alone since Stellan couldn't make it.

"Alright, you go ahead," Stellan replied. "I've got Rowena and Gillian here with me, so don't worry."

Seeing Alaric about to leave, Cormac quickly offered, "I'll go with you."

With the three women there, he had no one to talk to anyway, so he might as well tag along with Alaric.

"Rowena, I'm going with Alaric. If you feel any discomfort, call me right away."

"We're in a hospital, what are you worried about? Just go," Rowena reassured him.

"Okay," Cormac said, following Alaric out of the room.

Once outside, Alaric glanced at Cormac and said, "Weren't you the one who only gave me half an hour before? Why are you suddenly willing to come with me to mourn my mom?"

"With the three women there, what am I supposed to do? Besides, it's Stellan's hospital. With Rowena there, I have nothing to worry about."

"Are you feeling guilty about sending those intimate messages to Gillian on Tommy's behalf? Cormac, you're something else—taking care of Rowena while sending flirty texts to Gillian every day."

"Come on, don't make it sound like I'm cheating. I'm just doing a good deed," Cormac explained. "You've seen how happy Gillian is now, smiling every day and recovering quickly. When she's fully recovered, we can tell her the harsh truth, and she'll be able to handle it."

Alaric couldn't believe what he was hearing and chose to ignore him. After a while, Cormac asked, "What's going on with Stellan? Why did she suddenly have stomach pains?"

"Josep is missing."

"Josep is missing?" Cormac asked urgently. "Why?"

"If I knew why, I wouldn't be so anxious."

"Alaric, aren't you supposed to be capable? Where's your skill now? Tommy really is your kryptonite, isn't he? You lose your head whenever it involves him."

"Cormac, if you keep talking like this, I'll kick you out of the car. I didn't ask you to come with me."

Cormac shut up at that, and they continued to the cemetery. This was the first time Alaric had visited since Marigold's funeral.

Cormac helped Alaric arrange the flowers, while Alaric cleared some weeds around the tombstone.

"Since Mrs. Marigold Knight passed away, you haven't been back to the Knight Manor, have you?"

"No, it's been empty."

Marigold had lived there alone with a few maids, and after her unexpected death, the staff left, leaving the manor vacant.

Alaric had avoided going back, unable to face the memories. He hadn't even sent anyone to clean it, so it was likely covered in dust by now.

"Are you just going to leave it like that? In a few years, it'll turn into a haunted house."

Alaric thought, 'The Knight Manor can be considered one, too.  Mom have died there, and it hasn't been occupied for years, so it definitely gives off that vibe.'

"Then sell it cheap and donate the money. Consider it my mom's way of giving back to society."

Cormac replied, "That works."

Alaric said, "You handle it. I don't have time for this right now."

"You need to clear your head," Cormac suggested. "When you're stuck on something, stop thinking about it. Change your perspective, do something else, and then come back to it. You might suddenly figure it out. Didn't you say you felt like you were just missing something? Maybe you'll realize what it is."

"Cormac, you really are a psychologist. That makes sense."

"Of course, I'm a professional," Cormac said, checking the time. "Since the women are at the hospital, we don't need to worry. Let's visit the Knight Manor, sort through Mrs. Marigold Knight's belongings, and have your assistant sell the house."

Alaric didn't respond. His mind was indeed muddled, as Cormac had said. He felt like he was in a dead end, unable to find the way out.

So, he decided to do something else. It had been a long time since he visited the Knight Manor.

After leaving the cemetery, they went to the Knight Manor. As soon as they entered, they were hit by the smell of dust.

Cormac couldn't help but gag and complain, "You really haven't taken care of this place. You should have at least had someone clean it."

Alaric remained silent.

Returning here again, he felt a surge of mixed emotions. He had been unconscious here for three years, during which Marigold took care of him. After he woke up, he moved out, and now, after Marigold's death, this place had truly become a haunted house.

Alaric went upstairs without a word. The Knight Manor was large, with many rooms. He headed to Marigold's bedroom and study to pick out a few meaningful items to keep.

Cormac followed him into the study, feeling nostalgic. "It's really empty now. It used to be so lively when Mrs. Marigold Knight was alive. Now it's just deserted."

Alaric remained silent. The place was filled with memories, and he didn't have the courage to come back a second time. He decided to take the important items and sell the house.

Alaric started sorting through things, and Cormac helped. From the bottom of a drawer, Cormac found an old photo album. "Look, a real antique."

He blew the dust off and opened it, revealing photos from Alaric's childhood.

"Mrs. Marigold Knight was really meticulous. She organized these photos chronologically," Cormac said, flipping through the album. "Look at your face as a kid. How did I put up with you? You never smiled, and after joining the military, you got even colder, like everyone owed you money."

Alaric glanced at the album, seeing a photo of himself in uniform from his teenage years.

He hadn't paid much attention at first, but then something clicked. He snatched the album from Cormac, startling him.

"What the hell? You scared me!"

Alaric didn't respond, flipping through the album. He finally found what he had been missing, and everything suddenly made sense.
