Chapter 540: Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were already thinking about dividing the inheritance.

Since Mia is back now, Stellan is visibly happy. Plus, Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were brought back in the evening, making the house lively all of a sudden.

"Mia's back!" Seeing Mia return, Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were overjoyed, dropping their backpacks and running towards her.

"Mia, why did you run away from home? We missed you so much, we thought we'd never see you again," Elisa spoke, stretching out her little arms to hug Mia, looking up at her.

"It was my fault for worrying you. I promise I won't run away from home again. You mustn't follow my example, no matter what happens."

"Don't worry, Mia," Harry voiced, clear-headed as always. "I'm waiting to get my family fortune. If I ran away, wouldn't that benefit Caspian? I would never do such a thing, so I won't run away no matter what."

"All you think about is inheriting the family fortune. That's your only ambition." Caspian retorted immediately.

"If your ambitions are so grand, then promise you won't take any of the family fortune in the future. I'll thank you now." Harry replied.

"It's okay, Caspian. If you really don't want the inheritance, I'll give you half of my share." Elisa comforted Caspian.

"Thank you, Elisa."

Hearing this, Alaric and Stellan fell silent, especially Alaric. He was still young and healthy, yet the three children were already thinking about dividing the inheritance! How outrageous!

"Mia's back, and we're all happy. You all chat, I'll go cook," After speaking, Alaric changed clothes and headed to the kitchen. He wanted to make a good impression on such a joyous occasion.

Before starting to cook, he took out his phone to check. No calls or messages.

'Had Thomas already boarded the plane? Was he really coming over now? Would he be furious with Gillian when he arrived? Forget it.' Alaric thought.

He had already told Thomas without anu regret. After all, Thomas was Gillian's father and had the right to know about such a big matter. If he approved of Tommy as his son-in-law, then Alaric wouldn't have to worry about it anymore.

Alaric was always quick. After he finished cooking, the servants brought the food to the table. Alaric then said to Mia, "Mia, come sit with us."

"No," Mia refused, quickly stepping back in fear. "I'm just a servant. How can I sit and eat with you? That's not right."

Alaric went over, took her arm, and brought her to the table, explaining, "To Stellan, you were never a servant. You took care of her since she was little. When she was in critical condition during childbirth, it was thanks to you. So in her heart, you are like a mother to her, which makes you my mother-in-law. Naturally, you should sit and eat with us. I apologize for the past."

Hearing this, Mia was terrified and replied repeatedly, "No, I can't. I'm just a servant. How dare I be your mother-in-law? No, Mr. Knight, please don't scare me. I can't do this!"

"Mia, don't refuse," Stellan comforted her, pulling her to a seat. "If you refuse again, I'll get angry."

"Yeah, Mia, my mommy has a baby in her belly. If she gets angry, she might have a premature birth," Elisa suggested.

"Zoe, you've watched so many TV shows, don't you know this? Mommy's pregnancy is still early, that's called a miscarriage." Harry corrected.

"Alright," Elisa spoke seriously to Mia. "Mia, did you hear that? If you refuse again, my mommy will have a miscarriage, and my little brother will be gone."

"How can you be so sure it's a boy? It could be a girl." Harry voiced.

"Boy!"

"Girl!"

"Boy!"

"Girl!"

"Shut up!" Stellan scolded. "You're so noisy."

Harry and Elisa pouted reluctantly but obediently sat down at the table. Harry whispered to Elisa, "We were only thinking about ourselves and forgot there's a baby in mommy's belly."

"Exactly. We need to behave, or what if all the inheritance goes to the baby in mommy's belly?" Elisa replied worriedly. "I love money so much, I'd be miserable without it."

"Yes, let's tough it out for the money."

Although Alaric couldn't hear what Harry and Elisa were whispering about, he could guess they were plotting about the inheritance again. He felt particularly helpless.

Seeing this, Mia didn't dare refuse anymore. After all, Stellan was pregnant and needed to be accommodated.

The meal was joyful, and Stellan was so happy that she didn't even feel nauseous after eating.

After the meal, Mia accompanied Stellan for a walk in the garden. In the living room, only Alaric, Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were left. Seeing their expressions, Alaric deliberately spoke, "Stop thinking about the inheritance. If you don't work hard, I'll donate all the money and leave nothing for you."

"How cruel!" Harry couldn't help but complain. "You live a wealthy life but want to make your kids poor. What kind of thinking is that?"

"Yeah, Daddy, you live in comfort and enjoy life, but you want us to be poor when we grow up. That's so mean." Elisa commented.

"It's to remind you to work hard. If you don't, you won't be able to keep the wealth you inherit. Understand?" Alaric lectured them seriously.

"You're overthinking it," Caspian replied seriously. "I can't speak for Harry, but I will definitely be better than you when I grow up!"

With that, Caspian went upstairs. Harry was furious and shouted at his back, "Caspian, what do you mean by that? I'll tell you, even if I'm worse than anyone else, I'll still be better than you. Do you hear me?"

Caspian was already on the second floor and didn't respond.

"I really want to curse," Harry complained to Alaric. "Daddy, why is Caspian so mean?"

Alaric remained silent.

"Daddy, what about Gillian? Is she not living with us anymore?" Elisa asked.

"Yes."

Gillian had fallen in love. How could she come back to live here?

Alaric was right. Gillian was indeed in love, especially at night. When the lights went out, she was particularly excited, even more so than Tommy.
