Chapter 573: Will Tommy Die?
Since Alaric was treating, Gillian didn't hold back and deliberately chose the most expensive place.
She was indeed a bit anxious now. If it were up to her, she wouldn't know what to do, so having a coffee and sitting down was good enough.
"Mr. Knight shouldn't be extremely busy? How come you're so free, not working and out for coffee?" Gillian asked.
"I was supposed to go back to the company, but I just happened to ran into you. You looked so out of it, I was worried you'd get hit by a car." Alaric finished and directly asked, "What's wrong with you?"
"Am I really that out of it?" Gillian smiled as if nothing was wrong, "I don't think so."
Alaric just gave a cold snort and said nothing.
"How are things with Tommy lately? Thomas has agreed to you dating him. Since you're so into him, you should be getting married soon, right?" Alaric asked.
Alaric didn't directly ask about them buying a house, just inquired indirectly. If Gillian brought it up, he would definitely help. If she didn't, then so be it.
Gillian replied, "Of course I want to, but now that I'm living with him, staying together every day, it's no different from being married."
"That's true." Alaric asked again, "You've been with him for several months now, everything's been good, right?"
Alaric was actually indirectly inquiring about Tommy. Previously, Gillian hadn't paid much attention to his questions, but this time, his question made her pause.
It seemed like Alaric had been asking her if Tommy had any unusual behavior, and about his phone.
If she hadn't accidentally discovered that Tommy had such an account today, she wouldn't have paid attention to that old phone. But now that she thought about it, that phone was indeed suspicious.
Tommy had been an undercover cop several months ago, and he had worn that jacket before. Being such a meticulous person, how could he not feel a phone in his clothes?
"Alaric." Gillian tried to remain calm and natural, asking, "Why do you keep asking about Tommy? Do you have any reason to suspect him? Suspect him of what?"
Gillian admitted she wasn't that calm now.
"Suspect him of being a murderer on the run for years? A big drug lord hiding among ordinary people? Or a high-level spy sent by a foreign country to Country A?" She continued.
After asking, seeing Alaric not speaking, she started guessing wildly, but saying these things made her heart tremble. She was really scared and worried.
"Aren't you indifferent? Why do you suddenly care today?" Alaric asked.
"I'm not indifferent, it's you who keeps asking. I'm just cooperating with you." Gillian asked again, "Why don't you tell me? I'm right beside Tommy, if there's anything, I can help you look into it."
"Don't think like that, it's not your job to look into it." Alaric reminded, "You've been with him for so long. If there was something, you'd have found it by now. If he really was the type you're talking about, he'd be dead by now."
As Alaric finished speaking, Gillian accidentally dropped the coffee stirrer, making a loud noise as it hit the coffee cup.
"Sorry, my hand slipped." Gillian quickly explained.
Seeing her reaction, Alaric's eyes flashed, then he looked at her and asked, "Did you really find something?"
"Yes, I did." Gillian replied quickly this time.
"What did you find?" Alaric asked eagerly.
"I found that Tommy is really excellent. You don't know, a few days ago we went out shopping and encountered a robbery. Tommy heroically saved me. You should have seen it, he was so handsome, he was simply..." Gillian responded.
"Gillian, I'm talking about serious matters!" Alaric spoke seriously.
"I'm also being serious, how is this not serious?" Gillina uttered.
"Gillian, I'm not joking. If you find anything, you must tell me immediately. Someone as intelligent as Tommy, if he has another identity, it could be very dangerous." Alaric finished and asked again, "I'll ask you one more time, did you find anything?"
"No!" Gillian blurted out, seemingly without thinking. From Alaric's words just now, she seemed to have concluded that if she said anything, Tommy would die.
Maybe Gillian was very stupid, very irrational, but at the moment she heard Tommy might die, the only thing in her mind was not wanting him to die, nothing else.
"Alright, it's best if there's nothing." Seeing her so resolute, Alaric didn't ask further.
After finishing the meal, Alaric drove her back to the neighborhood. Once inside, Gillian wandered aimlessly, feeling very anxious.
'Does Tommy really have another identity? What could it be? Would he really die?'
As she was thinking, her phone received a message from Tommy.
[Gillian, I have a meeting later, I'll be home late tonight. Wait for me to cook for you. If you're really hungry, order takeout first.]
[Okay.] Gillian replied, then headed home. But when she took out her key to open the door, she couldn't find it in her bag. Did she lose them?
She had been to so many places today, constantly taking things in and out of her bag. Did she really lose the keys?
"This is really unfortunate!" Gillian complained.
Tommy was in a meeting now, so she couldn't call him. Besides, if she did, he would probably change the locks again. With no other choice, she called a locksmith.
Because Tommy had installed a high-security lock, it took the locksmith a long time to open it.
Back home, she went into the study first, sitting dazed for several minutes. On the desk was a study plan Tommy had written for her. It was clear he was very thoughtful, listing out what lessons she should study each day and how many practice papers to do, making a detailed plan for a whole month.
Since being with him, she really hadn't worried about anything. No matter how tired Tommy was from work, he would always cook for her first when he got home, without any complaints.
He would explain problems to her, repeating as many times as needed until she understood, never showing impatience.
When there was a dangerous task, he was the first to step forward. That time when they were looking for Mia, he didn't have to go himself, but to persuade Mia to come back, he went overnight.
Could such a person be a bad guy?
Thinking about it gave her a headache. Gillian couldn't think anymore, but one thing was certain: if Tommy really died one day, she would be completely devastated.
Just the thought of Tommy dying made her heart ache. She couldn't think about it! She needed to find something to do.
But she couldn't focus on reading, and she was hungry now, so she decided to try cooking, something she had never done before, to keep herself busy.
But cooking was something Gillian really didn't know how to do. She was following instructions on her phone step by step. After a lot of effort cutting the vegetables, the first step was to wash the pan, then put it on the stove, add oil, and then...
As soon as she added the oil, it splattered everywhere, burning her hand. It hurt so much!
The oil kept splattering, and she was so scared she didn't know what to do.
Tommy walked in just then and saw this scene. He quickly ran into the kitchen, pulled Gillian away, covered the pan with a lid, and turned off the stove.
"Did the oil splatter on your hand?" Tommy quickly took her hand and looked at it. The burn had already blistered.
Tommy hurriedly took her to the sink to run cold water over it, then took her to the living room.
"We have ointment at home, wait here."
Tommy quickly fetched the ointment and carefully applied it to her burn.
"I told you to wait for me to cook. If you're really hungry, order takeout. How could you cook by yourself?" Tommy spoke while applying the ointment, then looked up and asked, "How are you, does it hurt?"
Gillian just looked into Tommy's eyes. The worry and concern in his eyes were definitely real.
"Tommy." Gillian voiced.
"What's wrong? Does it hurt a lot?" Tommy asked.
"Tommy." Gillian called him again, looking straight into his eyes, and asked, "If you really have something you're hiding from me, can you find a way to hide it from me for a lifetime?"
