Chapter 509: Stellan is in the hospital?

Tommy was now waiting for her in the temporary reception room at the construction site. Hearing that he had something important to discuss, Stellan felt a bit uneasy.

Seeing Stellan walk in, Tommy quickly stood up and politely greeted, "Ms. Storm."

"You don't need to call me Ms. Storm anymore; this isn't Nexus Innovations."

"Alright, then I'll call you Mrs. Knight."

"That's fine." Stellan motioned for him to sit. After they having seated, she asked, "Tommy, what brings you here today?"

"This time, it's about work. I'm now in charge of the case of Marigold's accidental death. I've reviewed the case files in detail. It was a straightforward case and had been closed earlier, but now, with new witnesses, it needs to be re-investigated." Tommy uttered.

""

"And then?" Stellan questioned calmly, "Tommy, what are your findings?"

"To be honest, there are no clear results yet," Tommy explained. "Currently, the witnesses are contradicting each other. Two maids claim they saw Marigold fall accidentally, while Hestia says she saw you push her. I've spoken to all of them.

Although I didn't use any lie detectors or other devices, based on my experience, the two maids who said Marigold fell accidentally are clearly less confident than Hestia. If we were to use some lie detection methods, it would be easy to break them down. Mrs. Knight, you understand what I mean, right?"

"No, I don't." Stellan responded calmly.

Tommy smiled awkwardly and continued to explain, "Let me make it clearer. In such cases, relying solely on testimonies is not enough for a verdict. But if one side can't withstand the pressure and admits to lying, the case can be closed. To put it more bluntly, if those two maids admit to lying and giving false testimony, even if you didn't push Marigold down the stairs, the case would still conclude that you did!"

Stellan looked into Tommy's eyes, her gaze carrying seduction.

"Tommy, are you suggesting I turn myself in and seek a reduced sentence?"

"Yes, Mrs. Knight," Tommy advised kindly. "I am grateful to you and don't want to see that outcome, so..."

"Can I sue Hestia?"

"What?" Tommy was caught off guard by Stellan's sudden change of topic.

"I asked, can I sue Hestia for falsely accusing me of manslaughter?"

"Of course, that's your right."

"Good," Stellan replied firmly. "Tommy, I appreciate your advice to turn myself in, but I don't want to be wrongfully accused of something I didn't do."

"I understand," Tommy explained again. "Mrs. Knight, I hope my visit today hasn't caused you any trouble. It's just that my superiors have been pushing for quick resolutions on all cases."

"I understand; it's your job."

"Mrs. Knight, I'm glad you understand, and I'm also happy to see you so resolute. I don't want to see a bad outcome, and I believe what you just said," Tommy said.

"Thank you." Seeing Tommy stand up, Stellan also stood up, but suddenly felt a sharp pain in her stomach.

"Mrs. Knight, are you alright? Are you feeling unwell?" Tommy asked quickly.

"It's nothing, just a bit of stomach pain," Stellan answered, trying to straighten up. "It's fine, Tommy, I'll see you out."

Stellan tried to endure the pain to see Tommy out, but it became unbearable.

"Mrs. Knight?" Seeing her in obvious pain, Tommy immediately showed concern, "Mrs. Knight, hold on, I'll take you to the hospital right away."

Meanwhile, Alaric was still troubled about finding a job for Gillian that wouldn't interfere with his work.

"Alaric, just find me a job. Why is it so difficult for you?"

"I'm trying to think of a job that you can do without causing any loss to Nexus Innovations."

"What do you mean by that? I'm just asking for an internship; I won't wreck your company."

Just as Gillian finished speaking, Alaric's phone rang. Seeing it was an unfamiliar number, he hesitated but answered it.

"Mr. Knight, it's me."

That voice was Tommy?

"Why are you calling me?" Alaric was annoyed just hearing his voice.

"I had some something with Mrs. Knight today, and during our talking, she suddenly had severe stomach pain. I brought her to the hospital, and she's currently undergoing an examination."

"What? Stellan is in the hospital?" Alaric immediately became anxious. "Which hospital? I'm coming right away."

After Tommy gave the hospital address, Alaric ran out with car keys immdiately. Seeing him run off, Gillian quickly asked, "Alaric, where are you going?"

Alaric had no time to answer her, and Gillian hurriedly followed him.

In the car, Alaric's heart was racing.

'Severe stomach pain? She had mentioned some stomach pain over the past few days, but it didn't seem too bad and went away quickly. She said it was a premenstrual symptom, so he didn't pay much attention. How did she end up in the hospital? Could it be menstrual cramps? If not, could it be something more serious?'

The more Alaric thought about it, the more scared he became, and he sped towards the hospital. Once there, he ran straight to the emergency room.

Seeing Tommy outside the emergency room, he quickly approached and asked, "Where's Stellan?"

"The doctor gave her an injection, and she's asleep."

Alaric rushed into the room. As Tommy said, Stellan was asleep but looked particularly exhausted.

"What did the doctor say?" Alaric voiced anxiously. "Where are the test results? What illness does Stellan have?"

"You should ask the doctor yourself; he's in the duty room next door."

Seeing Tommy's deliberately suspenseful manner, Alaric, if not for his current anxiety, would have punched him.

Alaric hurriedly ran over, while Tommy glanced at the sleeping Stellan one more time. Seeing there was nothing more for him to do, he turned to left the room.

Since it was on the second floor, there was no need to take the elevator, so Tommy decided to use the stairs.

But just as he reached the stairwell, he bumped into Gillian, who was rushing up.

"Sorry," Gillian said, panting, as she looked down the long corridor, she turned to ask Tommy, "Have you seen someone named Stellan, who was brought to the emergency room?"
