Chapter 574: My Tommy Has Never Been a Bad Person
When Tommy heard Gillian's words, he was completely stunned. Had she discovered something else? Or had she realized something was wrong with that phone?
Before Tommy could react, Gillian hugged him, leaning on his shoulder.
"Tommy, I really love you adn I'm so scared of losing you. I love our life the way it is. I love how you take care of me every day. I don't want to change it." Gillian uttered in sad tone.
When she heard Alaric say that Tommy would die today, Gillian's heart had been aching ever since. She didn't know what other identities Tommy might have, but no matter what, Gillian knew that Tommy had never thought of hurting her.
In a relationship, a woman's sixth sense is very strong. Whether the other person loves her or not is actually very easy to feel.
"Gillian." Tommy called her name, but the words that followed suddenly got stuck in his throat. He didn't want to deceive her, but he really couldn't say anything.
"You don't have to say it. I don't want to know either." Gillian continued.
Gillian really didn't want to know. She was afraid that she wouldn't be able to handle it if she did.
"Tommy, let's leave Arizona, okay?" Gillian let go of him and looked at him, saying, "A few days ago, my dad said he could get you a job. Anyway, you don't keep in touch with your parents, so you have no ties, right? We can settle down anywhere. Leave Arizona and come home with me, okay?"
Leave Arizona? But he couldn't leave.
"Are you homesick?" Tommy took a deep breath and spoke evasively, "If you're homesick, I'll take you back tomorrow..."
"You know that's not what I mean. I'm not homesick. I want to leave with you." Gillian replied.
Tommy certainly understood what she meant, but...
"I'm sorry, Gillian. I can't leave Arizona. If you want to go home, then we..." Tommy felt sorry.
"I'm hungry!" Gillian quickly interrupted him. She knew what he was going to say.
Tommy just looked at her. This silly Gillian, even now, she was still willing to stay by his side.
"Then I'll go make you some food. Wait here, it won't take long." With that, Tommy hurried into the kitchen.
Gillian also walked to the kitchen door and watched him. He was still the same as before, very skilled and meticulous in his cooking.
Soon, Tommy finished cooking and brought the food to the dining table. The two of them sat down to eat together, without saying a word. In fact, neither of them had much of an appetite.
After they finished eating, Tommy got up to clean the dishes. He had always been like this, never letting Gillian do any cooking or housework.
"Tommy." Gillian still called out to him.
Tommy had to put down the dishes and look into her eyes, staring straight at her as she said word by word, "Alaric has his intuition, and I have mine. My intuition tells me that my Tommy has never been a bad person."
Hearing this, Tommy's expression couldn't help but twitch. His nose tingled, and he clenched his clothes tightly, causing wrinkles to form in his palm.
Suddenly, Tommy felt at a loss, not knowing what to do. Gillian then asked, "Do you want a cigarette? I'll get one for you."
"No need." Tommy quickly responded, "I've quit."
Tommy paused for a long time before changing the subject, "Did you do your practice test today?"
"Not yet." Gillian got up and replied, "I'll do it now."
"Okay." Tommy said slowly, "You go do that, and I'll take a shower. I'll check it for you later."
"Okay." Gillian responded and then went into the study.
Tommy didn't wash the dishes. He put them in the sink and hurried into the bathroom, closing the door, taking off his clothes, and turning on the shower to the maximum.
He let the water keep washing over him, as if trying hard to wash something away, but it seemed like it couldn't be washed away.
Back in the study, Gillian didn't have any mood to do the practice test. She regretted it a bit. Should she not have said anything?
Forget it, she had already said it.
Tommy took a long shower. Gillian forced herself to finish a practice test, but it was full of mistakes.
"Did I make a lot of mistakes?" Gillian asked.
"Not too many." Tommy answered, "It's too late. You should go to bed. I'll sort out the mistakes for you."
Gillian knew he was trying to avoid her. She nodded, "Okay."
After returning to the bedroom, Gillian lay down and closed her eyes, but she couldn't sleep. How could Tommy sleep either?
It was a long time before Tommy came into the bedroom. Gillian pretended to be asleep and didn't speak, but after a while, she still moved closer to his arms. Tommy naturally held her close.
Neither of them spoke or slept.
The next morning, Tommy got up to make her breakfast, and Gillian got up early too.
"Gillian, I have an early meeting today, so I need to leave early."
"Okay."
"Gillian."
"What?"
"Nothing." After hesitating for a long time, Tommy didn't say anything, "I'm leaving now. Take your time eating, and read after you're done."
"Okay." Gillian responded. Seeing Tommy about to leave, she reminded him, "Tommy, be careful at work."
"I know."
Ever since Alaric told her, she had been so afraid that Tommy would die, even afraid of Alaric because she knew Alaric too well.
If Tommy really had a problem and Alaric found out, he would definitely pursue it to the end.
Gillian put away her wild thoughts and went back to the study to read, but after a while, she yawned.
She had hardly slept all night, and now she had a terrible headache and couldn't keep her eyes open.
She couldn't hold on any longer. The more she read, the sleepier she got. She left the study, went into the bedroom, and threw herself onto the bed. She was really tired.
Once she got into bed, Gillian quickly fell into a deep sleep. She couldn't hear anything, not even when someone used a key to open the door to the house.
