Chapter 567: So, is his logic wrong?
Alaric had another socially awkward moment, all thanks to Gillian. She just had to turn off her phone at that moment, making him worry for nothing.
"Alaric, where did you go just now?"
Hearing from Cormac that Alaric had left in a hurry without saying why, Stellan was particularly worried.
"You said you couldn't reach Gillian on the phone, right? I couldn't either, so I went over to check on her."
"Did you see Gillian?"
"Yes," Alaric replied, "She was sleeping at home."
"She's your sister, how can you talk about her like that?"
If Gillian were really his sister, he'd have gone crazy ages ago and wouldn't be around now.
"By the way, Alaric, I heard from Cormac that Marigold's case is closed, and it was Tommy who insisted on closing it?" Stellan asked.
"Yes."
"Tommy helped me find Mia before, and now he closed the case. We really need to thank him properly." Stellan uttered.
"Got it. We'll find a chance to thank him properly later," Alaric agreed, pulling Stellan closer. "You've walked enough today, go home and rest early."
"Okay, I do feel tired. After all, I'm carrying a baby, and walking a bit makes me feel breathless."
"Then walk a bit and rest a bit, don't tire yourself out."
"Got it."
Today, Harry and Elisa had so much fun that they wanted to stay at Cormac's house. These two kids didn't need much attention, and Aurora was sensible too, so they could stay at Cormac's house if they wanted.
Stellan's body was already a bit heavy, so Alaric helped her into the car first, then got into the driver's seat himself.
After starting the car, Alaric suddenly voiced, "Stellan, did you tell me before that Neil asked you for your dad's list of friends?"
"Yes, but it looks like everyone on the list I gave him has been ruled out. I can't think of anyone else."
"Did your dad know Josep before?"
"Josep?" Stellan found the question quite amusing. "How could that be? It was after my family went bankrupt and my dad passed away that I went to Country M. I was in Country M for a long time before I decided to apply to the Institute of Medical Pioneers. After many rounds of interviews, I finally got in, and it was only after joining the institute that I met Josep."
"So you applied to the Institute of Medical Pioneers on your own? Josep didn't reach out to you?"
"Alaric, what's with you today? What kind of questions are these?" Stellan found his questions quite amusing.
Stellan continued, "I was just a nobody when I first arrived in Country M, and Josep was already a renowned doctor in the medical field. How could he have known me? I was selected after many rounds of interviews, and it was only after joining the institute that I met Josep."
"Then why did you decide to go to Country M?"
"I was already considered dead, so I couldn't stay in the country. Country M had more opportunities, so I decided to give it a try."
"How long has Josep been the director of the Institute of Medical Pioneers?"
"At least ten years, I think," Stellan replied. "Josep is the youngest director in the history of the Institute of Medical Pioneers and has served the longest. He's very impressive, one of the top doctors in our medical field."
Josep had been the director of the Institute of Medical Pioneers for at least ten years. Stellan's decision to go to Country M and apply to the institute was her own.
So there was no way Josep could have manipulated her, and Josep had been working in Country M ever since graduating from medical school, never in Country A.
There really couldn't be any connection with Brennan, so it didn't make sense.
So was his logic wrong again? Was it not Josep?
"Alaric!"
"What?"
"Red light!"
Alaric snapped back to reality and quickly hit the brakes, stopping the car.
"Focus on driving! How could you get distracted? What were you thinking about?" Stellan shouted nervously.
Alaric really wanted to slap himself. His pregnant wife was sitting in the passenger seat, and he got distracted while driving. How irresponsible!
He decided to stop thinking about it and focus on driving properly.
A few days passed peacefully, and Alaric and Stellan were still busy every day.
With the success of the Storm Group's private hospital, Alaric was really planning to build a second hospital for Stellan. After all, Stellan was going to be the director of a chain of private hospitals.
These days, besides working out and reading, Gillian was also looking at various real estate listings in Arizona online because Tommy said they needed to move, so she had to find a place quickly.
But it seems like they don't have enough money to buy a house...
She had Tommy's salary card and knew exactly how much was on it. As for herself, although Thomas had left her a decent amount before he left, it was nowhere near enough to buy a house.
After thinking it over, Gillian decided to call Thomas.
"Seeing your call is a real surprise. I thought you had forgotten all about your old man." Thomas was surprised.
Since Thomas left Arizona, Gillian hadn't called him once, and Thomas didn't want to call her either, as she would just talk about how great Tommy was.
"Dad, don't say that. You'll always be my dearest dad. How could I forget you?"
"Cut the sweet talk. Do you need money again? How much?"
"Dad, you really are the best. How do you always know everything?"
"Cut the talk and tell me how much you need."
"This time, it might be a bit much," Gillian spoke gradually. "It's like this, Dad. You've been to the place where Tommy and I live. It's just one small bedroom. We need to move sooner or later, so why not do it now? If the house prices go up later, we'll be worse off, right?"
"You want to buy a house?"
"Yes, Dad, could you help us out with some money? After all, I'm your only daughter, and your money will be mine eventually."
Thomas had thought about this issue carefully in the past few days and replied, "I can give you money for a house and a car, no problem."
"Really? Then hurry up and send the money!"
"I haven't finished," Thomas added. "I can buy a house and a car for you, but not in Arizona, in our area."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean you should come back. If you insist on being with Tommy, bring him along. I'll contact the local police department and get his job transferred here. I can make it happen."
Bring Tommy back with her?
"No way, absolutely not!" Gillian refused. "If Tommy comes back with me and you buy us a house and a car, wouldn't he basically be living with us as a son-in-law? That's not acceptable!"
