Chapter 526: Are You Still Sane?
Alaric didn't even want to mention Gillian now. She had only met Tommy a few times and was already determined to move into his house. He really didn't know what to say.
Gillian spent the whole day at Tommy's house today without going out. There were so many fitness equipment at home that she couldn't help but be curious and try them out. Then she read a book for a while, and the day just passed by.
Looking at the time, it was almost seven o'clock. Guessing that Tommy probably won't come over today, she was really hungry, so she couldn't help but order some takeout.
The takeout arrived, but Tommy still hadn't come back. She was feeling a bit disappointed, and just as she was about to open the takeout to eat, she heard some noise at the entrance.
Seeing Tommy come in, Gillian was really happy.
"I thought you weren't coming over tonight."
"I was planning not to, but when I called you, your phone was off. I figured it might have been damaged by the rain yesterday."
Tommy then handed a new phone to her. "Here, use this for now. If we can't reach you, Mr. Emberlyn would be worried."
Gillian took the new phone, opened it, and asked in surprise, "Did you buy this for me?"
"I didn't know what you liked, so I just picked one. Use it for now."
Gillian was really surprised to see the new phone. Her phone was indeed broken, but she hadn't told him. She didn't expect him to have already bought her a new one.
"I really like it. You have great taste." Gillian looked at the phone, liking it more and more.
Tommy then noticed the takeout on the table, saying, "Takeout is really unhealthy. You should eat less of it."
"I know, but I was really hungry, but I can't cook..."
Tommy spoke with a helpless smile, "I'll cook. Don't eat the takeout. I'll be quick."
Tommy went into the kitchen, while Gillian stood at the kitchen door, admiring him.
Men are indeed the most handsome when they're cooking. Watching Tommy's skillful movements was really charming, and soon the aroma of the food filled the air.
"Come eat." Tommy brought the dishes to the dining table.
"Aren't you eating?"
"I've already eaten."
"Then I'll eat. I'm really hungry."
"Okay, take your time." Tommy uttered, "I'll be in the study working. Call me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Gillian eagerly started eating as she watched Tommy go into the study.
Maybe she was too hungry, so the food he made tasted incredibly delicious, even better than what a Michelin chef could make.
After finishing her meal, Gillian tiptoed to the study. She was really quiet, but as soon as she reached the door, Tommy turned to look at her and voiced, "Finished eating?"
"I was so quiet, but you still heard me?"
"Occupational habit."
"That's impressive." Gillian asked, "Can I come in?"
"Sure."
When Gillian walked in, Tommy closed his work notebook, then spoke, "Did you read today? Any questions?"
"Yes, I noted them down."
Gillian quickly took out her book and showed Tommy the questions she had noted down. Tommy then started explaining them to her.
During the explanation, Gillian initially listened, but soon she was just staring at Tommy's face.
"Did you understand that?" Tommy questioned after finishing.
"No, I still don't quite get it."
"Okay, let me explain it another way." Tommy picked up a pen and started calculating on a notebook while explaining.
After he finished, Gillian still hadn't really listened but noticed something else.
"I noticed your handwriting is really beautiful." Gillian was really admiring him. "Tommy, how are you so talented?"
"It's just practice. Nothing worth praising." Tommy asked again, "Still don't understand the question?"
"No, I don't."
Gilllian slowly responded after Tommy explained it once more, "I still don't quite get it. I'll think about it more."
"Okay, take your time." Tommy looked at the time and remarked, "It's getting late. You should go to bed. I'm leaving."
"It's so late, where are you going?"
"Back to the police station dormitory." Tommy replied, "You go to bed early. Good night."
After saying that, Tommy left, and Gillian had to swallow back the words she wanted to say.
Watching him leave, Gillian pouted in disappointment, "He really left? Just left the house to me?"
Gillian took a shower and then lay on the bed. Suddenly, she thought of something, jumped up, and went to the study to get the notebook Tommy had written in.
"How can someone's handwriting be so beautiful?"
Looking at the handwriting, Gillian smiled sweetly and then hugged the notebook to her chest, closing her eyes.
The next day, she woke up naturally. Not long after waking up, she heard the doorbell ring.
Standing outside was a delivery person. "Ms. Emberlyn? This is breakfast from Mr. Reaves."
'Breakfast? He made it himself and had the delivery person bring it? So thoughtful?' Gillian thought to herself.
Gillian quickly took the breakfast inside and felt really satisfied after eating. Thinking about it, she suddenly remembered something and quickly ran out the door.
Gillian took a cab to Nexus Innovations and ran into Cormac as soon as she reached the top floor.
"Cormac, where's Alaric? Is he in the office?"
"You're just in time. If you were half an hour later, he wouldn't be here."
Alaric had come in today to finish some work that hadn't been completed.
"That's good. I have something urgent to discuss with him. I'll cut in line." Gillian ran into his office.
Cormac was curious. Since there were no secrets between Gillian and Alaric, he decided to listen in.
Alaric didn't expect Gillian to come looking for him so early.
"What do you need so early? Not staying at Tommy's place?" Alaric asked.
"No, did you call my dad yesterday? Did he reply?"
"No."
Hearing this, Gillian let out a big sigh of relief and then pleaded, "Alaric, for the sake of our long friendship, please don't tell my dad that I'm staying at Tommy's place. I'm begging you."
"What are you planning by hiding it from Mr. Emberlyn?" Alaric saw that Gillian was really worried. "Don't tell me you've fallen for Tommy and want to stay at his place?"
Gillian didn't say anything. Seeing her reaction, Alaric got it
"Gillian, are you lonely or in need of love? How can you fall for someone so easily?" Alaric was really furious. "You've only known Tommy for a few days. Are you thinking clearly?"
