Chapter 522: Gillian's Special Physique

Actually, Alaric didn't delay for long. Gillian had only been out for five minutes when he chased after her, but in that short time, Gillian had already gotten into Tommy's car.

"For this issue, it's because of work arrangements. Generally, crimes like home burglaries increase on rainy days, and there aren't enough patrol officers, so I was called in for reinforcement. The area I was responsible for happened to be near The Knight Mansion.

After all, I wouldn't have known you two would have an argument tonight, nor that Ms. Emberlyn would run away from home. I don't have the ability to foresee the future. I've explained so much, Mr. Knight, if you still think this coincidence was intentional on my part, then I have nothing more to say."

Tommy's explanations were always logical and well-founded, just like before when he did so many things that caused misunderstandings, followed Ambrose, and aided and abetted for so long.

Alaric thought that when Ambrose was caught, Tommy would also face legal consequences, but Tommy managed to explain everything away perfectly, just like now. Alaric couldn't find a single flaw in his explanation.

"I don't care if it was intentional or a coincidence, I'm taking Gillian with me now. Please step aside!" Alaric claimed sternly.

"If she agrees to go with you, of course, I'll let her. But right now, she doesn't agree."

As soon as Tommy finished speaking, Gillian firmly said, "I'm not going!"

"Gillian, I'm doing this for your own good. This is not the time to be stubborn." Alaric reminded her again.

"I'm not being stubborn. You never welcomed me, and you two are so happy together. Why should I interfere? I'm never going back," Gillian replied resolutely. "You should go. I need to rest."

Gillian's attitude was firm, and Tommy stepped aside, making his intentions clear.

Looking at Gillian and then at Tommy, Alaric let out a frustrated and helpless cold laugh, "OK, I'm leaving. Gillian, if you regret this later, don't say I didn't warn you."

With that, Alaric stepped out, got into his car, and slammed the steering wheel before looking up at Tommy's house.

Sure enough, whenever Alaric encountered Tommy, he would suffer setbacks!

Alaric was really worried about Gillian staying at Tommy's  home overnight. If something happened to her, he wouldn't be able to explain it to Thomas. He took out his phone to call Thomas but quickly dismissed the idea.

It was very late, and Thomas was probably already asleep. Besides, he wasn't in Arizona, and calling him would only make Thomas worry. Frustrated, Alaric tossed the phone aside, glanced at Tommy's house again, and sighed helplessly before driving away.

After Alaric left, the atmosphere calmed down. Gillian looked at Tommy, feeling a bit apologetic. "I'm sorry, did I cause you trouble?"

After all, her actions had made Alaric even more hostile towards Tommy.

"It's nothing. I should say I caused you trouble," Tommy explained. "Because of my previous missions, I did some things that made Mr. Knight misunderstand, so he got so angry when you stayed at my home."

"Forget it. It's already like this. I don't want to stay at The Knight Mansion anymore. I can't stand watching them being so lovey-dovey every day."

"Then stay here for now," Tommy questioned, looking at her hand. "Is your hand okay?"

Gillian opened her hand, revealing tiny cuts from glass shards. She answered, "It's just some glass shards, nothing serious. But I'm not exaggerating; I have a congenital low pain threshold, so my pain nerves are very sensitive. The same injury that others might find slightly painful is unbearable for me."

A congenital low pain threshold?

"Then you need to take good care of yourself and avoid getting hurt," Tommy spoke.

"Okay, that's why my dad didn't let me join the military. He was afraid I'd get hurt, so I'll just continue my studies," Gillian explained.

"Then continue pursuing your PhD. I'm in the same field, so I can help you with anything you don't understand."

"Great, I unexpectedly found myself a free tutor. Not bad."

Today, by chance, she ended up at Tommy's house and saw all his fitness equipment and books. She admitted she really admired Tommy.

"It's late. Get some sleep," Tommy voiced gently. "Good night."

"Good night."

Gillian returned to the bedroom and quickly fell asleep, feeling very tired.

After Alaric drove away, Stellan was very worried, especially since the rain was getting heavier. She was really concerned something might happen.

Finally, she saw the headlights of a car driving into the yard and quickly grabbed an umbrella to go out.

Seeing her come out, Alaric quickly got out of the car and took the umbrella from her. Since he was soaked, he made sure not to touch Stellan.

"It's raining so hard and it's so cold. Why did you come out? Go back inside." Alaric cooed Stellan.

They went into the hall, and seeing that Alaric had returned alone, Stellan quickly asked, "Where's Gillian? Didn't you find her?"

"I found her. She's at Tommy's house and won't come back with me."

"Tommy?" Stellan was surprised. "How did she end up at Tommy's house?"

"Tommy said he was patrolling nearby and happened to encounter Gillian running away from home." After explaining, Alaric carefully took Stellan's hand and uttered, "How is it? Still hurt?"

"Not much. It'll be fine in a few days, don't worry." Stellan looked at his soaked state and quickly tried to help him take off his clothes. "Look at you, you're all wet."

"Your hand is burned, don't move. I'll do it myself." Alaric held her hand and took off his shirt. "Stellan, you should go back to the room for rest. I'll take a shower."

"Okay." Stellan nodded and watched him go into the bathroom.

Stellan looked at the rain outside, pouring down with thunder and lightning. It was really scary.

Stellan went back to the bedroom and lay down. After a while, Alaric came in, got into bed, and held her close.

"Gillian has been spoiled since she was a child, always being taken care of by others. Everyone has always indulged her, and now she can't take care of herself." Alaric sighed.

"It's my fault. I shouldn't have asked her to get me water. I didn't expect..." Stellan answered.

"It's not your fault. She just doesn't know how to take care of herself, let alone others."

"She's Mr. Emberlyn's daughter. It's normal for her to have a privileged life."

"Not entirely," Alaric explained. "It's because of some incidents she experienced as a child."

"Incidents as a child?"
