Chapter 636 Give Me Your Phone
When Ryder asked, Aurora quickly covered the bruises on her arm and said, "Oh, I just bumped into something."
She was already in college, but she was still getting bullied. She felt so embarrassed that she didn't want Ryder to ask any more questions. Quickly changing the subject, she said, "Hold on, I'll whip up something for you."
Aurora put down her backpack and hurried into the kitchen. Ryder glanced towards the kitchen and noticed how she was dressed.
At her age, she should be into fashion, dressing up nicely on weekends, but she still looked so simple.
Was she short on money?
Why would a college student be so short on money?
Aurora was quite skilled at cooking and soon had the meal ready, serving it to him at the table.
"Isn't Dr. Ryan supposed to be here to treat Mr. Rivers? Why is she cooking?" Eva asked.
"Shouldn't you be asking yourself that?" Ryder replied in a reproachful tone. "Your cooking is so bad I can't eat it. Aurora's cooking is decent. I don't trust a medical student who hasn't graduated yet to treat me, but she can at least cook."
Ryder had instructed her not to tell anyone, not even Eva, about treating him, so Aurora played along.
"Yeah, I need the money anyway. Whether it's being a doctor or a cook, it's all the same to me," Aurora said.
"Thank you, Dr. Ryan," Eva said before heading upstairs to clean the study.
Once Eva was upstairs, Aurora lowered her voice and said to Ryder, "Mr. Rivers, you asked me to find modern medication for treating bipolar disorder. I know which two drugs to use, but they are prescription-only. Without a hospital diagnosis, I can't get them. If it's herbal medicine, I can buy the ingredients from different pharmacies and put them together."
"No herbal medicine," Ryder said. He had mentioned before that the smell of herbal medicine was too strong and would alert Eva.
"Send me the names of those two drugs, and I'll handle it myself," Ryder said.
"Okay," Aurora replied. "I'll write them down for you."
"Write them down? That's so old-fashioned."
"Give me your phone."
"What? Give you my phone?"
"Hurry up."
"Okay," Aurora said, handing her phone to him. Ryder noticed that while the phone was quite expensive for a student, its screen was badly cracked.
Someone who could afford such a phone shouldn't have trouble fixing the screen or getting a new one.
"I just dropped it today," Aurora quickly explained.
Ryder didn't say anything more. He entered his phone number and called his phone. Once it connected, he hung up.
"This is my number. Memorize it, don't save it," Ryder said, handing her phone back. "I'll call you if I need anything."
"Got it," Aurora said, handing her phone to him.
He entered his phone number and called his own phone. Once it connected, he hung up.
"This is my number. Memorize it, don't save it," Ryder said, handing her phone back. "I'll call you if I need anything."
"Got it," Aurora replied, memorizing the number.
She then sent him the names of the two drugs. Since the names of modern medications are usually long and complicated, writing them down made it clearer.
"Alright, Mr. Rivers, please eat. I'll be going now. Call me if you need anything."
Aurora picked up her backpack. She had been doing this for days: coming over to cook for him and then leaving, no matter how late it was.
"I have plenty of rooms here. You can stay," Ryder said coldly.
"No, thank you," Aurora replied politely. "I'm still a student. I can't stay at a stranger's house. Goodbye, Mr. Rivers."
Aurora called out to Eva on the second floor and then left.
After she left, Ryder looked at the names of the drugs she had sent him, memorized them, and then deleted the message.
Aurora returned to her basement room. She wanted to study but couldn't focus. She had decided to talk to the principal the next day, unsure of what the outcome would be.
Would it end her bullying, or would it make things worse because she reported it? She didn't know, but she had to try.
The next morning, she waited outside the principal's office, missing her first class. When she finally saw Principal Maurice Robbins, her heart raced with nerves.
Cormac had brought her to the school, and she had been admitted as the top SAT scorer and was the first to secure a spot for graduate school. Naturally, she was a student of interest to the teachers and the principal.
"Aurora, what brings you here so early?" Principal Robbins asked.
"Mr. Robbins, I've been bullied at school. They're deliberately excluding and bullying me. Can I report this to you?"
Just as she finished speaking, a student came in to deliver some documents to Principal Robbins and overheard her. The student quickly ran out.
"Aurora is reporting to the principal!"
Kelly, a popular student with many admirers, heard the news.
"That bitch can't handle it and went to the principal!" Jade cursed angrily, then asked Kelly, "What do we do? The principal will definitely side with her."
"Don't worry. We didn't actually hit her, and she has no evidence. If the principal asks, we'll say it was just a joke between classmates. We can pretend to apologize and lay low for a few days," Kelly said.
"Okay," Jade agreed, then muttered angrily, "Bitch, I'll get her later!"
Aurora told Principal Robbins everything. He was shocked.
"Is this really happening?"
"I swear I'm telling the truth!" Aurora was so nervous that she looked like she was about to swear an oath.
"I understand. Go to class. I'll investigate this thoroughly. If it's true, rest assured, I'll handle it. We are a prestigious school; we can't allow bullying."
"Thank you, Mr. Robbins," Aurora said, feeling relieved. "Please don't tell my uncle. If he asks about me, just say everything is fine. Please."
"Alright," Principal Robbins agreed.
"Thank you, Mr. Robbins. I'll go to class now," Aurora said and quickly left.
Back in class, Aurora felt a wave of fear whenever she saw Kelly and Jade, instinctively wanting to stay far away from them.
