Chapter 563: Stellan Officially Became the Dean
Josep's speech had ended, and he was taken to the lounge to rest. Gillian then pulled Tommy around the hospital for a tour.
"This hospital is really impressive. Alaric built it specifically for Stellan. Isn't this like those big male leads in romance novels who spend a fortune for love? So cool!"
"Yes, men like Mr. Knight, who are both wealthy and devoted, are indeed rare."
Tommy's words suddenly made Gillian realize something, and she hurriedly explained, "Tommy, I didn't mean it that way. I'm not envious of Alaric. My Tommy is going to be a director in the future. Alaric is just a businessman; your vision and dimension are completely different."
Hearing Gillian's anxious explanation, Tommy couldn't help but smile and replied, "Don't worry, I'm not that sensitive. I agree with what you said."
Just as Tommy finished speaking, his phone rang. It was a call from the police station, and as expected, he had to go to work again.
"Gillian, I have work to do. I need to leave."
Gillian felt disappointed when she heard he had to go. "Weren't you supposed to rest today? Why do you have to leave again?"
"When there's a case, I have to go," Tommy cooed gently. "You have fun here. If I leave now, I definitely won't be back tonight. When you get home, go to bed early."
Gillian hugged Tommy and spoke with concern, "Is the crime rate in Arizona that bad? Why are there so many cases every day? You can't even rest on your day off. It's so hard for you."
"I'm not tired. Be good, I have to go now." Tommy kissed Gillian on the lips and then hurriedly left.
Watching Tommy leave, Gillian instantly lost all her enthusiasm. With Tommy gone, there was nothing fun to do, so she went home alone.
When she got home, Vivienne was cleaning. Seeing her return, Vivienne was surprised, "Ms. Emberlyn, weren't you attending an event today? Why are you back so early?"
"Tommy was called away for work, and I didn't feel like staying there alone," Gillian explained. "Vivienne, take your time cleaning. I'm going to sleep."
Since she wasn't in the mood to read, she decided to sleep. She had just fallen asleep when Vivienne woke her up.
"Ms. Emberlyn, you have a phone call."
Gillian took the phone and was about to answer it when she realized it was already answered. Did Vivienne answer it for her?
"Hello, Uncle Josep." The call was from Josep.
"Gillian, the lunch has started. Why haven't I seen you and Tommy? I called him, but he didn't answer."
"He was called away by the station, and I didn't feel like staying there alone, so I came home," Gillian explained. "Enjoy yourself. I won't be coming."
"Alright, but don't forget to eat."
"I know, Uncle Josep."
After hanging up, Gillian looked at Vivienne and asked, "Vivienne, did you answer my phone?"
"Yes, your phone kept ringing, and I couldn't wake you, so I answered it."
"In the future, wait until I wake up to answer my phone. Don't answer it."
Although she didn't have much privacy, it was still her personal phone, not a landline, and Vivienne was just a housekeeper. Answering her phone made her a bit unhappy.
"Alright, Ms. Emberlyn, don't be mad. I won't do it again."
"Okay, finish cleaning and then make dinner. After that, you can leave. You don't need to come back tonight."
With Tommy not home, she didn't have much appetite for dinner, so she might as well skip it to lose weight.
"Yes, Ms. Emberlyn." Vivienne responded and then left the bedroom. As she was about to close the door, she saw Gillian place her phone by the pillow and go back to sleep.
VitalityCare Medical Center had officially started operations. As one of the few garden-style top private hospitals in the country, it was naturally very popular. Plus, as Stellan had mentioned before, the medical costs and reimbursement rates were the same as public hospitals.
With the same prices, better facilities, and a better environment, patients naturally preferred this hospital. After just one month of operation, all the wards in various departments were full.
Moreover, due to his relationship with Stellan, Josep would come to this hospital for consultations on the 18th of every month. As a renowned doctor in the medical field, it was difficult to get an appointment with him even a month in advance.
On the 18th of another month, Josep was consulting, and the waiting area was already full of patients.
Stellan and Rowena, who had just finished a prenatal check-up, happened to pass by. Seeing the crowd, Rowena couldn't help but say, "There are so many people. Since the hospital started operating, I've seen countless media reports. It looks like you need to discuss with Mr. Knight about building a second one."
"I didn't expect this either, but a hospital is not like other places. Good business isn't necessarily a good thing."
"That's true, but everyone gets sick. Who can go their whole life without visiting a hospital?"
"That's right," Stellan said to Rowena. "Rowena, I've already spoken to the maternity department. You can come for a prenatal check-up anytime without an appointment. I've also arranged for one of the top doctors in the country to be your delivery doctor. There will be no problems."
"No wonder they say even the wealthiest people need a doctor friend. I've hit the jackpot with you as my friend, the hospital director. I've gained so many benefits."
"I'm just helping you get an appointment. It's nothing much."
"It's not just an appointment. I've gained a lot." Rowena quickly asked, "How was your prenatal check-up? Did you do the 4D ultrasound? Let me see."
In the last two prenatal check-ups, Stellan's baby was doing fine. Today, she had a 4D ultrasound and could clearly see the baby. She couldn't help but cry when she saw it.
"Mr. Knight must be thrilled to see it."
Rowena came for a prenatal check-up today, and Stellan accompanied her without telling Alaric. He would definitely be excited to see it too.
"Come over for dinner tonight? It's been a while since we all had dinner together." Stellan invited her.
"Sure, it's been a while. Once we have the baby, we won't have many chances to gather."
"Exactly." After having a baby, freedom is limited for at least three years. Stellan thought of Gillian and asked, "Let's invite Gillian and Tommy too?"
"Of course." Rowena agreed.
When Gillian's phone rang, Tommy was teaching her some fitness exercises. Hearing the phone, she paused.
"Hello, Stellan."
"What are you doing? Why are you out of breath?"
"Working out. What's up, Stellan?"
"Come over for dinner tonight with Tommy. Cormac and his family are coming too."
Dinner with Tommy? Gillian didn't mind, but would Tommy agree?
