Chapter 588 Will I Be Able to Have Children in the Future?

"It's all in the past, and it wasn't your fault," Josep said. "I only found out later that he was an undercover cop. I was used by him too. When he asked for my help, I thought he was just desperate and couldn't find a job. Later, I found out he was a top student, which surprised me. I thought, how could a PhD student struggle to find work? But when I learned he was an undercover cop, it made sense. His goal was to get into Nexus Innovations and then get close to the Vale family. I was angry when I realized I was used, but he kept explaining that he had no choice. I let it go because he was on a mission, and as an elder, I couldn't hold a grudge against him."

"Josep, you're really generous."

"What else could I do? Distant relatives are still relatives. I just feel that he has grown up from a poor little kid to someone capable, successfully completing his undercover police tasks, and now he’s been promoted to deputy captain so quickly. I’m happy for him," Josep said with a proud smile.

Alaric watched Josep. If what Josep said was true, he didn't have the heart to tell him the truth about Tommy. If it was false, he didn't want to imagine the consequences.

"Josep, I don't want to tell you this, but you need to know the truth. Tommy didn't go on a business trip; he turned himself in and got arrested."

"What?" Josep was shocked. "What do you mean? Turned himself in? Isn't Tommy a cop? Why would he turn himself in?"

Alaric observed Josep's reaction, which was a mix of shock and disbelief.

"It's a long story, and it's hard to believe, but it's true."

Alaric explained everything about Tommy, including all the crimes Tommy confessed to.

Josep was stunned for several seconds, founding no words to speak.

"What are you saying? Tommy is the leader of a terrorist organization?" Josep repeatedly denied it. "That's impossible. There must be a mistake. He's only twenty-five or twenty-six. How could he have such capabilities? This can't be true. You must be mistaken. You can't wrong him!"

Alaric replied, "No one is wronging him. He confessed to everything. The leader of the terrorist organization, codenamed Tiger, is him. He admitted it."

"He admitted it?" Josep shook his head. "That's impossible. Although I haven't known Tommy for long, with my years of experience, Tommy is definitely not a bad kid. He must have his reasons for saying that. He wouldn't do bad things. You need to investigate further. Don't wrong an innocent person. Was he coerced? Was he threatened?"

Seeing Josep's agitation, Alaric asked, "Josep, do you really think he can't be Tiger?"

"Yes, I believe he can't be Tiger!"

"I think so too, but he confessed. If we can't find the real Tiger, he'll be sentenced to death. He's so young and capable. If he was forced to confess, it would be a waste for him to die."

"Yes, we can't let him die. He's too young and a good kid. He can't be a heinous criminal."

"The key is that he confessed. If they can't catch the real Tiger, he will be dead," Alaric said, looking at Josep. "Since you don't want him to die, think carefully about who else is around him. Are there any people who are particularly good to him?"

"He doesn't have many people around him. He came to me, and I introduced him to you. You know better than I do what happened afterward. He really doesn't have many people left; I just can’t remember who else he had around him," Josep replied.

"The problem is he confessed. If we can't find the real Tiger, he will die. Unless..."

Alaric paused deliberately, saying, "Unless the real Tiger has a change of heart and turns himself in to save him."

Josep still looked incredulous. "How did this happen so suddenly? Tommy..."

"Alright, Josep, you've done a lot today and must be tired. Go home and rest. Think it over. We're all trying to save Tommy. If you think of anything, let me know immediately."

"Okay, I'll think about it. I'll think hard." Josep nodded.

"Alright, let me take you home."

Alaric drove Josep home. Josep was in a state of shock the entire way, muttering that it was impossible.

After dropping Josep off, Alaric left.

If they couldn't find evidence to catch the real Tiger, they could only hope he would have a change of heart.

Since Tommy was willing to die for him, it showed their relationship was extraordinary, like father and son.

No father would let his son die for him. He would either find a way to save Tommy or turn himself in.

With Tommy in police custody, heavily guarded, rescuing him was impossible. So, it had to be the latter if he didn't want Tommy to die.

If that person was Josep, Alaric didn't need to keep a close watch. He would give Josep space and see what he did next.

Leaving Tommy's neighborhood, Alaric drove to the hospital. Stellan and Rowena had finished their classes.

When Alaric returned to the hospital, Stellan was in Gillian's room, talking to her. Alaric didn't want to interrupt.

"Stellan, you're a doctor. You're so skilled and knowledgeable. Tell me honestly, will the burns and the medication I'm taking affect my ability to have children in the future?" Gillian asked, worried after seeing Stellan's pregnant belly.

"You're still recovering from your burns, and you're already thinking about having children?"

"I'm just asking in advance. Stellan, be honest with me. Don't lie."

"It's hard to say now. You need to take your medication and come for regular check-ups. If you recover well, you can stop the medication, wait a while, and then get checked again. If everything's fine, you can get pregnant. But if you don't recover well and need to keep taking medication, it will affect your body. Regardless, you shouldn't be thinking about pregnancy now. At least for the next three years, focus on getting better."

"Even if I recover quickly, I can't think about pregnancy for three years?" Gillian was disappointed. "By then, you'll have had your fourth child, and I won't even have my first!"

"You're only twenty-three. You're still young. Why rush to have children?"

"But seeing Caspian, Harry, and Elisa, and now your fourth on the way, I'm envious." Gillian said, daydreaming. "Tommy is so patient. He'll be the best dad in the world."

"Yes," Stellan nodded, not wanting to argue as Gillian praised Tommy.

Gillian then remembered what Alaric had told her and asked Stellan indirectly, "Stellan, has Alaric mentioned anything about Tommy recently?"
