Chapter 527: Are You Crazy or Am I?
Was Gillian out of her mind? Maybe. She wanted to think clearly, but it was Tommy, a totally perfect guy.
"Alaric, I admit I was a bit immature before, and I even had a bit of a crush on you."
Gillian explained seriously, "Because I thought you were the perfect man, and Stellan didn't know how to cherish you. I thought she didn't deserve you. But later I realized I was wrong. You two are really in love, and the most important thing is that I met Tommy. He completely exceeded my standards for a perfect man. I used to think you were the best, but after meeting him, I realized my perspective was too limited."
He thought to himself, 'what does that mean? Is she saying he's not as good as Tommy?'
"And I finally understand why you dislike him so much, because you're jealous of him."
Hearing this, Alaric was frustrated, and even Cormac, who was outside the office, couldn't help but laugh.
"Jealous of him?" Alaric was incredulous. "Gillian, are you crazy or am I?"
"Exactly, because he's better than you." Gillian explained earnestly, her eyes sparkling with admiration. "He's got a PhD in finance, and you don't, right? He's got tons of certificates, and you don't. You have no idea how amazing he is. He can do everything, and he's tall and handsome. What girl wouldn't fall for him? Especially his handwriting, it's so beautiful. I even took pictures. Let me show you."
Gillian eagerly opened her phone's photo album to show him Tommy's handwriting, completely unaware that Alaric's face had turned dark.
"Look, isn't it beautiful?"
"I don't want to see it!" Alaric snapped coldly. "Shut up and get out!"
Seeing Alaric's attitude, Gillian reluctantly put her phone away and complained, "See, I know you're jealous of him. Just look at how mad you get whenever I praise him. And you know what? You always talk bad about him in front of me, but he never says anything bad about you. He even sticks up for you. That really shows who's the better person."
"I told you to shut up and get out!" Alaric was so pissed. He'd never met anyone this stupid in his entire life!
"Fine, I'll leave, but please don't tell my dad, okay?"
"Get out!"
Gillian had no choice but to leave the office. She saw Cormac at the door and greeted him before getting into the elevator.
Watching her enter the elevator, Cormac walked into Alaric's office, unable to hold back his laughter.
"If you laugh again, you can get out too!"
"Rare sight, Mr. Knight. As the president of Nexus Innovations, how did you get humiliated like this? Jealous of Tommy and having poor character."
"Get out!" Alaric shouted angrily.
Cormac was particularly gleeful and asked, "If I leave, who will take over your work? Don't you want to go home and be with Stellan? I think you're the one who's not clear-headed from anger."
Alaric admitted he was really pissed off just now.
"But you said Tommy is your rival. I'm starting to believe it. Maybe it's some kind of weird fate, huh?"
As soon as Cormac finished speaking and saw Alaric's look, he immediately got scared. "Okay, I'll shut up now, Mr. Knight. Just tell me what to do, I'm listening."
Thanks to Gillian, Alaric was in no mood to work. He didn't expect that in just a few days, Gillian could fall for Tommy.
He didn't even dare to think about what would happen if Tommy turned out to be a double agent.
In the following days, Gillian stayed at Tommy's house. Just as Tommy said, besides working overtime, he had a regular routine, working out and studying every day.
In just a few days, Gillian experienced the kind of pampering Stellan felt. In the morning, Tommy would have breakfast delivered to her, and if he wasn't busy at noon, he would do the same. If he was busy, she occasionally ate takeout, but he always came back in the afternoon.
He cooked for her, taught her to work out, and read with her. The moment she looked forward to the most was when Tommy came back from work in the afternoon.
Every time he was about to come back, Gillian couldn't focus on anything else. It was the same this day, but it was already past seven and he still hadn't returned.
After waiting another half hour, just as she was about to call him, Tommy's call came in.
"Tommy, I was just about to call you. Why aren't you back yet?"
"I have work today, I won't be coming back."
Hearing this, Gillian asked with disappointment, "Are you working all night, or are you at the dorm now?"
"I'm still out, I'll go straight to the dorm later. You should rest early and don't forget to eat." Tommy advised, "Alright, I have to get back to work."
After Tommy hung up, Gillian felt inexplicably anxious. Was he on a mission?
After hesitating for a while, Gillian decided to go out. She found out where Tommy's dorm was and waited at the door. After about an hour, he finally came back.
Just as she thought, he had been on a mission and was injured, with his right arm bandaged.
"Gillian? What are you doing here?"
Seeing Gillian, Tommy was surprised. He had actually been at the hospital getting bandaged when he called her, and he wasn't going back tonight because he was injured.
"After your call, I felt uneasy and came over. Turns out I was right, you're hurt!"
"It's nothing, just a small injury."
"How did it happen?"
"While catching a criminal tonight, I got cut by his knife. It's nothing." Tommy replied lightly.
"Bandaged like that, it must be serious. It must hurt a lot, right?"
Hearing this, Tommy couldn't help but smile, "You have a sensitive pain threshold. I'm probably the opposite; my pain threshold is very high, so it doesn't hurt much."
After saying this, Tommy quickly changed the subject and asked, "Have you eaten?"
"No."
Tommy smiled helplessly and uttered, "If I don't cook, you won't eat? Let me go back and cook for you."
"No need, you probably haven't eaten either. Let me treat you to dinner."
Dinner out?
Tommy clearly didn't want to.
"One meal out won't be that unhealthy." Gillian exhorted, pulling Tommy's uninjured hand. Tommy was visibly taken aback by the gesture.
