Chapter 609 The Day Alaric Apologized

Josep had been held captive by Joe for over two days, during which he barely ate or drank. Given his age, this ordeal had left him severely dehydrated.

After being brought to the hospital for several days of treatment, Josep finally felt a bit better today. But just as he started to feel some relief, Alaric and Neil walked in.

He had learned after being rescued that during his two days of captivity, not only did no one try to save him, but they also treated him as a suspect, thinking he had fled to avoid punishment.

It was outrageous!

"Josep," Neil said, holding a bouquet and wearing a big smile. "Hope we're not disturbing your rest? I'm here on behalf of our police department..."

"Get out!"

The police had treated him like a suspect, and now they had the nerve to come and visit him?

"We just wanted to check on you. We'll leave right after."

"Josep, we are truly sorry," Alaric said, bowing deeply. "This incident caused you such severe harm, and we are sorry."

"I don't need anyone's apology, and I won't accept any apology. Now, please leave!"

"Alright, we'll leave right away," Neil said quickly, carefully placing the flowers on the table. "I'll just leave these here for you, and we'll..."

"Take your flowers and get out. I don't want to see you again." With that, Josep turned his back on them.

"Alright, we'll leave immediately," Neil said, taking the flowers back. "Please rest well and take care of yourself."

The two of them were thus driven out. Once outside, Neil sighed deeply and looked at Alaric.

"Alaric, I have to say, you handled this situation very poorly. And during the operation, you insisted on coming along and got injured. Because of this, I've been getting chewed out in every meeting, my boss docked three months of my pay, and I have to write a ten-thousand-word report."

"My fault, Neil. I'll make up for your lost pay. I'm sorry for dragging you into this."

"It's not about the money; it's about principles. You can't keep ignoring protocols and acting recklessly. You need to reflect on your actions."

"Yes," Alaric admitted, accepting the blame.

After Neil left, Alaric was about to return to the ward to take care of Stellan when he heard Cormac's gloating voice behind him.

"Got kicked out, didn't you? I saw that coming. If I were Josep, I'd chase you out with a machete."

"Can you stop gloating? You're so annoying!"

Alaric walked away quickly, with Cormac hurrying to catch up. "I came to find you for something. Gillian said she wants to wait here for Tommy. Mr. Emberlyn has already left Arizona City in a rage, and Gillian has been crying nonstop. I don't know what to do."

Thomas had left Arizona City in anger? Understandably, from a father's perspective, he must be furious.

So the two of them went to Gillian's room. When Alaric entered, Gillian immediately asked, "Alaric, have you seen Tommy? How is he?"

Cormac had mentioned earlier that she wanted to wait for Tommy here, and now, seeing how concerned and anxious she was, it was clear she was deeply in love.

"He works out regularly and is in great shape. Those injuries are nothing to worry about. He's fine," Alaric reassured her.

"That's good," Gillian said, then quickly asked, "Did he say anything else after you hung up?"

"Gillian, Mr. Emberlyn has left Arizona City because of you, and you haven't even called to check on him. All you think about is Tommy."

"I've already spoken to the house staff. They'll notify me when my dad gets home," Gillian murmured. "I know he's very angry. I'm too scared to call him right now. I'll wait a few days until he's calmed down."

Speaking of calls, Gillian picked up her phone and looked at the recent messages she had exchanged with the fake Tommy. Suddenly, a thought struck her.

"Tommy was arrested a while ago, wasn't he?"

"Yeah, he turned himself in."

"He's not allowed to have a phone in there, right?"

"Of course not."

"Then who has been messaging me all this time?" Gillian felt a chill run down her spine. "And sending me all those intimate messages."

"Him!" Alaric and Cormac pointed at each other simultaneously.

Seeing Cormac falsely accuse him, Alaric was furious. "Cormac!"

"Tommy gave you his phone. I never saw it. If it wasn't you sending those messages, who else could it be?" Cormac said, his face completely calm.

"Cormac, don't be so shameless," Alaric warned.

Cormac leaned in and whispered, "Alaric, I saved your life and your family's lives. I almost got stabbed to death for your wife and kids. Show some gratitude!"

"I was wrong."

Cormac had indeed saved his entire family. How could he not take responsibility?

"Even though I know it was a well-intentioned lie, my Tommy never said 'I love you' to me, but you pretended to be him and said it every day. It makes me sick just thinking about it," Gillian said.

"Yes!" Cormac quickly interjected. "I'll give him a good talking-to. Ms. Emberlyn, you rest up. I'll handle this."

Cormac dragged Alaric out, but Gillian called after them, "Wait, give me Tommy's phone first."

Alaric reluctantly handed over Tommy's phone while Cormac watched with amusement, knowing they were caught red-handed.

Gillian took the phone from Alaric and gave him a cold look. Alaric felt like he had swallowed a fly. How could he have sent all those intimate messages pretending to be Tommy?

Once they were out of her room, Alaric was about to complain, but Cormac spoke first. "Alaric, I saved your whole family. Taking responsibility for this is the least you can do. From now on, be more respectful when you talk to me, got it?"

Yes, without him, Stellan would be dead.

"Fine, my savior, I'll be respectful," Alaric said.

"That's more like it. Also, I have internal injuries that might not show up for a few days. I need to get checked out this afternoon. Make sure it's arranged."

"Yes," Alaric agreed.

After watching Cormac walk away, Alaric sighed deeply and muttered to himself, "What a day. If I'm not apologizing, I'm on my way to apologize."
