Chapter 583 Is This What You Have to Explain?
Tommy followed Alaric out of the hospital, remaining silent. He insisted on waiting until they got to the interrogation room at the police station before saying anything, and Alaric agreed with that.
Alaric didn't have the authority to question him anyway. If Tommy had done something wrong, it was the police's job to deal with it. Alaric had already called Neil.
Neil was floored when he heard the news. He kept asking, "Alaric, are you sure? Tommy's connected to that group? How can that be?"
Since Tommy joined the force, he'd been dedicated. That's how he quickly climbed to deputy captain. With his calm demeanor, none of the other officers suspected a thing. How did Alaric figure it out?
Neil was completely stumped. He couldn't wrap his head around it; it seemed too unreal.
Tommy got into Alaric's car and stayed quiet, staring out the window from the back seat.
Alaric couldn't guess what Tommy was thinking. But given Tommy's feelings for Gillian, he was sure there was a lot of regret.
Alaric felt a twinge of pity but didn't sympathize. If Tommy knew this would happen, why did it in the first place? Everyone had to pay for their mistakes, no exceptions.
Alaric drove straight to the police station. As they were parking, Tommy's phone rang. It was Gillian.
Seeing her name, Tommy gripped his phone tightly, hesitated for a moment, and then answered, "Hey, Gillian."
"I don't know how I fell asleep, but when I woke up, you were gone."
Gillian had woken up to find Tommy no longer by her bedside. She felt uneasy because, for the past month, he had always been there whenever she opened her eyes.
"Yeah, I'm not there. Take care of yourself. If you feel unwell, tell Stellan. She'll take good care of you," Tommy advised.
"I don't want anyone else to take care of me but you." Since they started dating, Gillian had relied on Tommy for everything. Especially during her hospital stay, her quick recovery was all thanks to his care.
"When are you coming back? You've been on leave for a long time, but it's not without reason. Your boss should understand, right?"
Tommy hesitated before slowly replying, "I'll try to get more leave. Just focus on getting better and don't overthink things, okay? I have to go now, Gillian."
"Be safe, Tommy," Gillian quickly added as he was about to hang up.
"Okay, I will." Tommy ended the call, knowing it might be the last time he spoke to her.
After getting out of the car, Tommy handed his phone to Alaric. "Take my phone. If I turn it off now, Gillian will worry. The password is her birthday."
Because on this phone, there weren't many contacts. Aside from a few work calls, Tommy hardly ever touched his phone. After he started dating Gillian, he changed the phone password to her birthday.
Alaric took the phone. Just then, Neil arrived.
"What's going on?" Neil still couldn't wrap his head around it. "Is this some kind of April Fool's joke? Are you two messing with me?"
April Fool's? A joke?
Alaric wished it were a joke, but the reality was undeniable.
Tommy willingly extended his hands to Neil, a gesture all too familiar to a cop. Neil instinctively stepped back.
"Wait, are you serious?" Neil asked in shock. "Tommy, are you really involved with Tiger?"
Neil had never imagined any connection between Tommy and Tiger. Seeing Tommy's silence, Neil turned to Alaric, who sighed and said, "He'll explain everything soon."
Neil was still confused, but with Alaric's words and Tommy's admission, he had no choice but to cuff Tommy.
As the cold metal touched his skin, Tommy couldn't help but smile slightly, relieved that he wouldn't have to do any more bad deeds.
Tommy knew exactly where the interrogation room was and walked in on his own. Neil watched him, then looked at Alaric, still in shock.
"Neil, can I sit in on this?" Alaric asked.
Neil was still dazed, replying, "You caught him. Forget the rules; join me in the interrogation. We've all been fooled."
Neil cursed, feeling like his years as a cop had been turned upside down. This was beyond anything he had ever imagined.
Tommy had always been the one interrogating suspects. Now, the roles had reversed—something he had imagined many times but never thought would happen so soon.
"Just tell us everything," Neil said once they were seated.
"Okay," Tommy agreed and began to confess. As he did, his assets were being investigated.
When Tommy finished, Alaric and Neil were stunned. Alaric couldn't believe what he was hearing. Was this some kind of joke?
"Tommy, do you know what you're saying?" Alaric was genuinely angry. After all this time, this was the result?
"I know exactly what I'm saying."
"You claim you're Tiger?"
"Yes." Tommy rolled up his sleeve, revealing a tiger tattoo on his arm. "This isn't just any tattoo. It's made with special ink that can be hidden with a solution. I always hide it in the summer, so you never saw it. Stuart wasn't lying; he did see it."
"A tattoo proves you're Tiger?" Alaric found it laughable. "Did you cause the Storm family's bankruptcy and my father-in-law's death?"
"Yes."
"Do you think anyone will believe such a lie?" Alaric questioned. "When the Storm Group went bankrupt, you were only seventeen. The organization led by Tiger existed long before that. Are you saying you started this at fourteen or even younger? Does that make any sense?"
"You all said I was a once-in-a-generation genius. Mr. Knight, you joined the military at eight, and your son at seven. A high-IQ ten-year-old can do a lot. Do you still think it's impossible, Mr. Knight?"
Tommy's determined gaze met Alaric's.
