Chapter 517: Alaric, why do you have so many conspiracy theories?

The birthday party went on until the early morning. Although Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were really excited, they were also tired by this point.

Since Cormac and Rowena were still living in the entertainment center, the three children being tired, were directly taken to Cormac's house to stay.

"Alaric, don't worry, I'll take good care of them." Aurora assured Alaric and Stellan.

"Aurora, thank you. You should also get some rest tonight," Stellan spoke affectionately, patting Aurora's head.

"Okay."

Alaric, Stellan, and Gillian left. After seeing them off, Aurora started to get busy.

She made the beds for Caspian, Harry, and Elisa, then brought water for Rowena and set out the prenatal vitamins.

"Aurora, it's very late. You have school tomorrow. You don't need to keep busy. Go to bed." Cormac softly spoke to Aurora.

"It's okay, Uncle Cormac. Even if I sleep late, I still feel energetic," Aurora replied, clearly very happy. "Thank you for letting me join the birthday party. I've never seen such a grand birthday party before. It was wonderful."

"Aurora, if you liked it, we can throw you a birthday party too when your birthday comes around. We can invite all your classmates. How about that?" Rowena suggested.

"No need. I'm already in high school. There's no need to go all out for a birthday. Just being part of Caspian, Harry, and Elisa's birthday party today made me very happy."

Aurora had grown up in hardship. Having a cake for her birthday was already a luxury, let alone a birthday party. Today was truly an eye-opener for her, and she was very happy!

"Alright, Uncle Cormac, Aunt Rowena, you should get some rest. I'll go check if children are asleep." Before leaving, Aurora reminded Rowena, "Aunt Rowena, don't forget to take your vitamins and drink milk. Good night."

After saying that, Aurora closed the door for them.

"Whenever Aurora is around, I have nothing to worry about. She thinks of everything." Cormac praised Aurora.

"Yes, Aurora will grow up to be an exceptional woman. I wonder who she'll marry in the future." Rowena remarked.

Hearing Rowena talk about this, and thinking about Aurora getting married in the future, Cormac started to feel uneasy.

He gently placed his hand on Rowena's slightly rounded belly.

"I hope this one is a boy," Cormac explained. "Just thinking about Aurora growing up and getting married makes me feel sad and reluctant. If this one is also a girl, and she grows up to get married like Aurora, I would be heartbroken."

"What? Cormac, are you being sexist?" Rowena teased him.

"Of course not. I love daughters. It's just that I'm afraid she might get hurt. I'm worried she might marry the wrong man or have problems with her husband's family."

Just like what happened with him and Rowena. He believed he treated Rowena well, but she was hurt by Griffon. He was genuinely afraid that his daughter will be bullied.

"I can't guarantee other men will be good, but I can guarantee I'll raise our son well. I can also guarantee that we will be good in-laws. When our son grows up and gets married, it will be like gaining a daughter. I promise to treat our daughter-in-law like my own daughter. Isn't that wonderful?"

"That's quite a long-term plan. But what if this one is a girl? Won't you like her?" Rowena asked.

"Of course, I would. I would treat her like a little princess and be extra careful with her, especially when she grows up. Just like you were hurt by my father, and Stellan was deceived by Ambrose. It's terrifying. If it's a girl, we need to be extra cautious."

Hearing this, Rowena couldn't help but laugh. "Cormac, my health is stable now. You don't need to stay home with me all the time. Stellan is also pregnant, and Mr. Knight needs to take care of her. There are also cases to look into, and Nexus Innovations to manage. He's very busy. I think you should go back to Nexus Innovations to help Mr. Knight. It's a big company, and you can learn a lot there. It will also lay the foundation for our future business. Do you think so?"

"You want me to go back to Nexus Innovations?"

"Yes, I'm doing well. I don't need anyone to take care of me. A few days ago, a friend from the industry called me to write songs. I used to have a studio, and I want to call my old friends and write songs during my pregnancy."

"Alright. I was worried you might get bored during your pregnancy. Writing songs is good. It can be prenatal education for our baby and keep you busy."

"Yes," Rowena nodded. "I'll sing the songs to you first when I finish them."

"Great."

Listening to Rowena sing was Cormac's favorite thing.

"It's late. Let's go to sleep. Good night, honey."

"Good night, darling."

Cormac was already holding Rowena as they fell asleep. Alaric hadn't reached home yet. He was driving, and Stellan was asleep in the passenger seat. Gillian was sitting in the back seat, bored and resting her chin on her hand.

"Stellan mentioned you want to pursue a Ph.D. in finance at Arizona University?" Alaric asked Gillian.

"That's the initial plan."

"Have you talked to Mr. Emberlyn about it? What did he say?"

"I'm not a child. Why do I need his approval for my decisions? Besides, wouldn't my dad be happy that I'm continuing my studies?"

"So, you're planning to stay in Arizona long-term?"

"Getting a Ph.D. from Arizona University isn't something you can just breeze through," Gillian uttered, catching Alaric's drift. "Don't worry. Even if I stay in Arizona, I won't be living at The Knight Mansion all the time."

"You can live wherever you want, but I promised Mr. Emberlyn that as long as you're in Arizona, I'm responsible for your safety."

Alaric didn't beat around the bush. "The guy you danced with tonight, Tommy, is highly intelligent and very meticulous. Even I can't see through him, let alone you. There's no one else here, so I'll be straightforward. You know your status. You're Mr. Emberlyn's daughter. For those who aspire to be officials, marrying you could really boost their status. Do you understand what I mean?"

"I understand." Gillian replied. "When I was with my dad in the military, everyone tolerated me because of his power. But now my dad is retired. He's back home enjoying his retirement, and his position is vacant. What can they use me for now? Alaric, have you been a businessman for too long? Why do you always think in terms of conspiracies?"
