Chapter 614 Finally Waiting for You
Tommy had been sentenced to five years, and Gillian was beside herself with frustration. She had already checked with the court and was particularly upset about the outcome.
"Five years? Seriously? My Tommy didn't do anything that bad. Why such a long sentence? And why didn't he appeal?"
Gillian was fuming, ready to give the judge a piece of her mind. Alaric, noticing her frustration, chimed in, "If you think five years is too long, you don't have to stick around. You two aren't married. You can leave Arizona City, go back home, change your contact info, and when Tommy gets out, he won't be able to find you."
"Alaric, how can you say that? That's so disloyal! I promised Tommy I'd wait for him. No matter how long it takes, I'll wait. Even if it's ten years, I'll wait."
Hearing this, Alaric and Stellan couldn't help but admire her. This was true love, no doubt about it.
"Besides, if Tommy behaves well in prison, his sentence will be reduced. I won't have to wait five years." Gillian was confident about this; she was sure Tommy would get his sentence reduced.
"And what about Mr. Emberlyn? Are you going to cut ties with your father for Tommy?"
"He's my dad. How could I cut ties with him? I'll show him my determination. I'll convince him. Once he agrees, I'll bring Tommy home in a few years. So what if Tommy has been to prison? What else is there to criticize about him? Nothing!"
Alaric and Stellan exchanged glances. Then Alaric said, "Gillian, I suggest you see a doctor. Get your head checked."
"Even if my head is messed up, I'm not marrying you. As long as Tommy likes me, that's all that matters. I like him, he likes me, and that's enough." Gillian retorted.
"That does make some sense."
"Of course it does," Gillian said. "Don't worry. My dad has never been able to persuade me since I was a kid. This battle will end with his surrender, as always. There's no way I'm giving up on Tommy!"
"We can see that." From a father's perspective, dealing with a daughter like this would be quite challenging.
"I have two daughters. Seeing you like this makes me anxious," Alaric said, looking at Stellan. "Galatea, we need to make sure we raise our daughters well. We can't let them turn out like Gillian."
"Got it," Stellan nodded seriously.
"That's too much!" Gillian exclaimed.
After she spoke, Alaric and Stellan couldn't help but laugh.
Tommy had been sentenced and was now serving his time in prison, doing his best to get his sentence reduced. Gillian, too, was working hard, studying day and night.
Cormac, following Alaric's advice, decided to revive the Nash family's old business and start a talent agency. He also wanted to help Rowena achieve her musical dreams by establishing a music academy.
It was a significant investment, but with Alaric's financial support, Cormac managed to get the startup funds he needed.
Alaric continued to be a successful CEO while also being a devoted super dad, watching his kids grow up.
Three years had passed. It felt long while living through it, but looking back, it seemed to have flown by.
Three years later, just after the deep winter, as the new year approached, the streets were already decorated for the celebrations.
A prison gate slowly opened, and seeing him walk out, Gillian excitedly waved.
"Tommy!"
After three years, Tommy was finally out of prison.
As expected, Tommy had behaved well in prison, earning several commendations, which led to his early release.
Walking out of that gate, Tommy felt an unprecedented sense of freedom, as if all the chains had been lifted. He was ready to start anew, to truly enjoy life, and most importantly, to love her.
As Gillian called his name, she jumped into his arms, just like she used to. Tommy quickly caught her.
During the past three years, Gillian never missed a single visitation. Now, she could finally hold him for real.
"My Tommy is finally free!" Gillian was overjoyed, having waited for this day.
"Yes, thank you, Gillian."
If it weren't for Gillian waiting for him, he wouldn't have had the motivation to behave well and earn commendations.
"You better thank me, and you better spoil me for the rest of your life."
Tommy nodded. If he ever let Gillian down, he wouldn't deserve anything less than a lightning strike.
"Come on, get in the car. I'm taking you far away from here." Gillian jumped down and pulled him into the car.
"Alaric and the others wanted to come today, but I refused. I wanted to pick you up myself. I didn't want anyone else around at this moment," Gillian said.
"How are Mr. Knight and the others?" Tommy asked.
"They're doing great," Gillian began to explain. "Nexus Innovations has grown even bigger. Alaric's net worth has skyrocketed. I've been living with them for the past three years. I see Alaric as my big brother, and he sees me as his little sister. Caspian, Harry, and Elisa all call me Aunt Gillian.
"And Alaric's good friend Cormac, he's doing amazing too. His talent agency has become huge in just three years.
"His wife is a well-known musician now, and all the company's shares are in her name. Romantic, right? Both of them are incredibly devoted to their wives."
After saying this, Gillian quickly added, "But my Tommy is the best. You may not be able to be a cop anymore, but you're so talented. You'll excel at anything you do. I believe in you."
"Gillian, I'm not that sensitive. Mr. Knight and the others are great people. They deserve all their success. I'm genuinely happy for them," Tommy said with a heartfelt smile.
"I know Tommy is the best. I just didn't want you to feel inferior. Everyone makes mistakes, right? The past is the past."
Gillian's words touched Tommy deeply. He firmly said, "I know. Don't worry, Gillian. I'll strive to be like Mr. Knight and the others. I'll work hard!"
"Good!" Gillian believed in him.
"And what about Mr. Emberlyn?" Tommy quickly asked. "Is he still in Arizona City?"
