Chapter 620 Preparing to Eat New Year's Eve Dinner

When they heard Caspian was back, Alaric and Stellan rushed outside immediately.

A military jeep was parked just outside the yard, and everyone was waiting by the car. The door opened, and Caspian stepped out.

"Caspian!" Harry was the first to run over, hugging him tightly. Despite their usual bickering, Harry had missed his brother during the years he was away.

Seeing Caspian, Stellan couldn't hold back her tears. Caspian had changed so much. He still had the face of a boy, but he seemed so mature and strikingly handsome.

"Caspian, how did you get taller than me?" Harry, standing in front of him after the hug, was genuinely surprised. "I thought all that training would stunt your growth. How are you taller than me? This doesn't make sense!"

"Rook, the only thing you had over me was your height, and now that's gone. Feeling sad?" Caspian teased.

"If you're taller, it's just because you're all brawn. I'm shorter because my brain is superior. I'm not sad at all!"

"Caspian!" Elisa ran over, hugging him and crying. "I missed you so much."

"My little Elisa has grown so tall!" Caspian looked at her with the affection of an older brother. "And even more beautiful."

"There's another one!" Harry picked up Evelyn to show Caspian. "Evelyn, this is the big brother you've only seen in photos. Isn't it amazing to see him in person?"

Evelyn?

Caspian had never met this younger sister. He quickly took Evelyn from Harry's arms.

"Caspian, you're so handsome!" Evelyn, being held so close, couldn't help but compliment him.

"Wait a minute, Evelyn. I look exactly like him. Why have you never called me handsome?" Harry was immediately jealous.

"You look the same, but your vibes are different. Caspian is just so cool!"

What? Different vibes?

"Evelyn, I'll give you another chance to say that properly!"

"Evelyn's not wrong," Elisa chimed in. "Caspian has the aura of a fashion model, while you... Well, you don't."

Harry was about to lose it.

Just then, Ethan walked over, and Evelyn proudly introduced him. "Ethan, this is my big brother. Isn't he handsome?"

"This is Uncle and Auntie's son, Ethan, right?" Caspian asked, looking at Ethan.

"Yes, and he's also your future brother-in-law," Harry added.

Future brother-in-law?

Seeing Caspian's confusion, Alaric quickly said, "Harry, stop making things up."

Alaric took Evelyn from Caspian, looking at him with such emotion that he didn't know what to say.

"Dad." Caspian greeted Alaric, then turned to Stellan. "Mom."

"Yes." Stellan's voice was choked with tears. She hugged Caspian tightly, looking him over.

"Mom, don't worry. Everything's been fine in the military."

"I know my Caspian would never make me worry," Stellan said quickly. "You must be tired from the long trip. Come inside, dinner's almost ready."

"Okay." Caspian nodded and followed Stellan inside. The house felt so warm and welcoming.

"You kids go play," Alaric said. "Dinner will be ready soon."

"Okay!"

With five kids in the house, plus Aurora, the whole place was filled with laughter and joy.

Soon, the three men had dinner ready and brought it to the table.

"Dinner's ready!" Harry called out.

Everyone sat down, ready to eat, when Alaric said, "Hold on, I invited someone else. They should be here any minute."

"You invited someone? Who?" Even Stellan didn't know.

Just then, they heard a car pulling into the yard.

"He's here."

Everyone looked towards the door as Neil walked in. Seeing him, Tommy and the others quickly stood up to greet him.

"Mr. Jackson." Neil had been Tommy's boss.

"Neil got promoted. He's the chief now," Cormac told Tommy.

"Congratulations!" Tommy said.

"The previous chief retired, and I got lucky," Neil said modestly.

"It was your hard work, not luck," Cormac said. "Mr. Jackson is too humble."

"Who's the head of the detective squad now?" Tommy asked.

"Vernon, the guy who never does anything right and can't speak plainly," Neil complained.

Vernon had gotten married and had kids, often teasing Neil for still being single.

"Mr. Jackson, you're still single?" Gillian asked boldly.

"I missed the best time to find a partner," Neil said self-deprecatingly. "I'm a workaholic, not suited for marriage. At my age, I won't burden any woman. I'll just follow Josep's example and dedicate my life to the force."

People like Josep and Neil were truly admirable. Their dedication made the world a better place.

"Josep never married, but he adopted Tommy as his son. I won't be so lucky. Looks like I'll be alone forever."

Hearing this, Alaric immediately told his four kids, "Come over and call him Uncle."

The four kids quickly ran over, shouting, "Uncle Neil!"

"Uncle Neil, don't worry. You won't be alone. Caspian is often away, but you can count on me. I'll take care of you," Harry said.

"Good." Neil patted Harry's head.

Harry felt elated by the praise, as he was used to being teased.

"Uncle Neil, I'll treat you like my real uncle. I'm your nephew!" Harry declared.

"Good boy."

"Neil, don't just stand there. Have a seat," Alaric said.

"Yes, let's sit. It's New Year's, we should be happy. But before we eat, Alaric, I need to settle an old score with you," Neil said.

"Settle a score?" Alaric was puzzled. "What?"
