Chapter 512: The Child is Here, Why Not Accept?

They hadn't told anyone about Stellan's pregnancy, not even Cormac and Rowena.

Since they had decided to have an abortion, after the procedure and once Stellan had had some time to recover, they acted as if nothing had happened.

For the past two days, Alaric hadn't gone anywhere; he stayed at the hospital with Stellan. Two days passed, and it was time for Stellan's surgery.

Because the surgery was scheduled for today, Stellan hadn't slept at all the night before. In fact, neither had Alaric; both were sleepless.

Since Stellan was the first surgery of the day, the nurse came to notify them early in the morning.

Stellan nervously clutched Alaric's hand. Alaric gently patted the back of her hand and comforted her, "It's okay, it's painless now and very quick. I'll be waiting for you outside."

"Alaric, do we really have abortion?" Stellan had never been able to make up her mind.

"Yes," Alaric answered firmly. "We're already about to have the surgery; there's no point in hesitating now."

Seeing Alaric's determination, Stellan gave up her struggle once again. She was then wheeled into the operating room, and the surgery consent form was handed to Alaric.

Looking at the consent form, Alaric felt particularly heavy-hearted. Signing this would take away a small life.

"I'm sorry, baby, forgive me."

Alaric didn't want to do it either, but he had no choice. He picked up the pen and signed the form.

After signing, Alaric sat outside waiting, feeling particularly tormented. Although the surgery would only take about half an hour, it felt like an eternity to him.

Alaric sat on the bench with his head hanging low. It felt like only ten minutes had passed when the operating room door opened, and he looked up to see Stellan coming out.

What was going on?

"Stelllan, what's wrong?" Alaric hurried over to ask. "Is it done or..."

"I'm not doing it." Stellan had been convinced before and had steeled herself, but just as the doctor was about to inject the anesthesia, she went from indecisive to resolute.

"What? You're not doing it?" Alaric was also taken aback.

"Yes, I'm not doing it!" Stellan spoke firmly this time. "You don't want to gamble with my body for my sake, I know, but we can't give up on the baby's life so early because of that. I admit the first childbirth left me with severe psychological trauma, but this baby is already here. Being afraid won't help, so why not take the risk? If we win, we'll have another child in our family. If we lose, the worst outcome is inducing labor at seven or eight months. I've already given birth to triplets; what's there to fear about the pain of induction?"

After hearing Stellan's words, Alaric suddenly didn't know what to say and felt an urge to cry.

He hugged Stellan tightly, holding her for a long time without saying a word.

Stellan placed Alaric's hand on her lower abdomen and smiled, "Didn't you always say you regretted not witnessing the birth of our children? Well, here comes another one. We both love him so much; I believe he will be a healthy baby, not deformed, definitely not!"

"Yes," Alaric nodded. "He will definitely be as smart, cute, and healthy as Caspian, Harry, and Elisa."

"Yes." Stellan also firmly believed.

Alaric picked Stellan up, speaking, "Let's go home and rest well!"

Since they decided to keep the baby, they would take good care of the pregnancy. As for the high chance of the baby being deformed, they agreed not to tell anyone anything besides the fact that she was pregnant.

When they got home, Gillian was just about to leave and was surprised to see them back from the hospital.

"Stellan is discharged today?" Gillian asked.

"Yes, but she needs to rest at home. I've arranged for doctors to come over soon."

Gillian had overheard Stellan's pregnancy situation at the door. She thought, 'Wasn't the baby likely to be deformed? They still decided to keep it?'

Alaric carried Stellan to the bedroom, tucked her in, and cooed gently, "Stellan, you rest for a while. I'll make you some food."

"Okay." Stellan nodded.

Strangely enough, when she didn't know she was pregnant, everything felt normal. Now that she knew, she suddenly felt the symptoms of pregnancy, feeling a bit nauseous and not wanting to eat greasy food.

"Wait a bit, I'll be quick." After saying that, Alaric hurried out.

After Alaric left, Gillian knocked and came in. Seeing her, Stellan said, "Come in."

Gillian walked in, sat by her bed, and asked, "Is keeping the baby Alaric's idea or yours?"

"It's my idea."

Hearing this, Gillian was really surprised. "Why? Didn't the doctor say the baby is likely to be deformed?"

"They said it's only a possibility. There's also a chance he won't be deformed," Stellan replied.

"But what if? What if you find out at seven or eight months pregnant and have to induce labor?" Gillian couldn't understand. "You already have three children; why can't you give up this one? Isn't abortion the best choice for you now?"

Hearing this, Stellan smiled, "That's because you're still young. When you become a mother, you'll understand that a mother won't give up on any of her children."

"Even if he might not survive, you'll still try?"

"Yes."

Gillian fell silent. She really couldn't understand it now.

Seeing her confusion, Stellan smiled again and spoke, "No matter how much I say now, you won't understand. But when you become a mother, you'll understand without my words."

"I don't even have a boyfriend yet; where would I get a child?"

"What kind do you like?" Stellan asked. "Finding a boyfriend should be easy for you."

"I like someone like Alaric, but he's already married to you. There's only one Alaric in this world, and I know he belongs to you, not to me or anyone else."

Stellan had long seen through Gillian's little thoughts. She had brought her into the family hoping she would give up.

But it was rare for her to figure it out so quickly. Stellan comforted her, "There's only one Alaric in this world, but there's also only one person who will become your future husband. If you broaden your horizons, you'll see things more clearly."

"By the way, Gillian," Stellan voiced seriously, "Only the three of us know about the possibility of my baby being deformed. Please keep it a secret, okay? Don't tell anyone, especially not Caspian, Harry, and Elisa."
