Chapter 593: Come Back Quickly, Your Wife Is About to Give Birth

"You jerk!" Cormac yelled at the dusty Knight Manor, his anger directed at Alaric. "Alaric didn't even say where he was going. What am I supposed to do with all this stuff? Does he want it or not?"

Earlier, Alaric had been sorting through some of Marigold's belongings, setting aside a few items. Now that he had left, Cormac was unsure if these were things Alaric intended to take with him or to dispose of.

Unable to resist, Cormac picked up a photo album, flipping through it. It was solely Alaric's album, with no one else in the pictures. What had Alaric seen in these photos?

Just as he was about to start cleaning up, his phone rang. It was Stellan. Was she calling because she couldn't find Alaric and had come looking for him?

"Hey, Galatea."

"Cormac, where are you? Rowena's having contractions, and she's already three centimeters dilated. You need to come back right away."

"What? Rowena's in labor? She was fine when I left!" Cormac was both excited and nervous, hardly able to believe it.

"Once the pregnancy reaches full term, labor can start at any time. Hurry back."

"Okay, I'm on my way." Cormac was so anxious and excited upon hearing that Rowena was in labor that he grabbed his car keys and rushed out without a second thought.

He sped to the VitalityCare Medical Center as fast as he could. Gillian was there, helping Rowena walk slowly down the hallway, with Stellan sitting on a bench nearby due to some abdominal pain.

Rowena was already experiencing contractions. She walked when she could, but when the pain hit, she couldn't move at all.

"Rowena!" Cormac hurried over to support her, his heart aching at the sight of her pain. "Are you okay? Is it really bad?"

"It's fine. This is just part of having a baby. I can handle it." Rowena clung tightly to his arm, speaking after the contraction passed. "Cormac, Gillian is still recovering. Let her rest. You can help me walk a bit more."

"You're in so much pain. Maybe you should rest too," Cormac said, worried as he saw how much she was struggling but still insisting on walking.

"No, the doctor said walking helps with labor. I'll keep going a bit longer."

Just as Rowena said she would walk more, another contraction hit, each one more intense than the last, until she could no longer move.

"What do we do now?" Cormac, inexperienced in such matters, was frantic seeing Rowena in so much pain. "Is natural birth always this painful? Should we consider a C-section?"

"No!" Rowena was adamant. "I want a natural birth. I can do this!"

Rowena's check-ups had shown the baby was in the perfect position, with no complications like a nuchal cord. Determined to avoid a C-section scar, she was set on a natural birth.

With Rowena insisting on a natural birth, Cormac had no choice but to support her, feeling helpless and worried.

The intervals between Rowena's contractions grew shorter, and the pain more intense, until she couldn't speak at all.

"Is childbirth always this painful?" Cormac had never witnessed a birth before and was deeply distressed by Rowena's suffering, unable to help her.

"Even though I've never given birth, I know it's one of the most painful experiences," Gillian said. "Pregnancy is really tough."

Rowena was now in so much pain she couldn't stand up straight, her abdomen and back aching. Stellan quickly said, "The pain means it's almost time. I'll tell the doctor. You need to get to the delivery room."

"Yeah, let's get to the delivery room," Cormac said urgently.

Stellan had arranged for a luxurious VIP delivery room, a private area where only the medical staff, the mother, and her family were allowed, ensuring a quiet environment.

Rowena, now unable to bear the pain, was helped into the delivery room by Cormac. The doctors were ready to assist with the birth.

After they went in, Stellan looked around but didn't see Alaric. With Cormac fully focused on Rowena and her intense pain earlier, she hadn't had a chance to ask about him.

Cormac stayed with Rowena in the delivery room, while Gillian, tired from walking, went to rest in the waiting area next door.

Stellan took out her phone and called Alaric, but the message said, "Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable..."

She tried again, but the message was the same. What was going on?

Was it because today was both Marigold's birthday and death anniversary, and Alaric was feeling down after commemorating her?

How could he be in a good mood on his mother's death anniversary? Maybe he just needed some time alone.

At that moment, Rowena's cries of pain came from the delivery room, prompting Stellan to put away her phone and rush inside.

Rowena's water had broken, and she was now on the delivery bed, starting to give birth. Cormac held her hand, sweating with worry and sympathy.

"That's it, keep pushing," the doctor encouraged Rowena.

Stellan, standing by, felt her own stomach tighten with anxiety, unsure if it was just nerves or a real reaction.

Meanwhile, Alaric was in a police SUV, studying a map and marking it up, with Neil sitting beside him. Seeing Alaric so focused, Neil tried to speak, "Alaric..."

"Hold on!" Alaric cut him off, continuing to mark the map. Neil had no choice but to hold back his words.

In that room, Alaric had spent a long time persuading Tommy, using every argument he could think of until his mouth was dry.

Tommy had finally broken down emotionally, but in the end, it was worth it. He revealed Tiger's current hideout.

Upon learning Tiger's location, Neil immediately reported to headquarters. After a quick briefing, they set out.

Tiger had chosen a remote, forested mountain as his hideout, a place carefully selected for its seclusion.

Alaric wasn't a cop and shouldn't be involved in such a dangerous mission. But given his unique status and long-standing rivalry with Tiger, Alaric insisted on coming, and Neil couldn't refuse.

Not only had Alaric come along, but he was also taking charge, directing the operation. Neil had wanted to ask him something, but Alaric hadn't given him a chance to speak.
