Chapter 550: The Conversation Between Thomas and Josep
Thomas and Josep have both arrived. It's really impolite for their family of five to be late.
"Yes, I'm really sorry, Mr. Emberlyn, Josep. We should have left earlier, but we ended up being late. I'm truly sorry." Stellan quickly apologized.
"It's okay." Josep replied at this moment.
"Yes, Alaric, quickly get Stellan seated. She's pregnant, she shouldn't be standing." Thomas spoke, then looked at Caspian, Harry, and Elisa, clearly surprised.
What adorable kids Caspian, Harry, and Elisa are!
Seeing Thomas looking their way, Alaric quickly introduced, "Mr. Emberlyn, these are my three children, this is..."
"Mr. Emberlyn, hello, my name is Caspian Knight!" Before Alaric could start the introduction, Caspian quickly stood at attention, as if reporting to a superior.
"Mr. Emberlyn, hello, my name is Rook Storm." Harry followed suit with his introduction.
"Mr. Emberlyn, hello, my name is Zoe Hartley." Elisa quickly added.
Thomas already knew that the three kids had different last names, which was quite unique.
"Truly Alaric's children, you are so adorable!" Thomas praised them.
"Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Emberlyn." Caspian quickly replied.
After getting to know Caspian, Harry, and Elisa, Thomas immediately ordered Gillian, "Gillian, apologize to Alaric right now!"
"No need, Mr. Emberlyn..." Alaric was about to refuse.
"You must!" Thomas interrupted Alaric, then ordered Gillian again, "Did you hear me? Apologize now!"
Since Thomas had already made a concession, Gillian couldn't be too unreasonable. She quickly stood up and said to Alaric, "I'm sorry, I spoke out of turn."
"Is that how you apologize? Be more sincere!" Thomas scolded again.
"It's really okay, Mr. Emberlyn," Caspian spoke up at this moment. "Please don't blame Gillian. With such an impressive father, it's understandable for her to be a bit willful."
Harry and Elisa exchanged glances again. Is this really Caspian? Has he gone mad?
"You're a grown-up, yet you don't understand as much as Caspian," Thomas blamed Gillian. "Sit down now."
Gillian had no choice but to sit down with a pout. Josep stepped in to ease the tension, "To us, they are all just kids. It's just a conflict between children, Mr. Emberlyn. Please don't be angry with Gillian. Actually, it's all Tommy's fault for hiding such a big matter!"
"Yes," Tommy quickly chimed in, "It's all my fault."
"Alright, we're not here to criticize you today," Thomas didn't want to ruin the dining atmosphere. "Since everyone is here, let's all take our seats."
"Mr. Emberlyn, can I sit next to you?" Caspian quickly asked.
"Of course, come sit next to me, Caspian."
"Thank you, Mr. Emberlyn." Caspian happily sat next to him, and Harry and Elisa also found their seats.
Once everyone was seated, Josep was the first to speak to Thomas, "Mr. Emberlyn, although you said earlier that today is not specifically to criticize Tommy and Gillian, Tommy made such a mistake. As his uncle, I also bear some responsibility."
After saying that, Josep extended his hand, ready to shake Thomas's hand, which surprised Alaric and Stellan. Josep wasn't particularly close to Tommy, but he showed great responsibility in this situation.
"Josep, you don't have to do that," seeing this, Thomas immediately took Josep's hand. "I understand the situation. Gillian was too strong-willed and willful, so there's no need for any apologies."
"Mr. Emberlyn, you truly are a great person, so understanding." Josep praised him.
"You're too kind," Thomas quickly replied. "Josep, you are a medical expert, saving lives and advancing human health. You are highly respected. I can't compare to you."
"You are too modest. I'm just a small doctor. Compared to a hero who protects the country like you, I'm nothing."
Thomas and Josep, both are top figures in their respective fields, with high social status.
When they meet, it's normal for them to exchange compliments. Tommy choosing Josep as the family representative was indeed a smart move.
Given their status, how could they argue about who was right or wrong between Tommy and Gillian like ordinary people?
After this meal, Thomas, who initially disapproved of Tommy and Gillian's relationship, probably agreed to it now.
"Mr. Emberlyn," Josep voiced at this moment, "To be honest, when Tommy called me saying he had a girlfriend, and it was your daughter, I was really surprised. How lucky is Tommy? How does he deserve Gillian?"
"Josep, you're exaggerating," Thomas replied. "I've learned about Tommy these past few days. He is very outstanding. In this regard, I really want to ask you for advice. How did you raise Tommy so well? Look at me, I've spent half my life teaching Gillian, and she still doesn't understand anything at her age!"
"How could that be? Gillian is so beautiful and graceful. It's truly Tommy's luck," Josep spoke again. "Today, both families are meeting. Such a big event should have Tommy's parents present, but I'm really sorry.
Tommy had a tough fate. His parents divorced when he was young and each started new families, leaving him uncared for. He has a strong sense of self-respect and never sought them out again. All these years, he has relied on himself.
For so many years, he hasn't been in contact with his parents. If he had any contact with them, such a big event, wouldn't be so impolite to have me replace them, Mr. Emberlyn, please don't be angry."
"Gillian has told me about this. I really didn't expect it. Tommy has had a hard time all these years."
Hearing this, Alaric sighed inwardly. 'Josep was really impressive. By now, this marriage was already settled.'
And he really didn't know the purpose of coming here today. Was it just to witness Tommy and Gillian's relationship being approved?
After that, Thomas and Josep had a great conversation, discussing various world affairs and unique insights, like two strong individuals exchanging ideas.
Except for them, it seemed like no one else at the table existed. But what surprised Alaric the most was that near the end of dinner, Thomas went to the restroom, and Caspian immediately followed him.
The door to the private room was half-open, and Alaric could see through the gap that Thomas and Caspian were having a conversation, looking very happy.
Is this still the usually silent Caspian? How is he having such a good conversation with Thomas?
