Chapter 554: "This is your way of decompressing, no need to quit!"
After Thomas took Caspian away, they disappeared into the crowd. Alaric and Stellan didn't know what to feel at that moment
"Alaric, Caspian really is your son, impressive!" Gillian couldn't help but praise.
Alaric looked at Gillian, then at Tommy. Now that Thomas had left, their relationship was officially recognized, and they could openly date.
"Thank you for the compliment," Alaric replied. "If there's nothing else, we'll be going."
"Alright." Gillian responded.
Alaric wrapped his arm around Stellan, with Harry and Elisa following on either side, and the family of four walked out of the airport.
After they left, Gillian jumped onto Tommy without any hesitation, and Tommy quickly caught her.
"My dad's gone, so now it's just the two of us. Did you miss me these past few days?" Gillian asked with excitement.
Gillian never cared about what others thought and just did her own thing, but Tommy was a bit shy about that.
"We're still at the airport, so many people are watching, get down." Tommy cooed softly.
"They're all strangers, what's there to be afraid of? I just want you to hold me!" Instead of getting down, Gillian leaned her head on his shoulder.
Tommy, feeling helpless, had no choice but to carry her out of the airport. Once outside, they got into the car. Gillian remained excited, while Tommy seemed like he was lost in thought.
"What's wrong, Tommy? My dad has agreed to our relationship, and now that he's gone, it's just the two of us. Aren't you happy?" Gillian asked.
"No," Tommy sighed. "It's just that seeing that scene earlier made me realize that after all these years, I still feel less accomplished than Caspian, a child."
Hearing this, Gillian pouted and explained, "Caspian, Harry, and Elisa are all special. When I stayed at The Knight Mansion, they often left me speechless."
After saying this, Gillian couldn't help but start imagining, "But you don't need to be envious. Our future children will definitely be even better!"
Their future children?
Thinking of this, Tommy couldn't help but smile.
"I didn't expect things to go so smoothly this time," Gillian still felt like she was dreaming. "Josep is amazing. We should find a chance to thank him properly."
Gillian was truly grateful to Josep. Without him, Thomas might not have agreed so quickly.
"Alright," Tommy responded. "We really should thank Uncle Josep. Also, because of me, Uncle Josep and Mr. Knight had some disagreements. Uncle Josep didn't get mad at me and was still willing to help. I'm very grateful."
"Yeah, Josep is much more reliable than your parents," Gillian commented, suddenly remembering something. "Didn't you say Josep never married and has no children?"
"Yes, he's dedicated his whole life to medicine. It's remarkable."
"Don't worry, Tommy. When we get married, I'll help you take good care of Josep." Gillian spoke.
Hearing this, Tommy nodded happily, then focused on driving. After a while, Tommy asked for her opinion, "Gillian, mind if I smoke?"
Before she could respond, Tommy quickly added, "Don't worry, I'll quit."
"You don't need to quit," Gillian replied straightforwardly. "I don't know about other women, but I find men who smoke very attractive. Besides, someone as healthy as you wouldn't normally smoke, so it must be work stress. If smoking helps you relax, why quit? And you don't smoke often. If you feel stressed at work and want to smoke occasionally, that's fine. I understand."
After Gillian finished speaking, Tommy was speechless for a long time. He didn't expect her to say that.
Gillian found his cigarettes, took one out, and handed it to him, then lit it for him.
With the car window wide open, Tommy smoked with his left hand and held the steering wheel with his right.
"You look super cool smoking with one hand and holding the steering wheel with the other!"
Every time Gillian went overboard with praise, Tommy got really shy.
"There are so many handsome guys in the world. How did someone as shallow as you survive until now?" Tommy asked.
"That's not true. I'm not that shallow. It's not just about looks. When I admired Alaric, it was never as much as I admire you. The man I fall in love with must be the best man in the universe!" Gillian replied.
Tommy couldn't help but laugh helplessly. Then he looked at the time and spoke, "I have a night shift tonight. I'll go home and cook for you first, then head to work. You should go to bed early tonight."
"Even after your promotion, you still have night shifts?"
"All the more reason to set an example. Be good, I'll be back after my shift tomorrow."
"I just feel bad for you," Gillian uttered. "Why don't we hire a housekeeper? When you're tired, the housekeeper can cook. Otherwise, I really feel bad."
"Alright," Tommy agreed. "If I have to work, I'll feel better knowing there's someone to take care of you."
"Okay, leave it to me," Gillian said, unable to contain her excitement. She turned on the car stereo and cranked up the volume.
Then she started singing along, dancing and swaying, while Tommy continued to smoke.
At this moment, Alaric was also smoking a cigarette in his study. Caspian had grown up by his side, and now that he had suddenly left home, Alaric felt a bit lost.
Having experienced this himself, he understood. Caspian should have already arrived at the military dormitory by now. He wondered if Caspian was adjusting well.
Hearing the door being pushed open, Alaric quickly put out his cigarette and walked out.
"Did you wake up?" Alaric asked.
After returning from the airport, Stellan had cried for a while and then went to sleep out of exhaustion.
Alaric looked at Stellan's swollen eyes and cooed, "Look at you, your eyes are all swollen. Caspian joining the military is a good thing. Don't cry anymore."
"You talk about me, but weren't you just hiding in the study smoking?"
Alaric sniffed himself and realized he reeked of smoke.
"I'll go take a shower." After saying that, he headed to the bathroom.
Stellan went downstairs to find Harry and Elisa sitting on the couch, looking very quiet.
"What's wrong? Are you planning to sit there all day without eating or sleeping?" Stellan asked.
"Mom, with Caspian gone, it feels like the house is missing a lot of people. Even someone like me, who loves to eat, has lost my appetite." Elisa replied.
"Me too. Suddenly, there's no one to argue with. It's so boring. I don't even feel like eating dinner. I'm going to do my homework." Harry answered, getting up weakly and slowly heading upstairs.
