Chapter 513: About to Be a Dad Again, Not Happy?
"Okay." Gillian nodded. "Don't worry, I won't say a word."
Stellan smiled gratefully. Then Gillian pursed her lips and spoke, "I can tell that Alaric doesn't want me to work at Nexus Innovations at all. Forget it, I won't bother him. I thought it over yesterday.
I actually don't want to work right now, nor do I want to go home to my dad's nagging. I want to continue my studies and pursue a PhD in finance at Arizona University, but I don't know if that's feasible.
But don't worry, even if I decide to go for a PhD, I won't stay at The Knight Mansion forever. If I stay too long, Alaric will get annoyed and kick me out. I'm not that shameless."
Hearing Gillian say this, Stellan smiled and spoke directly, "Alaric isn't that petty. He told me himself, as long as you treat him as a friend, he'll be a good friend to you."
"Forget it. If I decide to pursue a PhD, I'll need a quiet place to study. Your house is already bustling with five people, and you have another one on the way. It's too lively to study here." Gillian refused slowly.
"Think it over. If you really decide to go for a PhD, then plan the next step. For now, just stay here. Caspian, Harry, and Elisa's birthday is coming up soon. You're invited to their birthday party." Stellan uttered.
"Alright." Gillian responded.
Since Alaric and Stellan decided to keep the baby, they couldn't hide it anymore. They told Caspian, Harry, and Elisa, as well as Cormac and Rowena.
They were all overjoyed, especially Caspian, Harry, and Elisa. Even the usually cool and composed Caspian couldn't help but jump with excitement.
"I'm going to be a big sister!" Elisa shouted the loudest. "I'm not the youngest anymore. I'm going to be a big sister. How awesome!"
"I want a sister!" Harry started shouting too. "I want a gentle and smart sister of my own. I want to be her big brother!"
Elisa rolled her eyes at this. Wasn't she gentle? Wasn't she smart?
"It doesn't matter if it's a boy or a girl. It's just great to have another person in the family." Caspian voiced eagerly.
"Now that you know your mommy is pregnant, you all need to behave." Alaric instructed the three children.
"We're always well-behaved, whether mommy is pregnant or not," Harry replied happily to Alaric. "Don't worry, Daddy. We know the baby in mommy's belly is yours, but we're also his big brothers and sister. We'll help you take care of mommy."
"Exactly, I'll be a good big brother too."
After Caspian finished speaking, Harry immediately retorted, "Caspian, can you stop always bringing up that you're our big brother? You were only born a few seconds before us, and you act so superior."
"I meant I'll take good care of Elisa and the baby in mommy's belly. I wasn't talking about you." Caspian, who hated arguments, replied, but Harry just wouldn't stop talking every day.
"Stop!" Seeing that Caspian and Harry were about to argue again, Alaric ordered directly, "Didn't I tell you two to practice boxing? Go to the gym on the third floor for a match. Don't come down until there's a winner."
"No way!" Caspian and Harry replied in unison.
"You're the only one who would encourage us to fight." Harry complained.
"Exactly." Caspian agreed.
"If you don't want to fight, then go to do your homework in the study. It's too noisy here." Alaric spoke to them.
Caspian, Harry, and Elisa looked at each other. Harry asked, "Did you feel that? Mommy just got pregnant, and we're already out of favor. Dad actually thinks we're annoying now."
"Yeah, he loved us yesterday, but today he's annoyed," Elisa accused Alaric. "Daddy, you don't have to favor the baby in mommy's belly just because he's small. We're all your kids."
"That's right," Caspian added, then voiced, "Let's go, Harry, Elisa, back to the study."
Alaric felt utterly helpless. He had to deal with Caspian, Harry, and Elisa's complaints every day now.
"Who would've thought Alaric would have a day of setbacks? It's so satisfying," Gillian said gleefully.
Stellan just laughed on the side. Alaric looked at Gillian, then at Stellan, and found it strange. 'How did they end up on the same side?'
"Alaric, hurry up to cook. Cormac and Rowena will be here soon." Stellan urged him.
"Alright, you go to the living room. The kitchen is smoky, stay away," Alaric instructed, then went to cook.
Soon, Cormac and Rowena arrived. When they heard Stellan was pregnant, Rowena was ecstatic. She didn't expect that they would be pregnant around the same time.
After Cormac and Rowena arrived, Stellan introduced them, "Cormac, Rowena, this is Mr. Emberlyn's daughter, Gillian."
"I've heard of you," Cormac greeted quickly. "Ms. Emberlyn, nice to meet you."
"Mr. Nash, right? I've heard of you too," Gillian replied. "When Alaric was still in the military, he often complained about your calls."
Cormac gave a wry smile but secretly wanted to punch Alaric.
"Alright, you all chat. I'll go help in the kitchen." Cormac uttered.
After Cormac went to the kitchen, it was just the three women in the living room. Being with two pregnant women made Gillian feel a lot of pressure. Plus, Stellan and Rowena were friends and had a lot in common, making her feel out of place.
"Congratulations," Cormac said to Alaric when he entered the kitchen. "You're going to be a dad again. If Stellan has triplets again, your house will be really lively."
"Please, one is enough. No more multiples."
The baby already had a high risk of deformity. Having multiple babies would be even more dangerous.
Seeing Alaric's expression, Cormac felt something was off and asked, "Why do you seem not very happy about Stellan's pregnancy?"
When he found out Rowena was pregnant, he was over the moon. Why was Alaric reacting this way? Was it because it was the second pregnancy, so there was no excitement or surprise?
"No, I'm happy. I'm almost crying tears of joy." Alaric forced a smile.
Of course, Alaric would be happy about the pregnancy, but his worries outweighed his joy. He and Stellan had agreed to keep it a secret, even from Cormac.
