Chapter 514: An Unexpected Birthday Party

Noticing his insincerity, Cormac smirked and helped him while chatting, "Has Neil contacted you recently? How's the Storm family case going?"

"The trail has gone cold, and Neil is at his wit's end."

Indeed, the trail had gone cold, but it wasn't entirely without progress. At least they had confirmed that Alaric's long-time rival, Tiger, was the mastermind behind framing the Storm family.

As for who Tiger really was and why he was the mastermind behind two completely unrelated cases, Alaric still hadn't connected the dots.

"And what about Tommy?" Cormac asked. "Even someone like me who doesn't check Facebook knows that Tommy is a celebrity now. I heard his legal education livestreams have more viewers than many celebrities' streams."

Tommy?

Hearing that name again, Alaric paused, sighed softly, and muttered to himself, "I don't know why, but whenever Tommy is mentioned, I feel uneasy. It always feels like his presence will affect me somehow, but I can't pinpoint exactly how. As long as he's around, I can't find peace."

Cormac was completely stunned, looking at Alaric in disbelief. "Alaric, are you sick? Last time you said you didn't get along with Tommy, and now you say you can't find peace? Are these really your words?"

Alaric replied with a bitter smile, "I really wish I were just sick and talking nonsense."

"Alright, it's my fault for bringing him up. Let's not talk about him. Caspian, Harry, and Elisa's birthdays are coming up. Now that Stellan is pregnant, are you still throwing a birthday party?"

"Of course, this is the first birthday Caspian, Harry, and Elisa will celebrate together. A birthday party is a must. I want to invite their classmates over. If you have time, come join the fun; if not, that's fine too," Alaric responded.

"You said it's their first birthday together. How could I not come? I need to prepare good birthday gifts for them."

"No need," Alaric teased. "You're so stingy now. If I ask you to prepare three birthday gifts at once, you might not sleep well at night from the heartache."

"That's true," Cormac replied, playing along. "But thinking about what you said, that you'll give my kids a wedding fund in the future, makes this small effort worth it."

Alaric laughed at that while Cormac couldn't help but smile too. Then Cormac glanced at Gillian in the living room and voiced, "Gillian has moved into The Knight Mansion?"

"Yes, but she probably won't stay long. I promised Mr. Emberlyn I'd take good care of her." Alaric answered.

Cormac nodded, and then Alaric added, "Bring Aurora to the birthday party too. Let her join in."

"That's what I was thinking. Aurora is always studying; she needs to relax."

"Have you told her the truth about Matthew and Orion's car accident?"

"No," Cormac replied. "Aurora is very sensible despite her young age. If she knew the truth, she wouldn't be able to handle it and felt very guilty on Matthew's behalf towards me. I can't tell her."

"Not bad, Cormac. You've really matured a lot."

"Alaric, stop with the backhanded compliments. You're the one who's immature!"

With that, they both laughed again.

After they finished cooking, the family gathered around the dining table. Now that both Stellan and Rowena were pregnant, Alaric and Cormac were kept very busy.

They barely had time to eat, focusing instead on taking care of the pregnant Stellan and Rowena, attending to every detail.

"Gillian," Elisa said to Gillian, "seeing this, don't you feel like we're extra?"

"You'll get used to it," Harry added. "In this house, we often feel like we're extra."

Gillian gave a bitter smile. Seeing how Alaric pampered Stellan was already enough to make her jealous, and now there was also Cormac and Rowena.

Gillian had always wanted to be in a relationship but was very resistant to having children. She thought being pregnant made her look particularly ugly, and giving birth would be extremely painful.

But seeing how Alaric and Cormac took care of Stellan and Rowena during their pregnancies made her really jealous.

If she were to get pregnant in the future and had a man take care of her like that, she might be willing to have three or four children for him.

After dinner, Cormac and Rowena left. Since both Stellan and Rowena were pregnant, they needed to rest early, so dinner ended particularly early.

"Mommy, you have another baby in your belly. Go rest," Caspian spoke, helping Stellan into the bedroom.

"Daddy," Harry said to Alaric, "you can't forget about us just because you have a new baby. You promised to throw us a birthday party."

"Don't worry, the venue is almost set up. I'll definitely give you a surprise."

"That's more like it," Elisa reminded. "And don't forget our birthday gifts."

"OK."

"Okay. We have school tomorrow, so we're going to bed. Goodnight, Daddy, Gillian."

Caspian, Harry, and Elisa obediently went to bed. Alaric told Gillian, "It's getting late. You should go to bed early too. I'll think about what work to assign you."

"Don't bother thinking about it. Even if you want me, I'm not going." Gillian replied with displeasure, then turned to her room.

Gillian not wanting to go was exactly what Alaric wanted; he was just afraid she would change her mind.

In the following days, Alaric was really swamped. He had to take care of the pregnant Stellan, prepare for three children's birthday party, and couldn't neglect his work at Nexus Innovations.

The birthday party for Caspian, Harry, and Elisa was held at an entertainment center, with the banquet hall completely redecorated. Alaric personally oversaw the decorations, putting in a lot of effort.

Fortunately, after this period of care, there was no longer a risk of miscarriage, and Stellan just waited for the prenatal check-up in three or four months.

Originally, Alaric intended for the birthday party to be a family affair with Caspian, Harry, and Elisa's classmates. However, since everyone at Nexus Innovations knows, more people became aware of it.

Those who usually didn't have a chance to see Alaric took this opportunity to come. What was supposed to be a simple party turned into a large gathering with many uninvited guests.

"Today's birthday party for Caspian, Harry, and Elisa is really lively. You can see Alaric's influence; so many people came uninvited," Cormac remarked.

"I didn't expect this either."

"But birthday parties are meant to be lively. With so many people here, look how happy the three children are."

Indeed, the happiest ones were Caspian, Harry, and Elisa. They received many birthday gifts, and Alaric had thoughtfully prepared gifts for each of their classmates.

Their classmates were thrilled and envious.

"This place is like a castle. You guys live in a castle!"

"And Mr. Knight is so handsome and even prepared gifts for us. How awesome!"

"Yeah, he's so handsome and rich. I wish my dad were like that. I'm so jealous of you guys!"

Hearing these envious comments from their classmates, Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were overjoyed.

No matter what, today was their birthday, and as long as they were happy, that was all that mattered.

The birthday party turned into a large banquet, with Caspian, Harry, and Elisa having a great time, and the guests enjoying themselves until an unexpected guest arrived.
