Chapter 557: Going Further Down the Path of Obsessive Infatuation

"Because she's your housekeeper," Gillian explained. "Alaric and Tommy don't get along, and Tommy has such a strong sense of pride. Knowing that I hired your housekeeper would definitely upset him. That won't do!"

Stellan was surprised. She hadn't expected Gillian to be so considerate of Tommy's feelings. It was quite unexpected to see this proud Gillian thinking so much about Tommy.

"Alright then, I'll go with you to find one. Let's find the best."

"It doesn't have to be the best. The best ones are expensive. Something decent will do."

"Expensive?" Stellan was surprised again. Gillian would consider the cost?

"Yes," Gillian replied. "Tommy's job is tough and he doesn't make a lot. How can it compare to Alaric's? My dad left me quite a bit of money when he left Arizona, and with what Tommy gives me, I want to save up quickly, sell this house, and get a bigger one. He works so hard; he deserves to live comfortably. So the only way is for me to cut back on spending. I don't earn anything right now, and Tommy works so hard for his money. I can't stand wasting it."

Hearing Gillian say this, Stellan felt a bit moved. Gillian truly loved Tommy to consider so much.

"Gillian, hearing you say this really makes me see you in a new light."

"Not just you, I see myself in a new light too. When I had this thought, I was shocked. I never thought I'd be thinking about how to save money one day. But that's love, right? You can change everything for the other person. Tommy works so hard, always outsmarting those criminals and putting himself in danger. It's really exhausting."

"Congratulations on finding true love. You seem very content now."

"Very content!" Gillian said with great interest. "I used to envy how Alaric pampered you. Now? I don't envy anyone but myself. Tommy is way better than Alaric in every way."

"Yes, Tommy is the best. I won't argue with you."

Gillian smiled proudly, and Stellan spoke, "Gillian, let's play a game from now on. I won't mention Alaric, and you won't mention Tommy. Let's just find a good housekeeper, okay?"

Stellan really couldn't stand Gillian anymore. How could someone be so obsessed with a man? She had a deep love for Alaric too, but she didn't go around praising him to everyone. Gillian seemed like she couldn't go a minute without mentioning Tommy.

"Alright, I won't say it. Let's just find a housekeeper." Gillian suddenly thought of something, "By the way, Stellan, you're familiar with Arizona, and you've known Josep for so many years. You should know his taste. Can you recommend a few fancy restaurants based on his taste? Tommy and I want to treat Josep to a nice meal."

"Sure."

From their last meal together, Stellan could see that Josep played a crucial role in supporting Tommy and Gillian's relationship.

Today, Stellan had a productive day. She and Gillian found a maid they were both satisfied with, Vivienne Mae, a middle-aged woman in her fifties who looked honest and simple.

After finding the maid, Gillian went home and found Tommy already up and working out. Gillian was really helpless about this.

"You've only slept for a few hours. You stayed up all night. How can you sleep so little? Go back to bed."

"I've slept long enough. I'm full of energy now. Did you find a housekeeper?"

"Yes, I did." Gillian quickly brought the housekeeper over to introduce her. "Tommy Reaves, this is the housekeeper I found, Vivienne Mae. Vivienne, this is my boyfriend Tommy, a super amazing cop."

Gillian was really proud of Tommy to everyone she met, and Tommy was helpless about it.

"Hello, Vivienne. You can call me Tommy. You've met Gillian, my girlfriend." Tommy voiced, "I only have one bedroom here, so I can't put you up overnight, but I'll cover your commute. Is that okay?"

"Sure, no problem."

"Alright," Tommy continued. "I'll write down my work schedule for you. When I'm home, you don't need to come. I don't have any other requirements for you, just take good care of her while I'm at work."

"Okay, Mr. Reaves."

"The place is small. You can familiarize yourself with it. I don't need you here today since I'm home. Once you're familiar, you can leave and come back tomorrow morning."

"Okay."

Gillian offered a good wage, and since Vivienne didn't need to come when Tommy was home, it was much easier.

After Vivienne familiarized herself with the place, she left, leaving just the two of them at home. Tommy checked the time and voiced, "Gillian, it's time to study."

"Alright."

It was rare for him to be home during the day, and Gillian was really happy. They went into the study, and Tommy handed her a book, reminding her, "You read first. Ask me if you don't understand."

"Okay." Gillian responded quickly and started reading.

As Gillian read, Tommy sat at the desk, writing something seriously. While reading, Gillian couldn't help but sneak a glance at him.

The light from the window shone on his face, giving it a dreamy look. Just one glance made her feel more motivated to study.

Gillian watched for a while, and Tommy wrote for a while. She leaned over to take a look.

"Is there something you don't understand?" Tommy asked. "Where?"

"No, I'm just curious about what you're writing."

Tommy shook his head helplessly and spoke like a teacher to a student, "You need to focus when studying. Don't be distracted."

"With such a handsome guy here tempting me, how can I focus?"

"Should I leave then?"

"No!" Gillian immediately clung to Tommy's arm. "If you leave, I won't be able to study at all."

Gillian noticed that Tommy was writing some notes for Vivienne, mostly about her preferences and daily habits.

Seeing how detailed he was, Gillian was very touched.

"Tommy, thank you for being so thoughtful." Gillian uttered sweetly, leaning against him. "I love your handwriting. It's really beautiful."

Gillian quickly took out her phone and opened her photo album to show him. "Look, I took pictures of them."

Tommy was surprised to see that her album was full of photos of his random notes.

"Why did you take these?"

"Beautiful things should be captured. Such beautiful handwriting should be preserved forever."

As Gillian admired Tommy's handwriting, her phone received a message from Stellan.
