Chapter 592: I Already Know Who He Is
"Alaric, what's up with you?" Cormac asked, feeling a chill run down his spine at the sight of Alaric's nervous yet excited expression.
Hearing Cormac's question, Alaric couldn't contain his excitement. He gave Cormac a heavy pat on the shoulder and exclaimed, "Cormac, you're a genius! You really are a genius!"
"What do you mean?" Cormac was completely baffled by Alaric's behavior. "Stop being so cryptic, you're scaring me."
"I finally figured it out!" Alaric felt a huge weight lift off his chest. "Cormac, you're amazing!"
"Alaric, what are you talking about? I don't understand."
"I know who Tommy is trying to protect! And I found the evidence. Cormac, you're incredible!"
Realizing this, Alaric felt foolish for not connecting the dots sooner. He should have figured it out long ago.
"I've been so stupid, only realizing it now. I need to hurry, or someone will be in danger!" Alaric said, rushing downstairs. Cormac was left in a daze. "Where are you going?"
Alaric didn't answer but suddenly came back, urgently saying, "Give me Tommy's phone."
Cormac, still unsure of what Alaric was up to, handed over Tommy's phone. Alaric grabbed it and dashed out.
"Alaric, where are you going?"
But Alaric had no time to respond, leaving Cormac even more confused.
Cormac flipped through the photo album again, still puzzled.
"What is it? How did he figure out who it is just by looking at this album? What's in it?" Cormac kept looking through it. "It's just a regular photo album. What can he see that I can't?"
Alaric drove as fast as he could to the police station. Upon seeing Neil, he quickly interrupted him.
"Neil, listen to me. I need to talk to Tommy urgently. Find me a room with no surveillance or listening devices. I need to speak with him alone."
"A room with no surveillance or listening devices? Why do you need..."
"It's important, and it's the only way to get him to talk. Time is critical, hurry!"
Neil, unsure of what Alaric was up to, complied. Afterward, he felt like slapping himself.
"Strange, who's the cop here, him or me? Why did I listen to him?"
Neil couldn't figure it out either.
Neil found such a room, and Tommy, handcuffed and shackled, was brought in. Since he admitted to being the leader of the terrorist organization, he was considered extremely dangerous and heavily guarded.
Though it had only been a few days, Tommy looked visibly thinner. These days had been like years for him, dark and endless.
His only thought now was to die, hoping that his death would end Gillian and his godfather's hopes.
They say time healed all wounds. Gillian was still young; she would eventually forget him. Once she fully recovered, she would start a new life.
Once he died, the world would believe Tiger was truly dead. Country A would disband.
"I've said everything I need to say, Mr. Knight. Why are you here?" Tommy's attitude was still one of seeking death.
"Whether you've said everything or not, you know better than I do." Alaric didn't beat around the bush. "Tommy, there's no surveillance or listening devices here. I arranged this room to give you one last chance. I used to think you were using Gillian, but it's clear you genuinely care for her. That alone proves you're not all bad. I've fought Tiger for years, and I want to know his true identity. But now, I also want to help you. This is your last chance."
"Thanks, Mr. Knight," Tommy said with a faint smile. "But I've really told you everything. I don't want to die either, but there really isn't anyone left who is my accomplice.."
"Tommy, there's no one else here. Stop pretending. I know who he is. Whether you say it or I do, the difference is huge. This is your last chance!"
Alaric knew who his godfather was? How could that be?
"Mr. Knight, trying to trick me into confessing? It's useless. There is no such person. How could you know who it is?"
Seeing Tommy's firm stance, Alaric grew frustrated. He pulled out his phone and showed Tommy a photo.
"Tommy, you're smart. I don't need to say much." Alaric turned off his phone and continued, "When Stuart mentioned that the mastermind behind framing the Storm family was Tiger, I was shocked. I couldn't understand why the leader of a terrorist organization I've fought for years would be the same person framing the Storm family. But now, the answer is simple. The only person who could connect the Storm and Knight families is him. He's right there, isn't he?"
Tommy's indifferent eyes changed, looking at Alaric in disbelief.
"Do I need to say more?" Alaric asked, staring at Tommy. "If you still choose not to speak, I can go out and tell Neil right now. We can issue a warrant. For someone like him, an international criminal, we can involve Interpol. Do you think he can escape? Tommy, the person you're trying to protect can't be protected anymore. Do you want to die with him? What's the point? What about Gillian? Are you really going to abandon her?"
Alaric then showed Tommy the messages Gillian sent him every day.
"Look for yourself. Gillian sends you dozens of messages every day, saying she's waiting for you to come back, to leave the hospital, to buy a house together, to get married, to have kids. She's waiting for you, not your corpse!"
Hearing this, Tommy's grim face couldn't help but twitch.
He couldn't protect his godfather? He couldn't die, but he couldn't be with Gillian either. Why was it like this?
"Tommy, it's come to this. Stop being foolishly silent. If you don't confess, it's only a matter of time before he's caught. If you confess, you can survive. He hasn't left, right? He's still in Arizona City, isn't he? You know his hiding place. You must know. Confess and redeem yourself. It's your last and only chance."
Tommy hung his head, biting his lip until it bled. One second, ten seconds, twenty seconds, he remained silent.
"Still not talking?" Alaric didn't want to waste time. "I'll call Gillian now. Let her talk to you. She's the woman you love, and you don't care about her life or death? Why should I care if she can handle it? Why should I fear she'll go mad from the shock?"
Alaric started dialing Gillian's number. Hearing the ringing, Tommy immediately knocked the phone out of his hand. "Don't!"
Alaric's phone fell, and he looked at Tommy, who was on the verge of breaking down.
"Tommy, if you don't want me to call her, then speak up! Where is he now? Where is he hiding?"
"Alaric!" Tommy was truly breaking down. He grabbed Alaric's collar. "Why are you meddling so much? I've confessed everything. Why are you still pushing me? Isn't it enough to close the case? Let me die!"
"Why? You should ask yourself why you won't confess him." Alaric pushed him to the ground. "You think dying for him makes you a hero? You're just a coward, Tommy. A coward!"
