Chapter 518: Do You Think He Looks Familiar?
Upon hearing Gillian's skepticism, Alaric was suddenly speechless, feeling like his words fell on deaf ears.
"So, according to you, since you have money and status, Stellan married you for your money?" Gillian threw out there.
Alaric was truly at a loss for words!
"I was the one who pursued Stellan, not the other way around, okay?"
"Just because you pursued Stellan doesn't mean she didn't marry you for your money. Who pursued whom doesn't conflict with whether it was for money."
"I don't want to talk to you anymore," Alaric replied, not wanting to say another word. "If you can't understand, then I won't say anything."
Gillian pouted at this.
Even though he said he wouldn't talk, Alaric couldn't help but give one last piece of advice: "Anyway, I need to remind you that Tommy is not a simple person. If he wants to manipulate you, you'll be completely at his mercy. The safest way is to stay away from Tommy."
"Got it," Gillian responded, extremely frustrated. "Alaric, why are you as nagging as my dad? I used to think you were very quiet and cold. Is it because you're a dad now? So nagging."
"Fine, from now on, I won't say a word. If you suffer later, don't blame me for not warning you," Alaric then shut his mouth.
It was already the middle of the night when the car pulled into the garage. Feeling very tired, Gillian got out of the car on her own.
Stellan hadn't woken up, so Alaric gently carried her out of the passenger seat.
It might be because of the pregnancy she was particularly sleepy. Alaric moved very gently, carrying her to the bedroom without waking her.
Alaric had planned to sleep too, but suddenly a message from Neil came to his email. Even though Alaric had said it wasn't urgent, Neil still sent the video to Alaric as soon as he got back.
Alaric couldn't sleep now, so he walked out of the bedroom, and went to the study slowly.
He played the video on the computer. This time, he wasn't focusing on Brennan, who had fallen, or Todd, but on the mysterious person standing in the shadows.
Alaric zoomed in, enhanced the clarity, and watched from various angles, over and over again.
His eyes grew tired from watching, so he rewatched the video again at the slowest speed after closing his eyes for a moment.
Stuart had framed the Storm family and killed Brennan on Tiger's orders, but as for the motive, Alaric had no idea.
The person on the rooftop must be one of Tiger's subordinates, overseeing the Vale family's handling of the situation. This person must be someone Tiger trusted deeply, possibly even Tiger himself.
If Alaric could find this person, the case could be solved. But who was this person?
Alaric continued to watch the video repeatedly. After a while, he felt that the person looked familiar. Had Alaric seen him in real life, or was it just an illusion?
At that moment, the study door was suddenly pushed open, startling Alari. He hurriedly turned off the computer screen.
"Alaric..." Stellan, still half-asleep, spoke with a dreamy tone. She had gotten up to use the bathroom but found Alaric wasn't in bed.
"Why aren't you sleeping so late? What are you doing in the study?" Stellan asked slowly.
"Nothing much, I'll sleep soon," Alaric replied, quickly turning off the computer. He had to sleep; his eyes were tired, and his head hurt from watching for so long.
After Stellan finished in the bathroom, Alaric accompanied her back to the bedroom. It was already past four in the morning.
Because they had slept late, Alaric woke up very late the next day. Stellan, now very sleepy due to the pregnancy, was still lying in his arms asleep.
They were finally woken up by a phone ringing. Alaric, a bit annoyed, saw it was Cormac calling, which made him really angry, "Why are you calling so early?"
"Early?" Cormac was surprised. "Alaric, are you still in bed? It's almost noon."
Alaric checked the time; it was already ten in the morning.
Alaric tried to wake himself up and asked, "Did you take Caspian, Harry, and Elisa to school?"
"Of course I did," Cormac replied. "After dropping them off, I came to Nexus Innovations and waited for you for over two hours, so I called you."
Cormac was at Nexus Innovations?
"Got it, I'll be there soon."
After hanging up, Stellan woke up too.
"Stellan, I have to go to the office today. You rest at home."
"Okay, go ahead and work. There are so many servants at home; you don't need to worry."
The next prenatal checkup was at three months, a crucial one. Before that, Stellan planned to rest well and do nothing.
"Alright, call me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Alaric got dressed and left the bedroom. Not seeing Gillian, he asked a servant, "Where's Gillian?"
"Ms. Emberlyn went out early, saying she wanted to consult about pursuing a Ph.D."
'So diligent? Looks like she's serious about it. It's good to see her being ambitious in her studies.' Alaric thought.
Alaric then drove to Nexus Innovations. When he entered the office, Cormac was sitting on the couch, flipping through a magazine.
"Not staying home with Rowena today? Why did you come to Nexus Innovations so early?" Alaric voiced.
"Rowena's condition is stable now, and she's busy writing songs. She doesn't need me with her every day," Cormac replied, then noticed Alaric's face and couldn't help but comment, "What did you do last night? It's so late, but you still look half-asleep."
"Watched videos all night. My eyes hurt now."
Cormac frowned immediately. "Staying up all night, watching videos behind Stellan's back?"
"Cormac, what are you thinking? I was watching the video Ambrose secretly recorded of Brennan falling." Alaric clarified.
"You scared me. I thought you were watching porn," Cormac quickly stopped himself. "Anyway, did you find anything after watching for so long?"
"You've seen that video too. Don't you think the mysterious person looks familiar?" Alaric asked.
After feeling a sense of familiarity, he had increasingly accepted the idea. Alaric tried hard to think, but he couldn't match the face to anyone specific.
"Familiar?" Cormac was puzzled. "That figure is so blurry. How can you find it familiar? You can't even see his shape or height clearly."
