Chapter 639 Are You Okay?

It was already dark when Aurora left the hair salon, tears streaming down her face. She had chopped off her long hair, which used to reach her waist, and now it was super short.

She walked and cried, thinking about what had gone down in the classroom. It hurt so much.

She had foolishly thought she had made peace with those people, but... why did it have to be like this? Why are people so cruel?

She was always kind and never caused trouble. Whenever someone needed help, she would eagerly assist. Why did they bully her? Just because her father was a murderer?

But it wasn't her fault. Her father being a murderer didn't mean she was guilty or deserved to be treated this way. Why did they bully her? And why did so many people just stand by and watch?

At that moment, her phone rang. It was an unknown landline number. She wiped her tears and answered, her voice hoarse, "Hello?"

"Dr. Ryan? You need to come quickly! Mr. Ryder Rivers is having another manic episode. It's terrifying! Please hurry!"

Ryder was having another episode? Had the medication he had been taking for so long not helped at all?

Aurora quickly wiped her tears again and rushed to the Rivers villa. Tonight, Ryder must have been triggered by something severe. When she arrived, the living room was already filled with shattered glass and broken items.

"Dr. Ryan, thank goodness you're here! Mr. Ryder Rivers has completely lost it!" Eva said, clearly terrified.

Aurora had no other choice but to use the old method: give him a shot to force him to sleep.

But Ryder was completely out of control. She couldn't get close to him, and even if she could, his erratic movements made it impossible to find the right spot for the injection.

"Eva, come help me hold him down!" Aurora instructed urgently.

"No, no, I can't!" Eva backed away, too scared to get close.

Aurora was at her wit's end. It was just the three of them in the villa, and with Eva not helping, she had to rely on herself.

"Ryder, calm down. Look at me, look at me!" Aurora tried to approach him alone.

"Get away from me! All of you, get away!" Ryder, in his frenzy, pushed Aurora to the ground.

Aurora knew how painful it was for him to be out of control like this. As a doctor, she had to help him.

She got up from the floor, knelt down, and used all her strength to hold him. She called out to Eva again, "Eva, hurry, come help!"

"I... I can't!"

"Please, we can control him together!" Aurora held on tightly, but Ryder's resistance was strong, and the difference in their strength was evident.

Fortunately, he was in a wheelchair, which made it easier to control him than if he were standing. But without Eva's help, Aurora couldn't manage on her own.

"Eva, come on, help!" Aurora was losing her grip.

Eva finally came over to help. Taking advantage of the moment, Aurora quickly gave Ryder the injection. As he passed out, both Aurora and Eva collapsed onto the floor, panting heavily.

Afterward, they helped Ryder onto the bed. Aurora asked Eva, "What triggered him this time?"

If he hadn't been triggered, he wouldn't have had such a severe episode."No one triggered him," Eva replied. "It's just the two of us here daily. He's so temperamental, I don't even dare talk to him, let alone provoke him."

"Alright, Eva, you can go back to your tasks."

After Eva left, it was just Aurora and Ryder in the bedroom. Aurora was exhausted and sat on the floor, leaning against the bed.

After a while, Ryder woke up. During his manic episodes, he couldn't control his emotions, but he was aware of what was happening.

He knew that when Aurora held him, he had fought back hard and hit her repeatedly. He knew, but he couldn't control himself.

"Aurora."

Hearing him call her, Aurora quickly got up from the floor. "You're awake?"

Ryder nodded, feeling guilty about his earlier behavior. "Did I hurt you?"

"No," Aurora shook her head. She really didn't feel any pain.

Or maybe, after everything she had been through recently, she realized that physical pain was insignificant.

If no one bullied her at school, and she was just treating Ryder's manic episodes, even if he hit her, it would be a happy thing for her.

"What triggered you today? Why did you have another episode?" Aurora asked.

What triggered him?

"I just happened to hear a song."

It was a song that Grace used to love. Hearing it brought back memories, and then...

"If you only take medication, it will be very slow to see results. Let me consult and see if your condition can be treated with acupuncture. When Eva goes out to shop, I can give you acupuncture so she won't find out."

"Thank you," Ryder said, genuinely grateful.

"No need," Aurora replied softly.

Ryder looked at her. Something seemed different today. She was wearing a hat.

"Why are you wearing a hat at night?" Ryder asked.

"It's nothing," Aurora quickly covered her hat, afraid he would see her short hair underneath.

Ryder sensed something and looked closer. "Did you cut your hair?"

"Yeah, long hair is a hassle and wastes study time," Aurora lied. "But the short hair doesn't look good, so I'm wearing a hat."

Aurora quickly stood up. "You're okay now, so I'll go. I have an exam tomorrow."

As she was about to leave, Ryder grabbed her wrist.

"Are you okay?"

It was clear that something was off with her tonight. Her eyes were red, indicating she had been crying.

Aurora was about to say something when they heard Eva outside. "Mr. Tristram Rivers, what brings you here so late?"

Hearing that Tristram had arrived, Ryder quickly let go of Aurora's wrist. Aurora, not wanting to see anyone in her current state, hurried out.

As she passed Tristram, she said dismissively, "Mr. Tristram Rivers, I'm leaving."

She quickly ran out, and Tristram didn't pay her any mind, heading straight into Ryder's room.

"Ryder, I heard you had another manic episode. What happened?"

"Tristram, who asked you to come?" Ryder was extremely annoyed at the sight of him and spoke bluntly. "You know I have manic episodes and can be easily triggered, yet you still come. Are you hoping I'll have another episode? My girlfriend became your wife, and you're still not satisfied?"
