Chapter 621 So Peaceful

"Your memory is terrible! Already forgot?" Neil said, ready to settle old scores. "I'm talking about you getting those two maids to lie for you."

"Getting those two maids to lie?"

"Don't you dare lie to me again!" Neil said sternly.

As Neil's words hung in the air, the atmosphere in the room shifted. Stellan hurried over and said, "Neil, about that matter..."

"Galatea," Alaric quickly interrupted her, admitting his fault. "I was wrong back then. Whatever punishment you think is fair, I'll accept it."

"So you finally admit it. Weren't you always denying it before?"

"Yeah, I'm really ashamed."

"I get that you were trying to protect your wife, and I know she was wronged, but fabricating evidence is not okay. After the New Year, pay the fine and write me a report," Neil said.

"Yes!"

"And don't let it happen again. Especially you, wealthy and powerful business types, I'm keeping an eye on you. No breaking the law. If it happens again, I'll arrest you on the spot!"

Neil was a man of principle, not one to bend the rules for anyone.

"Yes, it won't happen again."

"Alright, now that we've settled that, let's start our New Year's Eve dinner, shall we?" Neil's face broke into a smile. "It's New Year's, after all. I might have ruined the mood just now, so I'll punish myself with three drinks later."

"Mr. Jackson, you love drinking so much, three drinks are hardly a punishment," Cormac said.

"Then I'll do the dishes."

Everyone laughed at Neil's suggestion.

After that, everyone took their seats and began to enjoy the festive New Year's Eve dinner.

"We agreed earlier, it's New Year's, and no one leaves until they're drunk," Cormac said.

"You three can drink, but my Tommy can't," Gillian said.

"That's cheating! We agreed everyone would drink until they drop," Cormac immediately protested.

"Special circumstances," Gillian said. "We're trying for a baby, so Tommy can't drink. Besides, when it comes to drinking, Tommy's a lightweight. With Mr. Jackson here, you won't have any trouble getting drunk."

Cormac was about to say something when Alaric quickly interjected, "Tommy's trying for a baby, so he won't drink. The three of us will."

"Fine, I won't push someone trying for a baby. But let's be honest," Cormac said, "Tommy's the real winner here. Look at me and Alaric, no parents, and Tommy gets two amazing dads for free."

"Exactly, one is a top commander, the other a leading medical expert. Uncle Tommy, you hit the jackpot," Harry said.

Tommy felt a bit embarrassed and quickly said, "I just got lucky, and I'm grateful for their support."

"You've been through a lot, even served time. This is a new beginning," Neil said. "What's your plan now?"

"I haven't decided yet."

"You're very capable. Whatever you choose to do, you'll do well. Plus, you have two business moguls right here. With their help, you'll succeed," Neil said.

"I wouldn't call myself a mogul," Cormac said to Tommy. "But Mr. Knight here is loaded. Tommy, if you want to start a business, need startup funds, or human resources..."

Cormac looked at Alaric, giving him a knowing look. "You've got a tycoon right here. Don't let it go to waste."

Alaric was a bit exasperated and said to Cormac, "Cormac, you're good at being generous with other people's money. They see me as a brother, so of course, I'll help. But speaking of you..."

"Your startup is doing well, right? You've made quite a bit. You still owe me the money I lent you."

"Alaric, I saved your wife and kid's lives. I'm your family's savior. It's been less than three years since I borrowed that money, and you're already asking for it back? How shameless can you be?"

Cormac had been using this line for three years, and Alaric always found it both amusing and exasperating. "Fine, Cormac, I give up. You don't have to pay me back."

"No, I don't want to take advantage of you. I don't want you losing sleep over it. I'll have my accountant transfer the money after the New Year. But..."

Cormac looked lovingly at Evelyn and smiled warmly. "But if Evelyn becomes my daughter-in-law, I'll give you a huge dowry."

"Cormac, keep dreaming!"

As soon as Alaric said that, Evelyn immediately chimed in, "Daddy, I want to marry!"

"Evelyn, can you be a bit more reserved? You're a girl, after all," Harry said.

"No, I like Ethan."

"See, you have to respect the child's wishes. Alaric, don't worry. If I can be a good uncle to Evelyn, I can be a good father-in-law too."

Alaric was speechless.

"Ethan and Evelyn have been childhood friends. If they end up together, it would be a beautiful story," Aurora said. "Ethan's amazing, getting a girlfriend before me."

Aurora's comment made the adults chuckle.

"Aurora, you're in college now. Are you dating anyone?" Stellan asked.

"No," Aurora replied. "I'm focusing on my studies. I want to follow in Ms. Emberlyn and Mr. Reaves' footsteps and get a PhD. No dating for now."

Aurora didn't realize that she would soon break this promise.

"Aurora, you can aim for a PhD like Gillian, but don't pick up her personality."

That would ruin her love life.

"Cormac, I'm not that bad!"

"Exactly," Tommy suddenly said. "My Gillian is adorable."

This...

Turns out love can be contagious.

"Forget what I said earlier. Let's drink," Cormac raised his glass. "For those drinking, let's drink. For those not drinking, tea will do. Happy New Year!"

"Happy New Year!" everyone said, clinking their glasses.

"It's New Year, out with the old, in with the new. Let's leave all the bad things behind and start fresh. May everything go smoothly and safely," Alaric said sincerely.

"Yes, the dark days are over, and the future is bright!" Stellan said happily.

They drank and welcomed the New Year together. As the clock struck midnight, they went outside to set off fireworks.

Under the beautiful fireworks, lovers embraced. The winter was cold, but the hugs were warm.

Life is full of ups and downs. Looking back, everything is a gain. As long as you stay true to yourself and keep moving forward, the sun will always shine in the end.

Love, friendship, and family exist in this world, making it a better place.

As the New Year began, so did new journeys. After a brief reunion, they parted ways for better future gatherings. After the New Year, Caspian and Aurora left, and life continued as usual.

Harry and Elisa continued their loving bickering, Evelyn and Ethan played together every day, and they even ended up in the same kindergarten class. Gillian successfully got pregnant, and her father, grandfather, and father-in-law were all busy taking care of her.

Tommy, having just earned his PhD in engineering, decided to start a construction company, and things were off to a good start.

Time passed, and the children grew. On a warm afternoon, Evelyn and Ethan planned to go out and play, so both families went camping together.

Stellan and Rowena chatted while Alaric and Cormac, inspired by Thomas and Josep, tried their hand at fishing. Then, a phone call broke the peaceful atmosphere.
