Chapter 105

"Dad! Is it really you?" I choke as tears are welling up in my eyes. My heart is racing faster than lightning. My palms are sweaty, I feel like the world is spinning or something. Am I dreaming?
"Yes, it's me sweetheart," he responds. My heart sinks when he refers to me as sweetheart. I want to run into his arms but it seems like I can't even move, it's like something is holding me back.
"But how? We saw mom shoot you and you were lying on the floor and... How is this even possible?" Vic rakes his fingers through his hair as he breathes heavily.
"Son, when your mother shot me, I became unconscious and since the three of you left without knowing my condition, you couldn't have known if I was dead or alive," dad says and I swallow hard.
"I don't understand." I cringe at the memory. "Well then why didn't you reveal yourself to me? I've been coming here for all these years but I had no idea you were so close to me. Why? Why did you hide?" A tear drops and a sob escapes from my mouth. "So, we've been living a lie? Knowing our dad was dead, all these years but you were still alive?" I sniffle. "So... So mom and Olivia knew that you were alive–"
"And they didn't even tell us?" Vic adds and pinches the brim of his nose.
"Roxy... Vic... Your aunt, Olivia took me to the hospital, I was in a comma for four months. When I woke up, she informed me that your mother had been taken to prison for attempted murder and that both of you had been taken to a foster home. I begged her to get you out of there and not say a word. One day, I went to visit your mom at the prison, she wasn't pleased to see me but I knew that she was glad I was alive. I told her that I would do everything in my power to get her out of there–"
"Why didn't you do that? It seems to me that you're richer than I can remember, you own Wolf Street for crying out loud! Why didn't you help her when she was sick? Why? She died right in front of our eyes and I swear that was the second most painful shit we had to witness. The first was when she shot you. So why didn't you even try to do anything? Huh?" he goes quiet. "Dad, say something!" I yell and wipe my tears away with the sleeves of my jacket. A lump is beginning to grow in my throat.
He takes a deep breath.
"I was building a future for us–"
"You cheated on her, with her own bloody sister, Olivia!" Vic barks.
"I know and I regret it. It wasn't my fault. She didn't want to see anyone at all for a couple of years, I had no idea she was sick. I was saving up to bail her out, created this place for her so that when she'd get out of prison, we'd live here forever, but... It was all in vain..." his voice trails off.
I can feel the pain in his words.
"I know I have a lot to explain but, all I want is for both of you to forgive me, and your aunt Olivia too," he says and I roll my eyes.
Vic is shaking his head from side to side, still in disbelief when a figure appears from the long hallway we came in through.
It's Olivia.
"What the fuck is she doing here?" Vic rudely points at Olivia.
"That's it, we're going home." I grab Vic's hand. I can't stand the sight of Olivia after being reminded that she was the cause of all of this. If it wasn't for her shagging my dad, we wouldn't be here, we wouldn't be as hopeless and helpless as we are, mom would still be alive and she wouldn't have gone to jail.
I push Olivia out of my way as I drag my brother along with me.
"Get out of my way!" I hiss but she doesn't oblige. Instead she grasps my forearm and I stop, immediately releasing a shocked Vic's hand.
"Roxy–" Olivia calls and her voice makes me wince as if a needle is going deep into my flesh.
"Let go, or else the little respect that I have for you will go down the drain," I warn but she won't let go.
"Didn't you hear what she just told you? Let her go!" Vic barks and Olivia let's go. Just when I'm about to turn around and leave...
"Roxy, where do you think you're going?" I hear Bobby ask from behind me, all this time, my father is quiet.
"Home," Vic answers for me.
"This is your home–" Bobby replies but Vic cuts him off.
"I've never been here before, so to me, it's not home, I don't even know who you are!" Vic yells.
I pull Vic's hand again but...
"You won't go too far, young lady," Bobby says and I clearly understand what he means. I know Boogie and his men have instructions already and that we wouldn't get past the gates.
I turn and walk straight to Bobby.
"Are you forcing us to stay here?" I grit my teeth.
"I'm not forcing you to do anything, but atleast listen to your father and your aunt–"
"What is she even doing here, huh? Do you want her to ruin our lives again?" I turn to face Olivia who I notice is in a white trench coat and a royal blue dress underneath, black heels of about three inches and her short, blonde hair is dangling above her shoulders. "You had us fooled that our dad was dead, why?"
"He's the one who wanted it to be that way. That's why your own mother didn't say anything either. Look..." she takes two steps towards me and I take one step back. The room is now quiet and the only thing I can hear is the ticking of my watch.
"I'm not here to fight with you. The things I did was because your father told me to," she continues.
"So he told you to get into bed with him?" I ask and she's taken aback. "Because I literally know the whole story," I say, raising a brow.
Bobby clears his throat and I gawk at him.
"And was he the one who told you to kick me out of your house?" Vic questions from behind Olivia.
"Was he the one who told you to stop paying for my school fees? Hmm, Olivia?" I ask.
We've had her speechless.
"Go ahead, answer those questions," Dad joins in.
