Chapter 208

"You just made it sound like some horror movie. She tried to burn you alive in a wooden house? What kind of a psychopath is she?" he says while shaking his head. "That's insane."
"I know. If it weren't for you and the rest. I wouldn't be here. Anyway, that's all about her. From how we met to how she changed into the person she is right now," I say.
"I don't think I like her at all. Talking about her gives me goosebumps," he says and his phone rings. "It's my doctor," he says and he puts him on loudspeaker.
The doctor asks how he is doing and he tells him about his dreams and how he got triggered when he saw Sabrina.
"That's a good sign, young man. It shows that your memory is slowly coming back to you. You may not recall anything yet, but with time you will. Let's keep the faith. I won't make it today but you can tell your friends to help you out with your exercises," the doctor says.
"Okay, doc. Thanks," Scott says and hangs up. "Well, I already did my morning exercises since I woke up earlier than usual. Do you have plans for the day?" he asks.
"Not really. Just chilling maybe. Now that I have like two weeks to stay home and do whatever I want, I don't even know what I want to do. Roxy and her family went on vacation. Did she tell you that?" I ask him.
"Actually, Vic was the one who told me about it," he says and I nod my head.
"Do you have anything in mind?" I ask as I tap the top of the island with the tips of my fingernails.
"Yeah. I was thinking maybe... we could drive around and you could show me more places and then later on pay Kye a visit at his workplace," he says and I gasp in surprise.
"That's a brilliant idea! Kye will be beyond shocked and thrilled to see you. I still don't know if I can reach him. Let me try and call him. But I won't say we're coming," I say as I dial Kye. He answers after the fourth ring and I put him on speaker.
"Hey, Kyrah. I am so sorry, I've been quite busy training new recruits and my phone has been acting up like a little bitch. What's up?" Kye's voice fills the entire kitchen.
"Hey, I was just calling to know how you're doing. Roxy's been trying to reach you too but I'll let her know about your phone. So apart from all the work, how have you been?" I ask and I eye Scott, whose eyes are on my phone.
"I have been great. I just got promoted by the way, so I'll be having the rest of the day off. I was about to call Roxy but you called first. I thought maybe we could hangout?" he says.
"Here's the thing. She wanted to tell you that she'd be going on a family trip. So... I guess hanging out with her won't be possible. Sorry," I explain and he sighs heavily on the other end.
"It's okay," he says. "Say hi to your family for me,"
"I sure will," I say and hang up.
"Great! He has a free day. I can't wait to see him. Can we now go driving around?" Scott asks happily, a wide smile on his masculine face that makes me feel ecstatic, warm and giddy all over.
"Sure, let's go. Let me grab my car keys," I say and we head out of the kitchen together and before we are past the living room, the bell rings and I wonder who it is. When I open the door, I roll my eyes.
"Hi," Oyster chimes and I regret the moment I opened that damn wooden door.
"What do you want? I was about to leave," I say and he steps forward when he notices Scott firmly standing right behind me.
"Are you avoiding me?" he asks, his eyes never leaving Scott. He's in a navy cardigan, brown khakis as usual and black leather shoes.
Well duh! Isn't it obvious? Yes, I'm avoiding you.
"Excuse me?" I scowl at him and he clears his throat noisily and stands upright, arms akimbo.
"Ever since this guy moved next door, you've been ignoring me. You've ignored my texts and calls, what's up with that? Who is this guy?" Oyster asks. I can see the thick pain in his eyes and the heavy jealousy in his voice is quite detectable.
"Are you jealous?" I ask as I cross my arms in front of me and I look up behind me at Scott and I smile at him and he smiles back.
"What? No!... I mean... Yes. Yes, I'm jealous that you've never even looked at me the way you look at him. I've only met him twice but I've noticed the way you look at him. You're even doing it right now. I really like you but you didn't have to throw yourself at a guy who moved in next door less than two weeks ago–" Scott cuts him off and points at him.
"Do you realize how immature your words are? You better leave or I'll make you," Scott growls and stands right beside me. His large and tall frame overpowering Oyster's.
"Who the hell do you think you are? I've been here longer than you–" I cut him off.
"Wrong. I've known him much longer than I have known you. And just so you know, we were just going out on a date and we're running late," I say and I pull Scott's arm, lock the door behind me and we walk past Oyster on the porch. His jaw drops when I hold Scott's hand and entwine our fingers as we walk to my car. When he stomps his foot on the porch, we both turn around.
"Oh, so he's your boyfriend now?" Oyster asks bitterly, running a hand over his face in anger.
"He's been my boyfriend for the last two years," I say and I smile. I know it's unlike me to act this way but, he just insulted me by saying that I 'threw myself at a guy who moved in next door less than two weeks ago'. That was rude. People should do a background check before accusing others of things that are just mere lies.
"Really? Well I've never seen him around, you've never even talked about him. Stop lying to me," he says and walks off the porch. His fists are curved into balls on his sides. Scott is calm as he usually is.
"Why would I lie? Look... Just because you helped me out with my senior projects back in campus doesn't mean there's anything going on between us. I don't feel the same way for you and I am pretty sure I have never in any way tried to lead you on, so can we not do this right now? Scott will always be the love of my life, till I die. I love him." My own words surprise me, "Now can you just leave because you just accused me of something that wouldn't even cross my mind," I say and Oyster tries to speak but I stop him.
"Just leave before things get ugly," I say and he huffs and stomps his way past us, down to the street. I heave a sigh of relief and lean back on my car.
