Chapter 20

Voices are in the background and I hear Roxy's very loud whisper. At that moment, I choose to open my eyes.
"She's up!" Roxy says stepping forward and Scott steps in front of her, then Blake in front of him. Scott rubs his temple, agitated and heads out.
"Kyrah... How are you feeling right now?" Blake moves his hand to cup my cheek and I notice that I have an oxygen mask on.
I look around and realize that I am not in our campus clinic.
A bag of fluid is connected to a long needle by a plastic tube. The needle has been put on my arm and taped in place. The fluid drips from the bag, through the tube and needle, and into my skin. My arm feels cold.
"How long has it been since I passed out?" I ask Blake.
"Two hours," he says, his brows furrowed.
"And thirty seven minutes, that's a really long time," Roxy adds.
"Roxy I..." she cuts me off.
"I know, you had your inhaler but this time round, nothing could help, not even your inhaler, that's why we..." she pauses and clears her throat, "Well Blake here, drove you to this hospital and got you a private room, all to yourself," she says.
No wonder this room looks extremely large, it has everything in it and I am not just lying down on a normal uncomfy hospital bed, but a real actual bed, like the one I have at home, only that this one is bigger.
Blake holds my hand and looks at me with those azure-blue eyes and I swear my intestines criss-cross. My hand is terribly shaking in his and unexpectedly, my parents walk in.
My mom is in tears and dad is in shock.
"My baby! Honey, I'm so sorry. Roxy told us everything," my mom says and I look at Roxy frowning then she mouths 'No Sabrina stuff' and I relax.
I try to pull the oxygen mask off but Blake takes action before I do.
"Please, keep that on, the doctor said it's better if you don't remove it," Blake says and turns to face my dad "Hi, I'm Dawson. Blake Dawson. Nice to meet you,"
He doesn't refer to my dad as 'sir' like Scott does.
My dad stretches out his hand to greet him.
"Kyrah, who brought you here? This hospital is quite expensive darling. We can't afford it," mom complains as she hold onto my other hand.
I look at her wondering whether I should speak through the oxygen mask or not and Blake responds to her.
"I'm responsible and the bill will be taken care of, don't you worry about your daughter, she is in safe hands," Blake assures my parents.
My mum sighs in relief and dad stares at Blake.
"Dawson... Hmm... Blake Dawson. Wait a minute, you're the son of that famous tycoon right? Max Dawson and the wife Reyna Dawson," he points out.
Blake nods and smiles.
"Yes," he says, "Uhm... The doctor said your daughter should be admitted here for the night, her lungs are not stable, for now,"
"But I want to go home," I whine "I hate hospitals," I sound ridiculous with the mask on me and everyone laughs softly.
"We'll come pick you up tomorrow honey. It's now getting late and we better head back, Snow is probably hungry now," mom says as she walks out with dad and I shrug.
"I have to go somewhere too but the doctors will take good care of you," Blake says and leans in to plant a warm kiss on my forehead. My entire body freezes when his lips touch my skin. To make things even worse, he squizes my arm and I gasp when he walks out.
"I'll pretend I didn't see that," Roxy is grinning away at me and I pull the beddings to cover my face in embarrassment.
"Get well soon babe, see you tomorrow," she leans in and I move up slightly to give her a hug.
"I love you Roxy, you're the best friend ever!"
"I love you too Kyrah, now get some sleep," and she leaves.
I wonder why Scott left and never came back. Shrugging, I close my eyes and fall asleep.

Roxy's POV
So many things have been happening and I can't take it anymore. Everything happening to Kyrah is all Blake's fault, I don't know why Sabrina is so clingy when it comes to Blake, but sooner or later, we'll all find out. I don't trust him at all but my best friend is smitten already and all I can do is support her. This is confusing.
As I close the door behind me, I head to the reception right outside Kyrah's room and sit there watching TV. National Geographic is on and I concentrate. Funny thing is I actually love watching Nat Geo. My eyes are focused on a cheetah chasing a gazelle when someone taps my shoulder and I look up.
"Hey, I thought you left," I say when I spot Scott staring down at me.
"I thought you left too," Scott says taking a sip of his coffee.
"Well, I can't just leave Kyrah, now that I have the chance to watch over her, I might as well stay awake the whole night since they can't allow me to take care of my mum at the prison. Plus, Kyrah literally took care of me a few days ago," I look away from him "Why are you still around?" I ask.
"I received a call earlier. My best friend got admitted in this hospital. His leg got injured. I could take you to see him and also get you something to eat," he offers and I happily oblige.
"Oh, alright then. Let's get food first, I'm famished," I say.
After having some nice, hot french fries, we head back inside the hospital to see Scott's friend, who's on the fifth floor. Scott knocks on the door and walks in first.
"You're back... And not alone," the guy says, his eyes landing on me. He's cute, lying there on top of the bed with a heavily bandaged leg.
"Yeah, our other friend is in another room on third floor. Roxy Trent, meet Kye Ripley. Kye, meet Roxy," Scott introduces us to each other.
I extend my arm to greet him.
Wow! That's a firm handshake.
"Nice to meet you," I say shyly "What happened to your leg?" I ask and he looks at his leg then back at me.
Those cobalt-blue eyes, I've never seen such kind in my entire life. Well Blake has blue eyes but his are azure-blue, and Scott has gunmetal blue ones.
"I got injured at the gym. Never did I ever imagine myself getting injured at the gym. I'm always expecting such injuries during training but nothing happens." He laughs.
"Training? What kind of training?" I inquire.
"He's in the army, Roxy," Scott answers on his behalf as he watches an ear to ear smile form on my face.
"Oh, awesome," I grin at him and he picks a glass of water from the small table by his bedside and I watch as he swallows the water.
Damn!
